If you like history youll love this place.Learn about how colorado Springs whas developed and much more
A quirky museum staffed by passionate volunteers who love and restore old street cars and rail stock. They can imagine a future with trolleys running the streets of Colorado springs once again. Very cool for railroad and trolley lovers, and a great community of volunteers who restore guide tours, and dream!
Riding the trolley was so fun! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. There was so much more to see than we expected. Visit them!!
Litte peace of histore.Must see
This place is amazing. And the impressive work and detail going into the restorations is just top notch. I think there is more to see then the railroad museum in Golden. Highly recommend checking 8t out
We finally made it to the Trolley Museum after living in Colorado Springs over 20 years. It was a terrific experience. We learned about railways and trolley cars. There were great historical photos and items that were fascinating. The staff was very knowledgeable. Tom, our tour guide, shared information and stories that brought the early 1900s to life. The experience is informal and very low-key, worth the $5 entrance fee. If old trains and trolley cars are of interest to you, it is a place you should enjoy. We look forward to our next visit and sharing the museum with guests!
Came here 2 weeks ago with an elderly special needs client. He loves trains and getting out no one was there so we basically had a personal tour! We learned a lot he loved riding on the old trolley! He uses a walker they are working on becoming handicap accessible once they achieve that we will be back! He would of loved to look into some of the cars but it was just to risky. However, so many smiles and good memories were made!
This museum is amazing, as are the volunteers! Great experience.
Hidden gem in Colorado springs. Lots of restored and being-restored street cars, as well as train cars. Volunteers will show you around all day. My 3 year old wants to go monthly!
A wonderful guided tour, educational and informitive. I highly recommend for history buffs.
A nice piece of Colorado Springs history that I didnt really know existed! Great to see their current projects.
Interesting to see the history of Colorado Springs. I didnt know we had rail trollies.
Lots of train history. U can walk around cars and a caboose and a rail car. Everyone should go see this place
Cool place to see alot of old railroad items and rail cars
The gentleman who gave me the tour of the place is very knowledgeable and passionate about the history of these beautiful old machines. He didnt seem to mind answering all of my novice questions and was able to explain things in such a way as I felt I understood. Would be a wonderful place to take school age kids or maybe a small group of boy/girl scouts, but with emphasis on a *small* group as space is limited in the area.
This place is awesome! My daughter who is 3 years old loved it and John Haney was very professional and one of the best tour guides you could ever ask for! I highly recommend visiting this place for anyone who likes the taste of History Nostalgia and the real feel of the past.
A unique museum in the area. I visited on a whim and was pleased with the attention I received. Got to ride the streetcar and was amazed at its acceleration. The museum isnt well funded, yet they have an interesting collection of things there. Rail enthusiasts and just people interested in learning more about the rail history of Colorado Springs and the street car system that was in place should visit. The staff was amazing.
This is without a doubt one of the worst museums Ive ever been to. Most of the good members have left, and so have the best future plans for this place. There was one young man there named Mikah Or Mic (Cant remember his name exact but believe me when I say the man knew how to get ducks in a row) who had an amazing vision for this place but it seems they kicked out the best potential the museum ever had. Along with their former VP! I used to visit this place with a group every year or so but they are just a mess. The entire place is like my granddads basement, CLUTTERED. The tour is long and over informed. No focus on any real piece of information. The museum itself is absolutely awful shape, I DO NOT advise anyone in a wheelchair or walker to go. And above all, they expect funding for future plans but then lock themselves in a boring museum with not even a full week of tours. If you want respectable railroad history, Do not go here and do not give them a dime. Ive lost all respect for this place.
Its a small museum but the volunteers and employees know sooo much about trolly cars and railway systems!!! Such cool exhibits and so much history... a must see!
Tour guide was knowledgeable. Neat and friendly staff. Area walk around was clean and full of great historical insights.
People that volunteer there are knowledgeable and friendly!!! Great idea for young ones, cant beat the price!!
Awesome place to visit. Gregory was so knowledgeable and interesting. If I was from the area I would definitely volunteer my time here. If you havent been there I highly recommend you go.
100 yr old trolley - working bus - way cool
Ride a vintage streetcar - neat museum
So much history in these trains. The volunteers that put in time are all so very knowledgeable and really have a passion for what they do.
Found this place by searching for non mainstream things to do in Colorado Springs. The museum staff seemed partly surprised when I arrived.I met a wonderful gentleman name Regis, who was my tour guide. I told him about how I was doing a photography trip, and wanting to shoot photos, and he told me that once the tour was over, I was welcome to go back and shoot as much as I wanted. The museum had a great selection of historical items detailing the old railroad and electric trolley systems of Colorado Springs. The tour included a model train and toy exhibit, a ride on an antique silver trolley bus, and he even took me into the areas where the wood cars were being rebuilt and restored.Regis was overly patient answering any and all questions I had, letting me find good positions for lighting, even stepping out of the way so that I could get great shots of the woodwork and the insides of the street cars with no one in the pictures. Before leaving I snapped the attached photo of him in front of one of the street cars. This was an experience I will never forget thanks to the excellent tour guide and friendly staff working at this museum. I will return again in the future with others traveling with me.I highly recommend this place for any history or train enthusiast, as well as those traveling with kids.
Best $4 you can spend. Thier guides are very friendly, and will take you on a hands-on history tour of several trolleys and train cars, some of which have rich history with Colorado Springs.
This place is small, but amazing if you go on a Tuesday or a Thursday. Youll get to ride an actual historic trolley car and learn a lot about trolleys, Colorado Springs history and trains of the area
We took the family today and were really pleasantly surprised at everything they had here! Good selection of historical items in the streetcar museum, a terrific restored car, and great staff. Out back there is an old Rock Island car, containing some terrific material about railroad operations in the area, with a friendly and knowledgeable curator that impressed us all.Great place for a visit, coming back tomorrow for a ride on the streetcar!
A hidden gem in Colorado Springs. Very impressed, better than the Dead Sea Scrolls Exhibit at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
Great work being undertaking to restoring these great trollys
Very cool. The younger gentleman needs more training.
It is great!!! Alot to see and learn..
This place was very interesting. Great tour and reasonable prices.
Difficult to find someone to show you around, but worth the effort
I poked into the Pikes Peak Historic Street Railway Foundation today, after following some nearby signs to it. Let me tell you that I was VERY impressed by the place and the people! Visiting has helped me to better understand the importance of rail and streetcars to the area, and bolstered my knowledge of Colorado Springs history considerably. I was so impressed that I am considering volunteering some time and energy there to help the Foundation in whatever way I can.For a $5 donation, I got an extended tour of the place, got to enter 3 separate streetcars, and got to take a ride in a streetcar. The restoration and renovation work on some of these old cars is unimaginably intricate! This Foundation is also well-connected in the community, and has plans to help Colorado Springs get a lightrail system in place that will go from the south end of town to downtown, to CC, to UCCS, and up to where Nevada runs into I-25 going North. Very ambitious, but also very necessary! This museum and tour is strongly recommended for all locals, rail-fans, and out-of-towners!
Nice place to spend an hour and not usually busy
Great tour guides. Interesting
Awesome place to learn history of trolley cars in Colorado Springs
Awesome history
