This place is beyond awesome! This is definitely a New York City institution!! This has so many things to offer! So fun and so educational. They are very good about checking people to make sure they are not sick. Many checkpoints before going in. The color exhibit was just ok. It was a bit crowded. The T-Rex exhibit was not and it was totally worth it. The museum shop has so many neat stuff to buy. Staff was helpful where things are. The planetarium and space sections where the rocks are, are still closed. I definitely recommend this place for tourists and locals!! Enjoy!!

One of a kind experience that was beyond extraordinary. Its like my experience at the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, New Jersey: nothing wrong with it. This was a great experience. They did a great job to make you feel safe. I was a bit bummed that not everything was opened but that’s ok, there was enough to see anyways. It was great to go and not be over run with people. I could take my time and look at everything and not feel rushed. When you have time you really do notice a lot. My only suggestion would be to maybe sell water, that would have been helpful.

COVID INFO EXPERIENCE: museum seems to be doing their best. They have health check type stations you have to go through, and they have hand sanitizer everywhere. Masks are required, and the floor has directions to follow. They are also keeping the occupancy down, which is nice because its a lot less crowded than it probably would be normally. The BAD: not everyone kept their masks on once they got in. People were NOT staying 6ft apart, masks or not, and some people were not following the directions guides. These are not problems that are unique to here, but they did not seem to be trying to enforce all of this as best as they might have. Less people or not, it doesnt matter so much when a group of 4 (kids included) are walking the wrong way against the flow with no masks on.In terms of the museum: it was fun. The main problems are there are only 2 special exhibits (one about the T-REX, and another about the Nature of Color) neither of which I saw; some other sections are closed (Meteor, Gems, part of space) which was a bummer. Not sure if this is a result of COVID messing up schedules, or if its what they would have planned for end of summer/early September, just wanted to put it all out there.Overall it seems theyre doing what they can, but Id like them to be stricter about enforcement of their rules, and although not everything is open, it was still nice, especially because there were less people than there normally would be.4 outta 5 because of the sections being closed, and the lack of special exhibits right.

Very cleaned, hand sanitizer all over the place which is good during this pandemic. I panicked a bit at the amount of guest in and coming to the museum but since most of the museum is not closed off, it allowed people to keep a safe distance. The Ross Hall of Meteorites has staff overlooking the amount of people entering. Just bummed that most of the shops were closed. But safe and clean during pandemic is a good sign.

The best part of my trip. So much to see, each exhibition well put together and sectioned. Amazing artifacts from all over the world and so little time to digest it all. Loads of replicas and reenactments and molds depicting the culture of peoples. The only issue I had was identifying what was authentic and what had been made for display as there were no detailed descriptions of each item. And the dinosaur exhibition was life-size, as was most of the others and jaw widening. Do not miss this. Tickets are $23 for general admission, $28 for plus one special show (pick of volcanoes, dinosaurs or Butterflies) and $33 for all specials

They have other things as well such as the human anatomy, gemstone collections, animal models from around the globe, and marine collections. The staffs are plenty helpful and they manage the CDC guideline for this pandemic well. In order to visit, you have to book your visit online. If youre from NY, NJ and PA you get to pay as you wish given that you bring prove of address with you (state ID/drivers license/electricity bills/library card). One ID card is applicable for a party of 3.

I went to AMNH for the first time since COVID yesterday. To control crowds they are doing reservation based ticketing to get in. There was plenty of space to spread out and even the dinosaur exhibit that is usually packed was pretty empty. It actually gave you the chance to stand and read about different things that are usually blocked. There are hand sanitizing stations all of over the place, a lot of one ways, and signs when you’re entering a narrow corridor so you know to stay the right. The only negative is that there are a lot of exhibits closed including the meteorite room but it would be a cleaning nightmare so I get it. All in all, I never felt unsafe or overwhelmed so make the trip! Also, they still have the pay what you want tickets for people in the tri-state area.

One of the finest museums in the Nation. Such a huge collection of artifacts and animals. It is easy to get lost in here just exploring all the nooks and crannies that exist. There is always a large crowd, but the space is large enough to handle almost anything, and you never feel like there are too many people in one specific area at one time. However, unlike places like the Field Museum in Chicago, this Museum doesnt quite reach that Im in an ancient place feeling for me. Im not sure if its a lack of funding, or skilled crafts people or what, but many of the eyes used in the taxidermy are cloudy and lifeless, which I know is a really weird thing to focus on, but it was odd to see that almost every exhibit had these cloudy strange looking eyes used in them.Another thing that bothered me was the lack of transparency when it came to when a special event was going to disturb regular museum goers. There was a special overnight event happening for New York City Students which caused certain exhibits to close at 3pm while the staff set up for the event. This included the MASSIVE underwater/polar exhibit hall where the Blue Whale specimen is held. This was highly disappointing as I had been saving that exhibit for the end of my daughter and Is trip to the museum and we were unable to see it at all due to the shutdown. I dont begrudge the museum for having a special event, but I do wish I had known certain areas would be inaccessible after a time so I would have made them a priority earlier in the day rather than missing out entirely. All in all this is a must visit while youre in NYC, the number of specimens is just not to be missed.

The American Museum of Natural History  located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York City, is the largest natural history museum in the world. Located in Theodore Roosevelt Park across the street from Central Park, the museum complex comprises 28 interconnected buildings housing 45 permanent exhibition halls, in addition to a planetarium and a library. The museum collections contain over 33 million specimens of plants, animals, fossils, minerals, rocks, meteorites, human remains, and human cultural artifacts, of which only a small fraction can be displayed at any given time, and occupies more than 2 million square feet (190,000 m2). I know that giving four stars to a world class museum is a very arrogant thing to do, but I truly believe this museum is due for some updates. The layout is absolutely perplexing. There is relatively no consistent signage, which makes way finding terribly difficult. I know we’re not alone, because we walked past dozens of people walking in circles and holding their maps just as confused as we were. There were no docents or helpful staff, only security guards that barked nonsensical orders, like “don’t hold your toddler on your shoulders” when we asked for directions. The artifacts truly are incredible, but the process of finding them proves to be much more work than it needed to be.

AMNH is probably the best museum in the United States (Ive been to all in the DC, NYC, and Philadelphia areas). It really does live up to its reputation. On Saturdays, they offer admission by donation; however, I would recommend visiting during the week if you are able (even if it means taking a day off from work) and paying for full-access because the crowd level is significantly lower and the special exhibits are always worth the cost. The gift shop is reasonably priced and the cafeteria (which is probably not open in 2020) is a bit pricey but since there arent many places to eat in the area, it might be the most affordable option around.Must see: Dinosaurs on the 4th floor and the various Halls of Peoples on the 2nd floor.

Has pretty much everything you need. You can definitely visit everything in one day if you rush. How do you do it - Get the full access ticket and schedule all the exhibitions in advance. This ticket is definitely worth it. If you buy tickets inside, there is probably a line for them. I went on a Wednesday in February when it had snowed heavily in the morning. Still the museum was jam packed. I liked all the exhibitions except unseen oceans ( which was just a section which was primarily targeting kids ) and would highly recommend backyard wilderness, space show ( if you want to hear Neils voice ) and butterfly conservatory ( if you like to take pics with butterflies sitting on you ).Tips-1. Decide what kind of ticket you want in advance and buy it online.2. Recommend to not buy tickets for shows inside.3. Take the map and ask the staff where the exhibitions are being held and mark them. They are really difficult to find on your own even with the map.4. Plan the route taking into account exhibition times as they are scattered all over.5. If you decide to see it all in one day, come as soon as it opens, if you dont wanna drop dead at the end of the day and definitely plan your route.Pros:1. Has all the sections for a natural history museum2. Chair of Hayden planetarium is Neil Degrease Tyson ( dont think he is here much though )3. I loved touching the meteors ( Dont think I touched any in the DC museum )Cons:1. Too many children2. Staff do not care about you as evidenced by letting all people rush in when the planetarium3. If you’ve never been to a history museum, then by far this is certainly one you must visit. However, it is very easy to get lost in this museum (whether that’s good or bad is up to you). But the museum itself is rather old so exhibits aren’t easily connected and aren’t too interactive either. Overall, I’d say definitely visit if you’ve never been, but not something I’d prioritize if you only have a short visit. Btw, this museum is PAY WHAT YOU WISH! Don’t fall victim to the listed prices or online tickets, go in person to the counter and feel free to pay whatever you want for admission!

Great museum experience! The exhibits are very well done, detailed and realistic. The admission is a suggested amount, but you are free to pay whatever you want to enter the museum. This museum is magical and everyone should go at least once in their lifetime.

It wasnt as crowded as last months Art Walk and my 3rd eye is telling me its due to some hot mess disagreements amongst the organizers over the running of the Art walk. And maybe the rain too. Anyway, I guess since it has been so hugely successful, people are toying with the idea of turning it into for pay venue.

Natural history, art and more. I’d even like to come back to here and the MET for a 2nd NYC trip because infact it’s so big that I didn’t even explore it all

One of the most famous museums in the world that must be visited if ever in New York. You can purchase tickets online or if you’d like can simply make a donation of your choosing at the point of entry and that will be your admission charge. You can spend hours within the museum visit each of the wings and exhibits but our primary focus was the dinosaurs. Sadly the T-Rex exhibit was closed when we went due to flooding of some sorts the previous week. Still a fun time overall.

One of my favorite places in the world. My family and I enjoy being members. Its a savings as we visit several times a year and we skip the lines in the member entrances. My kids and I absolutely loved their Night at the Museum event, which we recently attended.

Take a lot time to park and enter, but it is great inside. Nearly 100% mask. The one way sign helps but could be a little confusing.

10 stars to this museum.Oh my God! is super cool, place is huge, we spent 3 hours inside and we weren’t able to get to know the whole place. Is AMAZING!You’ll find a lot of different stuffs that you won’t even see in the pictures. A great place not just to have fun but you’ll learn a lot about different cultures around the world.
