Awesome enclave in the most eastern part (near the Haight Street shops for tourists) of GG Park. This area, I believe, is also called Hippie Hill where 1970s history is prominent. On the park benches youll often hear local musicians play percussion with a sweet smell in the air.

RW Meadows. Hippy Hill from back in the day. Beautiful, big, dog friendly. They hold events. Near the bridge and in the Golden Gate Park. Great botanical garden there.

Special Easter Event today 4/13/2019 and families were about in droves enjoying the rides and festivities. Small kids could participate in the egg hunt or take a picture with the Easter Bunny. On the west side was a barbecue ribs eating area where one can partake and vote for the best with a ticket at $5 a plate. Good deal comes with ribs, coleslaw, macaroni or potato salad and cornbread.

The drum circle at Sharon Meadows is a good place to chill out on the weekends. There are a group of bongo players as well as players of other musical instruments that meet on Saturdays and Sundays. If you want to bang on some drums, play another instrument, dance, or just listen to music and relax, you might enjoy going to Sharon Meadows on the weekend.

Great memories of Sharon Meadow! Back in September 2003 i saw the newly reunited Duran Duran, Seal, Maroon 5 and Liz Phair for the Alice Now and Zen fest. I met so many wonderful people there including a wonderful homeless man who guided me to the right place in Golden Gate Park. I love this park and city!

This place can be very busy and a good place to catch some rays and sun. Ive gone to a couple of concerts here, and its a decent place to catch some free concerts and fairs. last time I was here, I went to the radio Alice Summerthing, and it got very crowded. the restrooms had a long line, but they brought some portable restrooms in. I had an overall good time here, and usually its not that bad.

Located south of JFK and just west of Stanyan, Sharon Meadow is a great place to sit in the grass and enjoy the park! A local radio station hosts a free music festival every September in the meadow.

A great area of the park, with a nice hill to sit on and stare at the clouds. This is also the location they use for Opera at the Park each year, which is a free performance organized by the SF Opera.

Towards the east end of the park near Haight Street, Sharon Meadow has hosted me for frisbee and soccer playing, for hanging out and resting, for drum circles, for various festivals and events, for laying down on hippie hill, for time traveling back to the Sixties, for chilling out after playing with kids in the big playground nearby, and sometimes just for walking through.
