Id always thought of it as the heart of the shopping district or custom clothing there are a lot of tailors in that area. Then you have Macys and Cartiers Tiffanys definitely a very nice area not to mention its. a central area for the hop-on hop-off of bus tours. During normal times they have art exposition there just a lot of different things to engage locals and tourists check it out when you have the opportunity

Great plaza in the middle of the city. Since the Covid19 pandemic is still roaring, it was quite deserted and empty. The side coffee shops were shut down, so not much to do there. However I would imagine its a great location to meet friends, go shopping, as high end retail is all around it, and I am in love with landscaping there. From majestic palm trees to flowering shrubs and smaller trees. It makes it very colorful and pleasant to be around.

Union Square is home to one of the largest collections of department stores, upscale boutiques, gift shops, art galleries, and beauty salons in the United States. The public plaza is surrounded by restaurants and shopping boutiques. Many of San Franciscos best hotels are located here. Great place to visit! Will definitely coming back again!

Union Square is the Time Square of San Francisco and it used to be the luxury shopping center as well. Right now there are so many homeless and other shady people that is very hard to feel proud to bring guests or family to. Its a very real manifestation of the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

It amazes me how in the USA a city can change in atmosphere in merely a matter of blocks. That is the case with Union Square. San Francisco appears clean and high end around this square. With the historic St Francis hotel and The Drake, to the Canadian Saks 5th Avenue and the USA Macys Department Store - Union Square has something for everyone.

We visited beautiful Union Square on a delightful sun soaked and warm day. There were loads of people who were enjoying the beautiful day as well, eating, sunning themselves, selling, buying, dancing and taking pictures. It was pretty cool observing and everyone seemed to be lay-backed. We stayed and explored and were rewarded with some good photo opportunities. If you get to San Francisco you would enjoy the Union Square area, to take a few minutes of relaxation, sit, have bite to eat and simply watch the people moving about, enjoy.

Very open plaza, never too busy and there always seems to be a place to sit and relax. Appreciate the open space. The square itself is only a block wide on both sides. Not as large scale as many other places in NYC.Pretty close to a lot of stores, I mostly stop at Union Square when going to the Apple Store.Nice central location, pretty close to Chinatown (specifically the entrance through the Dragon’s Gate). Just a block away is Boba Guys, which always has a long line. Not sure how many trolley or bus stops are close by Union Square, but a decent number of lines seem to pass by.Seems like the area has recently has undergone construction.

It is like many other public places in the city lacking in sanitation. I would recommend pressure washers to be regularly employed to clean All seating, resting, and walking areas. Noise ordinance should be considered in a way that allows for expression without disturbing someone elses need for tranquility. Maybe a zoning scheme.

Union Square is a great destination that is surrounded by restaurants and great places to shop. I enjoy sitting in Union Square to people watch in the bustling area while I seek refuge from the chaos during high peak times on the weekends or in the evenings. On nice days its a great place to bask in the sun. Yes, there are some people who are down on their luck in the area. However, its never been a problem for me as long as I respect their space and treat them with the same human decency I treat others with.

It had been 20 years since my last trip there, far too long. All the exciting, new departments - clothing, shoes, jewelry, perfumes and accessories.
