Manhattan Theatre Club is a smaller venue but has had some very notable plays and has hosted some award winning shows including 19 Tony Awards. The theater can seat about 300 people so you will have a more intimate show.

The Manhattan Theater Club based in the City Center is a high quality institution. The Center houses three theaters, allowing it to offer a variety of types of theater, all in one place as well as a the renovated Friedman Theater that is a Broadway house in another location. No matter which of their venues you visit, whether it be: the enormous main stage at the Center, the Broadway house , the off-broadway house or the box theater you are in for quality; typically with well known performers.

Nice theater, we where in the smaller of the two. Its very intermediate with decent views to the stage from most seats. The seats are a little uncomfortable compared to come other theaters but thats just the way it goes in the smaller sized places. The staff are great here from the bar man to the ushers everyone was so friendly and helpful. The theater was not that full so they where moving people around to make sure everyone had the best view.Pricing for food and drinks is as expected, inflated but not outlandish. The strange thing here is you cant take snacks into the theater, only drinks so eat quick or just dont even bother.I will definitely be happy coming back here to watch shows.

Small, but beautiful theater. Had a snack bar for patrons and a cash bar for those of us who were not patrons. Very friendly staff. Saw Bella! Bella! there and it was a perfect venue for it.

Wonderful small theater. No bad seats. I like the temperature cool so it was perfect for me but if you get cold quickly bring a sweater.

Great venue with reasonable prices. Interesting plays and intimate stages. Id go see a random show here without foreknowledge of even the plot or theme.

Always good for artistic inspection. Forget what you think you know and go to an experimental play. Thank me later.

Perfection. Ive not had the perfect combination of comfort, sight lines, intimacy, and sound until Stage 1 of Manhattan Theatre Club.I saw Incognito starring Geneva Carr, Charlie Cox, Heather Lind, & Morgan Spector (Separate show review upcoming). The actors arent micd (at least I dont think they were, it was very directional) and the sound was excellent from my seat at stage left, E6.Stage 1 is the larger of the two and in the basement. It seats 300 or so people, so it still qualifies as intimate. The couple next to me moved over but I dont think any of the sight lines are actually bad. Row E was the perfect distance from the stage for me. But if you are front row center, theres a couple of moments when the actors are almost in your lap (Hyperbole!).Very high risers so nothing obstructs the stage. Also very comfortable seats with tons of leg room. So comfortable that sitting through an 1 hour 25 min. show with no intermission, you wont enter the stage I call Butt Fatigue.Theres a bar and if Im not mistaken, two coat checks.Fully ADA Compliant, with listening devices. What I think I love the most... Stage 1 is a total cellphone dead zone.Like I said, perfect.

We have been subscribers for several years now and we have thoroughly enjoyed everything that we have seen that the Manhattan theater Club has put on. True the club, we have seen Tony award-winning plays: dramas, comedies, dramedies, you name it. Highly recommend!

Nice venue, the play (Harry Townsends Last Stand) was a little meager, but probably because we were about 30 years younger than the target demographic.

An easy Midtown location... What I have seen has been in the two smaller theaters... There is one large theater with 650 seats and two smaller theaters with 300 + 150 seats.Off-Broadway stuff in an area quite near Broadway. Elevators and handicapped accessibility.

Theatre with 2 stages. Larger upper floor stage and lower level more intimate 2nd stage. Great for plays as i saw a performance on the lower level. Lobby is a bit confusing as box office and stairs to lower stage has only one door at the far left with one small ticket booth and stairs leading down. No signs outside say this and so i inadvertantly entered the uppper level theatre. Could use a bit of organizing. Acousitcs on lower level didnt project as much as well in that theatre. Overall though quite comfortable and intimate for plays.
