This is a living and working community run by City Of Colorado Springs and 2 foundations in Colorado Springs. Exploring is as much as you want it to be. It is open 24 hrs a day every day but Wednesday through Sunday they have tours through the community but I just walked through the property early one Sunday morning. The sheep greeted me. The horses were in the barn area. There was a person there tending the Garden. I saw trees with cherries on it. It was a nice walk. If you go online they have a few things scheduled over the month. The settlement goes back to 1775 when American Indians inhabited the area. In 1871, an immigrant from Scotland bought the land $200 and built a cabin that still stands. In 1874 sold to Chambers family for $1400 where they built their homestead that is there today. In 1900 Palmer, the founder Colorado Springs bought it for $17000 where he built house for his sister in law and her family. After his death, the property went into disrepair until bought by the city and 2 foundations. Lots of history here.

Great thing to do with the kids. The grounds are open to all, but if you pay for the pass, then you will get to benefit from the knowledge of the volunteers. The general store was cute, but small, and no A/C (at least when I went). All the paths are dirt, so it may be hard for strollers and wheelchairs.Due to COVID, the houses were all closed (the had doors and windows open so you could see inside), but I believe under normal circumstances you can go in to many of the structures.

Rock Ledge Ranch is small but cute. Make sure you check their operating hours if you want to see the blacksmith or cute lambs running around. Great place to park and take some of the back trails thru Garden of the Gods. Allows you to avoid the big rush of tourists & traffic.

This is an especially great place to visit during one of the many events they hold during the year. Weve gone for the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Christmas, etc. and have always enjoyed the history and the access to nature. I recommend getting a family membership for the year and trying to get to as many of the special events as possible.

Love this area, for the dog park open space, hiking trails, historical Rock Ledge Ranch, structures including Indian sites and historic cabins dating back to 1800s. There is a blacksmith shop, cattle, sheep and historic buildings! Dont miss if you are a history buff! Beautiful landscape with Garden of the Gods backdrop. Love it!

I would give less stars if possible. Value for the $8 admission per adult is non-existent. Went for there fall festival and had no vendors, no pumpkins and nothing worth spending even your time at. Pie being sold was clearly Costco bought being sold for $2 a slice. Definitely not worth it. Stay away

Attended 4th of July event a few years ago, which was really fun and unique. Hanging out with past U.S. presidents was eye-opening and really brought life and personality to historical stories. Well-researched and dedicated to their craft. But THIS TIME, I went during open season, and I have to say it was AMAZING to walk through and have conversations with historians conducting normal daily activities in character, inviting us to touch many of the properties, sharing perspective on their duties and technology, explaining some of the conditions that influenced choices and preferences. Truly a hands-on education. I wish I had given myself more than a couple hours to really engage in conversation. I will definitely be going again next season.

We were planning on having our wedding at Rock Ledge Ranch at American Mothers Chapel. We reached out to them to clarify what exactly we were and werent allowed to do (where we could put up decorations, things of that sort). After not hearing back from them for quite some time, they finally called my fiancé. We were very surprised at how rude the person who reached out to us were being. They were saying that if we were to put any decorations outside the chapel without a special events permit that they would come check and fine us heavily. When we asked if we could get a special event permit, we were told, and I quote, You do know that costs $400, right?. We honestly could not believe how uncooperative and rude these people were being, especially to people who were trying to organize their wedding on short notice. I do not recommend this venue to anyone. Every other venue we have talked to was appalled to hear how this venue operates.

Wonderful experience! We got there late, but the actors (many of whom were children) who work there took time to make cornhusk dolls with my kids and to show us so many different aspects of the olden days. My son even got to play the organ in one of the houses. I wish we could have spent more time there.

The price to see Rockledge Ranch is extremely reasonable and a great value. Even our 8 year old loved seeing history in action. From the Ute Indian area where we watched beading on a loom, could try on a breast plate and were able to ask as many questions as we wanted, to period cabin and home tours and a blacksmith in action, this was a learning adventure. Each of us had a favorite, but we all agreed that we enjoyed it. The location is breathtaking, located at the entrance to Garden of the Gods. The view from any direction is amazing.

I would pay to come see more events like this. In fact, I got a membership too! How about sheep chicken and cows. I think its important for children to learn and understand where the food comes from. All the children there were asking good questions. Ill see you at the next event.

Not a whole lot to do here. Went for the 4th of July, the website said they were going to have revoloutionary war reenactors. They ended up not showing because of the fire ban. You would think that they would have something on their website or a sign telling you before you got in but nope. Nothing was said until after you bought your tickets and got in the park. Then once inside they had a farm with no animals and a native American area being run by two white people. Dont go here

It was really cool seeing GoG and Pikes Peak from a new angle. Its a privilege getting to see these iconic landscapes everyday, and the stunning views from this vantage point renewed my appreciation to them.It was secluded and quiet. Surprising because this area of town, with GoG, is always booming with people. Add in the large open green spaces, bridges over babbling brooks, the pond with the geese, and the spectacular views youve come to know: thats what this place is.We came to check it out not knowing what it was and left pleasantly surprised. Its similar but different. Enough to check it out even if youve been to GoG a billion times.
