I went there mid September so the mosquito is pretty crazy in the evening time but I still enjoy the walk. Strongly recommend if you also enjoy the plan taking off view

I love walking around Lake Nokomis. Its less crowded than other lakes, and the wetlands area just south of the lake is great for bird watching.

Lake Nokomis is another shining blue jewel in Minneapoliss collection of public parks. With several swimming beaches, fishing docks, and public boat launch for sail or human powered craft, water sports opportunities are plentiful. If staying dry is more your speed, a beautiful loop trail with designated paths for cyclists and pedestrians, surrounds the lake, and connects with The Grand Rounds trail system. If youre in need of refreshment Sandcastle, located near the boat ramp and main swimming beach on the west side of the lake, serves fresh hot food and cold beverages. Lake Nokomis has something for everyone looking to spend some quality time outdoors.

Picnic tables, playground and fire grates near main beach make for a nice lunch/ dinner spot while being able to cool off on a hot day. Pay parking is adjacent to beach. Unfortunately the beach house is closed due to COVID-19.

Great place for kayaking, paddle boats, canoes or paddle boards. Great food at the restaurant right alongside the beach. They also have bikes to rent!! Only downside is the bathrooms are closed so its biffy use only, which seems less safe to me.

Lovely park with plenty of places to paddle, hammock, and play. There is also a good mix of paid and free parking available, depending how close to the lake you wish to be. No dogs allowed at the beach, unfortunately, but I definitely still take mine out on my kayak and she loves it!

One of the best Minneapolis parks. A huge amount of green space compared with other lakes and not as overrun. Beautiful running, walking & biking trails. Beaches and sailboat buoys. Also great local restaurants and coffee shops surrounding the lake.

We love walking and biking around Lake Nokomis. Its such a nice place to get outside and walk, run or bike. They have a lot of activities to do there as well: the beach, many different rentals for biking and playing on the water, a park, docks for fishing, an awesome restaurant on the beach, sometimes live music, places to grill and picnic tables to name a few. Its great! Definitely worth going again and again.

Lake Nokomis is one of the quieter Mpls lakes. Has two beaches, bike and walking paths, a sculpture garden, boat and bike rentals and a great food/beer/ice cream concession stand. This is and awesome place for stand up paddleboards.

Nicely laid out, lots of parking and clearly marked signage everywhere. Theres a separate bike path than foot path, and lots of recreational activities including biking and kayaking, with both available for rental. lots of families everywhere, people were putting up hammocks between the many trees and falling asleep in them. There is food available to purchase, big place to sit and eat and enjoy the view of the lake.

Always beautiful. The city lakes are an incredible resource. Nokomis is very quiet compared to Calhoun or Harriet. It is also smaller so usually is better for SUPs or kayaks. Also, there are two beaches to choose from. The main beach is very busy and has concessions and rentals. The other beach is much smaller, very family friendly and has porta potties. Both have swimming rafts.

Lake Nokomis is a beautiful Park with a lot of history and fun activities for the whole family! The three mile around the lake trail is well maintained and beautiful. The food at the pavilion is good! My only complaint is that sometimes the airplanes flying overhead get loud, but are quickly forgotten. You can also rent paddle boats and swim at the swim beach here too! Beautiful, and fun!

Le
Review №75

Its usually flooded but it doesnt stop me from running around it. I guess what most people like about it, is that it gives off a sense of serenity and tranquility. I like the willow trees that surround it. Occasionally the serenity and peace is ruined by the sound of large airplanes going overhead back to the airport. When its not flooded, its much easier to navigate.

So fun! Nice beach area - its not huge, but we havent had a problem finding spots. And theres plenty of room and the playground, the bathrooms building, and Sandcastle, including lots of shade too. The playground is perfect for getting the kids out of the water and warmed up. Havent eaten at Sandcastle yet, but Ive heard good things and its really nice to be able to grab drinks or whatever, on case you didnt pack everything. Also fun to see all the boats around there.

Had a blast. We grilled, the kids swam at the beach. Theres public restrooms, you can buy food here too. We rented the 4 person bike for $37/hour and the single quad $13/hour and rode around the lake. Took us about 30 min but we went faster than most, normal time is about 45 min. To get good parking we had to pay, wasnt overly expensive.

One of the most beautiful parks in all of Minneapolis. The landscape is gorgeous, especially in the spring as the trees start to bud. There are cherry blossoms and magnolias. You get all of the beauty of Lake Calhoun or Harriet but it is not as busy. Definitely one of my favorite places to go in the spring, summer, and fall. Watching the airplanes is a plus, too.

Very busy on nice days so it can be challenging to find good parking, especially because its only on one side around the lake and they dont like you making u-turns.Theres places for water sport rentals, lots of trees for hammocking, several beaches while also smaller places where you can just sit on the edge and wade in.
