I have an associate membership here and if you really have an interest in contemporary art Id gently suggest you become an associate. It opens up a lot of opportunities for you to delve deeper into the experience of the Walker. There is so much in the Walker collection its difficult to find a place to start. Currently they have a wonderful exhibition of womxn artists including those that express themselves as Fluxus artists. Their permanent collection is diverse and expansive. Id advise taking several days to wander the galleries in order to really absorb the ideas presented.

Walker Art Center is a very cool, unique modern art building to visit. However, I feel like they push a political agenda with the way a lot of their descriptions are worded, specifically targeting conservatives. If I go to an art museum, I wanna learn about the art, not the politics. Besides that, its a great trip and definitely worth your time.

Best art exhibits in the US! I’ve traveled around the world looking at unique art and these exhibits are easily the most unique and stimulating of any I’ve ever seen. 10/10 would reccomend to anyone looking for a new place to enjoy art and network with like minded individuals. Also the sculpture garden nearby is also a must see.

Fantastic art gallery with an amazing changing exhibition. As well as wonderful standing exhibitions. I really appreciate the themed shows that have come in the past few rounds, particularly with attention and emphasis on women and people of color presenting their art. One of my favorite art museums in town!

Trendy, stylish Art Museum. We visited this place for the first time during the Stomping Ground event, and it was a very fun experience: on the sculpture garden just in front of the museum, a mix of circus artists, giant soap bubbles, and other activities created a magical pop art atmosphere. Inside the well curated exhibits are dedicated to contemporary art with artist using all kind of media. Highly recommended.

The modern art on display at this museum was absolutely some of the greatest things I’ve ever seen. I have never before appreciated art in such a way. There were moments where I was brought to tears, moments where I laughed, and moments where I just stood there trying to understand. Some of which I could not, but it was still a beautiful experience. However if I could convince the group I was with about how modern art is not just strange, then it would’ve been perfect. Yes some people who would see a replication of a car from a fatal accident, or body parts set up in a crate, or CDs stuck to a wall with honey dripping down would be considered strange. But the art behind the pieces is everything. I only wish I had more time to understand every single piece. Also if you are in the military you get in for free!!! A member of our group got all 4 of us in for free. Also the gift shop has some really cool books and overpriced souvenirs, but what is a great gift shop with out that? Will definitely come again, but most likely by myself so I can appreciate the art in a different way. But YES make sure you visit if you’re in the area!!!!

I was very excited to return to the Walker. Unfortunately I left after about 5 minutes. I was assured, when I purchased my ticket that visitors would be required to wear masks. This was not the case. Many children running about without masks and adults as well. The adults put their masks on at the entrance and as soon as get to the galleries take them off. This endangers other visitors as well as the staff. Very disappointed that staff does not ask unmasked people to leave. They have since this was written become more alert to this problem and are taking action.

I enjoyed the museum. The layout was rather confusing, there was a lot of people working in each room which made me as a viewer feel pressured to move quickly, and there wasnt any cohesive theme. The rooftop garden was closed. Im not a huge modern art fan but I only disliked it because of its lack of cohesion. They had Schiele, Picasso, Duchamp, a lot of big names. Honestly, if you can only do one museum go to the Minneapolis Art Institute (MIA).

Was awesome!! My 8 yr old really enjoyed himself, staff is courteous, and nice. One gal even got into showing him about an art piece of blank dog tags shaped as Afghanistan, with record of fallen soldiers from 2010-2014 (I may be wrong on the beginning year). And other staff would answer his questions or pique his thoughts in response. Was really neat. Also has interactive art pieces which is great too.

Though sometimes misguided with past exhibits (ie Mankato), this is a really beautiful public access garden and center to have at the heart of Minneapolis. You can spend hours in the gardens alone. They also tackle exhibits that have relevance to our current times that can serve as thought provoking pieces to inspire progressive change. If thats not your thing, dont worry, there are still endless whimsical views to get lost in.

I adore this place to death. Its completley free to everyone under 18, and otherwise I believe the cost isnt too much. They are concerned with showing art, not making money.
