This hike is no joke. All up, but when you get to the top the views are great.Did it with a ruck bag of 20 lbs and it destroyed my legs. 3 hours and 8 miles total but I keep a pretty fast hiking pace.Went up to the mansion and the views up there are great as well. Highly recommend. Bring lots of water and get ready for a workout!!!

Nice views of Golden. It also connects to the beginning of the Windy Saddle trail, which leads to Lookout mountain and the Buffalo Bill museum.

Lovely and accessible area. Even on a beautiful Saturday it wasnt crazy busy. We had to turn around before the top because there was still a good amount of snow on the trail. My five year old had a blast the whole time. My 3 year old struggled with the incline and needed some help but loved the jaunt down the mountain.

Nice uphill walk that can be done in two hours of so. Very well marked, wide path. Popular with mountain bikers. The windy saddle parking lot is under construction until June 20th so cant currently see the view at the top.

A bit treacherous considering a recent snow fall. Definitely not a suitable trail for a novice hiker.

This trail was great to hike up. Be cautioned that this is an amazing mountain biking trail so you will more than likely encounter riders. 2.7ish miles of sustained elevation gain so be prepared for a little climb. Totally worth it through when you get to the top. There is a parking lot at the top of you just want to see the view.

Went on a gorgeous Saturday morning—not too crowded at all. Only did about a 2-mile out-and-back...had my 4-year old and 8-year old boys with me. They enjoyed throwing rocks and splashing in mud puddles more than going.

Okay hike with cool views to the Coors and Golden. If you you actually hike the entire route it will take you to lookout mountain. Good hike to take someone to that area. Very well maintained and watch out for bikes

Lots of parking off of 6th, there are more spots up lookout mountain rd. too but only about 5 spots. The trail is steep in places with little tree cover the whole way. There are porta potties at the top of the trail, in the parking lot for lookout mountain trail. Views are great nearly the entire climb.

Was a good hike. Took us about 3 hours there and back. Its about 2.5 miles each way and its mostly uphill on the way there. Very scenic and beautiful. We saw birds and elk on the way up, and we came across 2 rattle snakes on the way back. Overall was good, but the snakes made coming back a little sketchy.

Beautiful foot trail for biking, hiking, or running!! Right off the highway, easily missed if you dont look! You can see Golden and the mountainside as well. Im not sure where it ends, I stopped at the construction and went back around down.

If you park just off the highway, the trail start isnt immediately apparent, but easy to find your way The trail is well-maintained and be aware that until mid-June, there is construction at the top that forces you to walk along the road to continue. Not too crowded early on a Saturday and the views are stunning. Beware that you do have to share the train with mountain bikers.

Great hike, a little on the busy side with both hikers and bikers. Can be a bit steep but a fun trip with hidden old crashed cars along side of trail that have been over grown. Beautiful streams and views of Golden and City from top

There are three access points from the road. One on the shoulder of 6, two others on Lookout mountain rd. The trail from the shoulder of 6 to the top is a 3.5 mile uphill grind gaining about 1,600 feet. The trail isnt terribly technical either. Great footing, no loose rock. My favorite local trail.

This was an awesome place to hike. The scenery and wildlife is amazing. The trail isnt too tough, but it can get slippery and if you run out of light it could be dangerous as theres not a ton of room to move yourself especially if there are hikers coming from the other direction. The end of the trail opens up to lookout mountain and other trails. If you get a chance to visit, do not pass up the Chimney Gulch Trail

7-26-15 This is a very nice trail with views of Golden and Denver. It is a steady uphill and pretty rocky, but not too steep. I made it a little past the crossing of the paved road in about an hour. It was Sunday afternoon. I saw four hikers and one uphill mountain biker. So it wasnt busy. You are passing by homes across the gully on the left until you reach the paved road. There were also parking spaces at the junction with the paved road if you want to start from there. The trail is well marked with signs naming the trail at the junction with a dirt road and at the paved road.
