St. Patricks gets a lot of the attention in this part of NYC but this is a beautiful old church with a lot of great architecture and was very welcoming place. The priest was very friendly and they had good music including a post communion song played on their in the process of being restored organ. Overall worth visiting if you need mass that isnt over crowded and want to see a beautiful sacred space.

A wonderful historic Roman Catholic church. Undergoing beautiful restoration (2019) The clergy and congregations very warm and welcoming. The church gets many out-of-town visitors as the Port Authority Bus Terminal is right across 42nd Street. The famous Father Duffy World War 1 chaplain of the fighting 69th Infantry Regiment was the pastor of this church when he returned to America. In the 1940 movie The Fighting 69th, Father Duffy is portrayed by Pat OBrien.

What an incredible, amazing, beautiful church. The sculptures of the various Saints and Biblical figures that are featured in this church are over 200 years old. The only thing that comes close to Holy Cross Church is The Vatican.

Beautiful classic church across from Port Authority. Unlike all the corporate box style churches in Florida, New Yorks churches are gorgeous and inspiring.Holy Cross Church was founded in 1814. It is located right across from Port Authority, and the outside is grand, but the inside is incredible. A stop that everyone should make when visiting New York City!

I was visiting from out of town and went to this church out of convenience but I had such a lovely time! Everyone was very welcoming, the priest had visitors stand and I got many individual welcomes from people afterward even when getting on the bus. The cantor had a stunning voice, the entire parish participated in the music and the priest gave a very kind and encouraging homily. The church itself is also very beautiful with lovely paintings and stained glass.

Great church. I had served here for about a year as a lector and minister of communion at the daily 730am mass before leaving the RCC to become an Evangelical Christian. The church is run by the Capuchin Franciscans who are a great bunch of people, and I feel reflect a more spiritual approach than a diocesan parish. Their focus is on serving the poor and marginalized. The priests are humble and friendly people who have taken a vow of poverty.
