Oh, my! This cinema house was hilarious! The seats were comfortable, and the screen was big and extremely loud. Also, the staff was very accommodating and nice to the customers. Honestly, I truly enjoyed hanging out and chill in your cinema house. It was satisfying and enjoyable. Thanks a lot. Ill be back!

If youre looking for the rustic film lover cinema, this is it! History abound - every filmmaker that ever came out of New York has screened here or been to a screening here. Always check out whats playing. You never know who will show up, but you can be certain theyll love movies just as much as you. Sure, its small, but its filled with love.

I is difficult for me to put into words how much I love Anthology. They show incredible films (oftentimes actual projected films) that you just cannot see anywhere else. The Essential Cinema series is pretty much the best thing ever & is free for members. You should become a member today & go see some good movies.

Ive screened my film here and attended many screenings and festivals of my friends films. Its great that they offer big screens to low budget films and they are definitely a staple of the New York City indie film community. I will admit that the seats are uncomfortable especially if youre big like I am and the lack of air conditioning is just annoying. Still, Im sure Ill.be here again and again. Check out their new filmmakers series if youre a young director.

Unique films shown in a very architecturally interesting former courthouse and jail, mysterious rickety spiral staircase included. Cheap for students, only $9 tickets, which is unbeatable in New York, especially for films youll have a hard time finding elsewhere. Saw A Man Vanishes which was a movie that boggled my mind. Theater itself is average in terms of comfort of seats, but I felt that it was easier to see the screen from all parts of the theater, possibly based on chair positioning, possibly based on elevation of the screen, even if theres a tall man with big hair sitting in front of you (usually a problem for people of my height). No snacks, so sneak your own :)

This place has always had stellar film showcases, but my major qualm are staff. Always has been. Ive never felt comfortable around them, theyre far from approachable and the last time I was there the ticket personnel who let me and my kid in whispered under his breath I think youre here for the wrong film. I have a close film nerd friend who thinks the same, so its just not me.

The venue itself is ok, a little dingy, but also not the worst theater Ive been to in the city. The seats were pretty uncomfortable and the bathrooms are weird and kinda gross, one of them had water on the floor (at least I hope thats what it was). The screen is nice though, and positoned in a way that actually allows you to see over the potential tall person in front of you

Legendary. Anthology Film Archives is not your Metrograph or Lincoln Center. Its old school. The lobby is freezing. The seats are threadworn. The audience is a mix of the elderly who saw the repertory screenings when they were first released and NYU film students (definitely prefer the former). Keeping film alive in NYC.
