The movie theatre was nice and clean with comfy seating, large screen and good sound. We loved it here.

So, the chairs dont all recline as I expect of an AMC movie theater, and there was one person working the concession area. We were in that elite line because we spent the $$ to join the special AMC club, and that line did.not.move. Yup. We waited longer by being on the special line. So watch for that.It was really dirty too. This location offers full-on takeout food like mac and cheese which is just $6, but they have a 15$ Bavarian Legend pretzel. Why??? We ordered pretzel bites for 7$ -and after our half hour wait, we wouldve thought they would at least be hot. Nope. And did I mention how dirty it is???The sound quality and the screen are really good, but I am not thrilled with the service/cleanliness.

For a movie theatre in Harlem, this place is very quiet and well kept. I enjoy watching movies alone in my seldom solitude.

Movie experience was okay. The popcorn was Dried out and Nasty But the slushies were good, the place wasnt that clean so dont expect a nice Theater. Overall It was a So-so experience Not the best but not the worst. I mean the staff were nice Which is Good.

Great to have a theater uptown. Initially I looked forward to patronize this theater. Now I would choose other movie theaters. Could be cleaner.

I love AMC Theaters. This AMC has a colorful vibrant decor that represent the neighborhood. The workers are pleasant and helpful, the prices are regular except for Tuesdays when its $5 all day, boy did I miss that one. The one bad thing about this location is that it smells horrible. The bathroom is clean but it smells, The hallway smells, the seats are really dirty and soiled which makes the theater room smells. I had a napkin over my nose & mouth for the entire time. This was very uncomfortable for me.

Good experience. Tried to use the kiosk but it started giving me a hard time to use the black tickets then went to the window and the representative stated they were used. I explained yes I was trying to use the machine with them. She was very nice(didnt get her name) and so was the manager. Theatre was clean, lots of options to choose from eating wise.

Enjoyed my movie very much. Oddly large amount of religious trailers. Great view of the outside. Cool posters of black films.

This movie theater is alright, not the best since there was another person in my assigned seat for the theaters. The seats arent really comfortable and where they sell the snacks the cashiers are pretty rude and may i say, ghetto. I didnt like their attitudes and its very sticky and dirty there. Near the drink stations, its super sticky as well and most drinks they were out of. The movie made up for the place but thats all I have to say.

Good for it being empty sometimes and quick with the food service, but I wish the chairs reclined. Also on Sunday’s from my own experience and from a local the little kids lock all the handicap bathrooms. Not cool, I have a disable mint her and we had to wait for the only one that was open when there was three more because kids locked them.

Used to come here all time years ago. Definitely not the same place I remember. The popcorn didnt taste fresh. We had to switch our seats since the ones we originally chose still had spilled food and left over drinks everywhere. It was disgusting. The people in the theater talked throughout the entire movie and had their phones on full brightness.

This theater is very easy to get to and staff is nice. Its close to restaurants and shops. Sound quality is very good and the crowds are not bad. I like magic Johnsons theater its my go to.

Its obvious that they do not care about the patron worries or uncomfortable other patron that are inebriated and disturbing other patrons from watching a movie. When my God Mother asked to remove a patron due to suspicious activity by following and literally looking at my bag as well my godmother bag. They refuse to remove the guest and just asked him where his ticket, he told them that he lost it and security told him he could stay but just enjoy the show.

I went there to see Addams Family with my kids. I had a bit of an issue so I asked to speak to a manager. He came over promptly, was courteous and resolved my problem very quickly! Awesome customer service- never had a bad experience there but now Im truly impressed. Wish I had asked the manager for his name because he deserves to be recognized!

Its WAAAAAY TOO MANY establishments in Harlem either getting updated or going out of business as gentrification builds steam. For the love of all that is right in the world, please fix this tattered and beyond well worn establishment. I would love to stay in my neighborhood to watch a movie, then, stroll home happy to have had an enjoyable outing and keep money in my neighborhood.

This is a great place to see a movie, much better say, than Central Park or the Bronx Zoo, which are very nice places in and of themselves, but dont lend themselves to the comfortable viewing of a motion picture. Given that, this theatre is really great for this purpose as it appears to have been custom-built for this very purpose! This says a lot about the foresight of the architect, builder, and Mr Johnson himself.In any event, my friend and I ( more about Nick later) went to the 415pm showing of Onward the Pixar animated film. The price for popcorn was ridiculous, $10! Other food items are also priced like you were at Yankee Stadium: $9 for chicken nuggets? Yikes!! DONT GO HERE HUNGRY, unless you have your Amex Black Card with you...as a matter of fact, the special package deal for the giant popcorn and 3 gallon tub of soda is MORE than if you bought them separately!We saw the movie in the Dolby Surround-Sound theatre, and the sound was truly awe-inspiring, with subsonic vibrations and everything, but it wasnt deafening.The seats are super comfortable recliners with motors! The theatre itself was spacious and sell laid out, with adequate lighting for the stairs so that you dont trip and spill $4 worth of popcorn ( about 109 kernels)The only disappointment was that Mr Johnson never made an appearance. Oh, about my friend Nick...he works for AMC so we got in for free!

This place needs 2 close and remodel, clean, and train the staff with better customer service . Also clean the soda machine area. The mats are so sticky it holds on to your shoe. Condiment area butter all over. no napkins.. SMH!!! But also People need to try and keep the area clean as well we live here and would want our theater to remain OPEN...

Rather good place to have a theater rather than midtown convenient for those that would not want to commute to far to watch a movie.

Hardly anyone in the theater. No one talking and making noises. It was great. Want to try next time hopefully it will be a mirror of my last experience.

GROSS! Stay out!!! You’ve been warned. Pay extra for clean seats and go somewhere else. Or bring a large rain poncho that you can drape over the seat. They need to get their act together. No one likes a filthy seat. Scrub and power wash that theater and then I’ll give them my money. Magic Johnson would be ashamed his name is attached to this travesty. Their popcorn gave me diarrhea. Last night, I had the chance to attend a private screening of The Best Of Enemies before it hit the big screen. The staff was great and the movie was great too.

If I could give this theater zero stars I would!!! This place is by far the worst movie theater I have ever been to. The staff is horrible, upon arrival the ticket booth clerk was very rude to the customers waiting for her assistance. I waited over 20 mins for for them to fulfill my order, to then be told by one of their staff that they gave my food to another customer, that gentleman then asked if I still wanted the food , of course I want it I already paid, that same gentleman then proceed to walk over to another female staff member to socialize instead of filling my order. In addition to the frustration I experienced placing my order, the food was disgusting and poorly prepared and stored. I wouldn’t be surprised if I woke up tomorrow morning with food poisoning. Last but not least, auditorium/ theater 1 smelled of urine. You would not believe the headache I have!!!! Please everyone who’s comes across this post ,,, please don’t waste your money on this place, such a waste.

Love this Movie Theater. Always have current Movie Posters. Game machines working. Clean seats, clean bathrooms, clean floors. Staff is friendly and respectful. No complaints in the years ... that I have come to see movies with my family.

My favorite theater. Its best if you get your tickets online first but the lines are not that long really. Ive been going here for a long time and I havent found anything to complain about. You can grab a bite to eat nearby. I love the wall of historic actors as you walk in.

Nice theater but its located in a busy area so its always extremely crowded and you always see, hear and smell people eating food brought in from outside. You can tell due to the very distinctive smell. Staff doesnt seem to care so next time Im bringing KFC too.Seats are comfortable though but theaters are not often clean depending on the time you visit.

Well, Im happy that the theater is still there. What has happened though, with management? Understaffed is an understatement. The place was unkempt, to be nice ... because I felt badly for the few people that were working, they were so awesome. Something has to be done. Ive never seen a theater so in need of custodial attention.

Great neighborhood movie theater. Pretty clean. I havent caught bedbugs yet here. When watching movies theres no one smoking weed like Im some other ghetto theaters. Be careful when you buy tickets in advance in the atom app or whatever, people tend to sit wherever and you might have to kick them out of your seat.

Theater is pretty good, staff that greats you upstairs to take your ticket is always friendly, but their kitchen never seems to be working correctly or able to fill orders in a timely way. Weve used their order ahead feature several times and each instance weve had a problem even though wed order almost 30 minutes before our movie.

Pros: big space, somewhat fast paced service, and the decor is just beautiful.Cons: The ppl there are soo dirty, people bring outside food and drinks (that includes alcoholic beverages) & there was somebody smoking in the womens bathroom. Yuck!

I went early evening to MICHAEL JONHSON THEATER AND WATCHED GLASS , IT WASNT WHAT I EXPECTED TO SEE. I GIVE IT 2 star. Its alittle funny but also a slow movie, :(

Dolby digital is worth it. Sound quality is excellent, anyone feeling sleepy will be wide awake there lol. Overall experience is great.

The theatres ticket prices are not as expensive as other theatres, you select your seats and they provide several movie options.

The cinemax movie theather # 5 was nice and cozy with reclining chairs .The movie was nice and loud. Great experience for me and my 2 girls. We went to see Sonic. Also used amc Express online food ordering so our food was ready by the time we got there !!

Nice clean theatre with all the latest movies always available. We went on a Saturday evening and it wasnt really crowded. Food is regular high priced movie food and fresh. Concession lines can be long at times but that is expected. Make sure you join AMC club for some good deals every now and then. If you look around you can find parking up the block sometimes.

Substandard AMC. Not enough staff, crazy lines, and people refuse to get out of the reserved seats of others. Most theaters are also in poor condition and outdated.

This movie theatre is very clean and very to the book they only let u in 30 mins before the movie that doesnt give u time to play games if (like end game) u need to find your assigned seat early but they stay to very strict rules only down side refreshment stand is very slow if no matter your amc status but slow the workers are very nice

Its the hood dont expect too much prices still high especially when there is only one dolby theater in there and if its a popular movie it will be sold out might as well go downtown and pay the same prices with a way better experience the two people working at magic johnson are slow and dont really give that happy customer service

I went to the theatre with my partner and when we approached the ticket handler he stated that we had to wait outside the door where they collect tickets being that our movie started 30 to 40min. We asked why do we have to wait outside the door, because he did not give an explanation as to why we need to wait until I asked. He claims that he has allowed others to sit down and wait and then people would roam around. I have gone to this theatre for years and loved it until now. Additionally, majority of the time I have gone to this theatre there are long waits to get snacks. Many who have been there can attest to that. They need to figure this one out.

Beware using you debit card . The Female Dog doesn’t work there anymore. Used my card to make calls and buy food to prisoner . Now I know why she said I can’t give you a receipt !

I think its a very beautiful theater and the location is great if you live in Harlem or even the bronx. Aside from that its kinda pricey when it comes to things like candy and drinks but i will support it because its magic

This theater does not give you that new movie excitement feel. It’s very small the staff are very rude just talking amongst themselves, make you late for the movie and sometimes are not even at the counter. I took my daughter there she loved the movie but again she would of loved watching the same movie on our smart TV with homemade popcorn. So if I were to influence you to come here I would be wrong. Please save your money don’t waste it at least not in this theater. Also, the theater was not clean, the seats smelled so bad I really could not put my back on the whole seat I felt like something was going to crawl on me I was so relieved when the movie ended.

It is usually pretty empty when I go but I feel that they should have more security and check bags or something just to prevent people from bringing in weapons and stuffs.. I went to watch the joker so you understand why my concern!

I went to see the Star wars the rise of skywalker. The movie itself was good expect the school kids was kind of loud. It would been better experience if the school children was so loud and would listen better to there teacher.

I am sorry, this theatre needs a serious upgrade!!!! From the smell of inside the theatre to the seats, to the people managing the lighting and previews and showing of the movie. Lets not forget the stale tasting popcorn. This place needs a huge upgrade. They ruined my whole movie experience. As for something they cant change the customers and how filthy they leave their surroundings maybe this is why the theatre is ran the way it is.

As much as I love this theater, my visit this time was horrible. An excessively drunk man was threatening other patrons as well as me and my family. We stayed as long as we could but it became unsafe and we left before the movie ended. That is the only reason I gave a one star rating. Other than that, I normally have a great time. Sorry Magic!!!!

I came here with my wife and my daughter last Saturday to see Peter Rabbit its actually a very nice theater pretty Modern Eyes many different theaters inside a decent concession stand. I and choose my seat and had to choose my seat I really have no complaints however keep in mind we went to an early show and it wasnt night time so your experience may vary later in the evening.

This location is run down and dirty. In much need of a remodel and cleaning. Video and audio were sub par for a modern theater. Employees were nice, friendly and welcoming.

You can choose your own seat and if your premium member you could popcorn and soda with your ticket

Its a good movie theater for hanging out with the guy or going to catch a flick in a pinch dont like the popcorn takes Dale

Pros: Ive been to this movie theater more than a few times. In the morning during matinee sessions (cheap times; 10, 10:30 & 11am depending on the movie), The theater appears clean. No long lines for tickets or entrees (unless its a world premiere or a school/summer camptrip), easy access to the restrooms, excellent customer service and the location (1 1/2 blocks away from 125th street; by the ABCD 125th street station, 2 1/2 blocks from the 2&3 ) would have me patronizing this location on a regular basis.Cons: However, during times that Ive went to the theatre in the evening or over the weekend,  it was a completely different story.  The lines were extremely long (even if you ordered your tickets through the kiosks or online), theater was in dire need of cleaning, sticky/nasty floors/chairs, old, funky smell omitting from a theater, food left over from people who saw the last premiere/movie before my arrival, nasty bathrooms and limited/overwhelmed staff has turned me off from patronizing this location on a regular basis.The 42nd street location is better for seeing a movie in the evenings. However, would recommend this theater to see a matinee or early show.

Little was a really good movie. Great for families and adults alike. Bathrooms were relatively clean. The seats are new but do not recline like other AMC theaters. Overall okay theater. I typically go there when supporting black films. Just feels different. Will go back again.

The crew member working the concession stand was super friendly and hilarious. We had a good laugh, it was a great way to start off our movie date. He also signed us up for the AMC membership, told us about the benefits, and also gave us a tip about a trailer that will play after the credits. I wish we caught his name, but he provided one of the best customer service experiences Ive had in a movie theatre to date.

Magic Johnson theatre is a historical place to watch movies with pictures of legend and icons of all genres backgrounds. As soon as you get to the third floor you will be like wow. Very clean place and staff members are very helpful and polite. I recommend you go here to watch a movie with family or friends you will love it. Etc...

They re found much better now. Better clerks. Better and faster services. Food court staff is super efficient too. I just wished that place was cleaner, bathrooms and allays are always gross!!

It was my first time here and I was amazed its really big it was very clean we had great seats we were able to choose our own seats the audio was good we went to see Jumanji and the food was good too especially since my granddaughter had the reward points and we paid like a dollar for curly fries

Its a cool theater but there seems to be a shortage in staff and organization especially when it comes to blockbuster movies and getting your food orders on time when the crowds are huge. My advice would be to arrive 30 mins before a normal movie and 45 mins before blockbuster movie start time. Even online orders will get delayed there.

I have to say even though Im giving this place 3 stars, I still go here often. Its within waking distance and convenient. The movies are great. Unfortunately the place is never clean and the bathrooms are lacking in maintenance. Try to see movies in theater 5. Thats the only one with reclining seats and surround sound!

Always liked coming here. I live way downtown but will happily support the MJ theater when I am uptown. The staff is great with the exception of the ticket lady. She talks way too much and a line forms quickly. I had to use the ticket dispensing machine to be sure I got to my seat in time. Also, time needs to be taken to clean the theater floors, since they are sticky. Particular attention needs to be given when PG movies are shown since the little people can make a mess. Thank you Magic Johnson for investing in Harlem!

Whenever I visit this theater I buy my tickets in advance to avoid the long line wait and horrible customer service... the movie Seats are horrible and the consession stand lines are ALWAYS long here, there never seems to be any Management present to ensure everything is running accordingly.

This is one of the worse theaters in NYC, they have no idea what customer service means. Extremely rude staff, forget about getting snacks, they are way over priced and you will be waiting in line for about thirty minutes. Horrible experience.

Carpeting heading in needs to be replaced the escalators up and down werent working. Used my A-list so no wait time for tickets or refreshments the staff were outstanding patient and helpful. Seats were not as comfortable and close not what Im used to for AMC movie 21 Bridges was great. Bathrooms were well kept

I didnt like the movie theater because the chairs is really small you bump with the person in front of you and with the person behind you so there is really no space for you to move around compared to the movie theater on Bay Plaza the chairs is really huge and you have a lot of space and you can also lay back and put your feet up

This theater is in a great location. Its many windows offer a great view for people watching on the busy 125th street. Food choices are great. Reclinging Seating has been upgraded in some theaters but not all. The lines move quickly some days but most days the food time waiting is long. Overall great theater.

I love this place so much. Its one of my favorites because they have recliner chairs, its very big, its a nice place, and the workers are very kind. I strongly recommend this movie theatre.

On Saturday April 21, 2019 I was at this theater with my family to see Little. I have no complaints about the movie I recommend it 100% .. The theater experience however was ATROCIOUS!!! I was in theater 7 and it was completely filthy! throw up on the floor, popcorn from a previous movie and the floors were severely sticky. The theater was Overcrowded and no one was sitting in the seats assigned prior to entering the theater. The concessions line was ridiculous and there too was a huge mess of popcorn and slushie cup lids, there was only one cashier who was moving very slow and one party had about 13 people in it. I had to wait in line 10-15 minutes just for a drink resulting in me missing parts of my movie. I also wasn’t expecting there to be so many toddlers in the movie as the movie was rated pg-13. I WILL NO BE RETURNING TO AMC MAGIC JOHNSON AGAIN as this was my worst movie theater experience.

I love this AMC but gave it 3 stars because as a premier member my 3 kids and I should not have to wait on the Premire line and miss 1hours of our movie waiting for popcorn while non Premire members clearly occupied the Premire line with no Managment to control the situation.

The new reclining seats theater is great, but all the money was put into that room and not into fixing the oven or the drink machines. So its nice to have a great viewing experience, but I would like the full menu to actually be available :)I had the popcorn, curly fries and water. They fries and popcorn were delicious
