Outstanding venue for movie festival screenings. 2 movie screens, which can be playing simultaneously, without interrupting each other. A theater for a larger audience of about 300-400 people and a smaller one for about 200. Very attentive and knowledgeable staff that is always willing to make sure you and your audience have the most incredible time in the movies. The only thing I would add is some sort of concession. Not popcorn or anything, but just an ability to get water or a snack would do good.

It was during the film festival DocNYC 2018, at the world premiere of the documentary Olympia, of my best friend Harry Mavromichalis and his team, a documentary movie as a rare real piece of love and warmth, at the SVA Theatre. It was the biggest one involved in screening of the movies from the festival, it is about 500 seats, in a great location in Chelsea and with all the features as a modern movie theatre. Very nice, only good impressions. Thank you.

A cozy venue for different film festivals throughout the year in New York.

Came across a cool little event at this theater. They were doing viewings of black panther and coco. They had all the popcorn and beverages you could ever want. I wonder how often they hold events like that on.

Gorgeous and cozy theatre that is great for a film screening and Q & A. The acoustics are wonderful, giving even sound mixing to content and decreasing the need for microphones for humans. New Yorkers tend to be theatre trained and we can usually project quite well. I didnt see the stage but Im sure it would match up with the rest of this review. The film #AtEternitysGate is endearing to the senses and our most vulnerable empathy.

Nice-sized theater in the heart of Chelsea in Midtown Manhattan they do screenings and premieres of small feature films and projects done by students. I went and saw Hurricane Bianca to Premier there it was great. The seats are comfortable the screen is very big and its very cleanperiod actresses and actors come to the theater and do signings along with the premieres and hotel accommodations are very close to this venue they have a Starbucks around the corner and many restaurants to choose from I recommend checking out a movie or a Premiere at this theater the SVA is theater school for people and they do many things other than films definitely Google them and check them out

Ive attended and also photographed a lot of SVA events in this theater. Always nice and clean.

This theater is amazing. The sound, the screen, the seats, the staff. I can go on and on. Its one of the only places in NYC that has legit top of the line gear for projecting film (as opposed to just digital). Highly recommended for moviegoers as well those looking to screen their material and host events.

Volunteered to work for a filmfest event. Other than the lobby area which was lovely, I did not see the rest of the theater. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Made for an overall enjoyable evening

Small intimate theater. I attend the Indonesian Film festival. Sound system good for the space and stage accommodated guest speakers well.

I like this theatre. It is very nice in there & cozy. I went there for a student screening show and it was great. The space is on the smaller side though. It has the outside look of a movie theatre too.

Went to the SVA Alumni Film Festival. The short films and other screenings ranged from thought-provoking, hilarious, heartbreaking and disturbing on some levels. Its eye-opening. The free refreshments and popcorn was great too The virtual reality games and the music videos were really fun and interesting too. No one should miss next years fest. They have different programs too. Check it out!

I always enjoy going to the SVA. It is thee home to many different screenings and film festivals. One suggestion that I have is to have some way of storing ICE behind the bar in the reception area. There is a full kitchen downstairs, so why there wouldnt be ice brought to the reception area is a bit surprising. Before, After and during, all guests enjoy having a COLD refreshing drink. People like myself are turned off when served warm soda or warm wine or warm water. I have visited this venue, worked this venue and will continue to visit this venue. Keep up the good work.

There is a lot of space in the theatre, but apparently not enough for all of their students. The seats are really comfortable. Its a great place to see a movie. The people in charge are always helpful and respectful. But it fills up fast, so any SVA students who are going to movie night, I reccomend you show up early.

I love the location simply based off the fact they allowed a movie if this CALIBER to be shown there.

Great movie inside of a clean theatre.

Ive been here several times for both movies and talks. There are two theaters here, but Ive only been in the big one. The seats are comfortable and even though they are in great shape. The screen and sound are both good, especially for such a small independent place. My only issue is that the floor does not slope that much so if you are short like me there is a good chance that a tall person will partially block your view.

I was very impressed with how large and quality this schools screening theater is when our family attended the premiere of a film our son starred in. Really nice facility, though the lobby would benefit from more space as the reception afterwards was incredibly packed.

The SVA Theatre has great programming and they often give out popcorn, water and even welcome guests to bring their own snacks. The main theater can fit a decent amount of people while there is also a smaller theater on the side for more intimate screenings. Great location and friendly staff as well.

Came here to see Hidden Colors 5 which was sold out. Tight seating, no elbow room, not too much room, but the staff was courteous.

Its nice here. Went to a Unreal Engine training conference. The rooms were small yet intimate...great for Q and A.

Great theatre for special events

I always attend lectures here in the large theater on the first floor. This time there were two events and the arrangenment of the sign in tables was confusing. I went to the first table and I was not on the list but the young lady said go in anyway and I ended up in the wrong theater on the left. It would have been appropriate to direct persons not on one list to the second table.

There is only 1 decent sized auditorium. The screenings Ive been to, after waiting in line for hours, we are always seated in the first rows

What makes this venue special is the way the theater is designed. You can actually see the screen from every side in every seat. Great for film premiers and small film events.

Nice theater, friendly staff. I was there during the Tribeca Film Festival so it was packed and I ended up sitting in the front row. But even from there it wasnt uncomfortable to see the screen.

This theater is a part of my school, but is open to the public, so Ive been here a few times. They always have the best events and screenings going on. Its very clean and the theaters are really nice.

It doesnt look like a College Theatre - this a good thing!A mixture of a huge movies theather with a stage for plays, this SVA-focused venue is great.Usually youll see there movies or plays where SVA alumni took part, and debates on design and art.Worth checking out, even bring on your non-arty friend

Used to be a movie theater. I went to an evening there. Seriously the auditorium seats remain too low. Not comfortable for short people. Restroom a few steps down not very accessable
