Second time sealed it, this is the best theater experience of all time. I have never seen music, movement and costuming work so seamlessly together. The actors are incredible and the show itself is mind-blowing. What really puts it over the top is the attention to detail in the set, unlike anything Ive ever seen before. This is a must see for New Yorkers and theater people everywhere, but it is imperative to come with an open mind️

This was a super interesting experience. We had some awesome one on one experiences with the actors. Not everybody in our group was willing to chase everybody from scene to scene (yes... you will find you’ve got to run) but those that couldn’t sprint around were able to see some fun scenes. The best part was telling each other our experiences afterwards. Stick around to the end and follow the same person for as long as you can. Switch actors when they all come back together again and you’re sure to get the most out of the storyline. Very fun interactive experience. Not for everybody. There is nudity, violence, etc. because.... Macbeth.

Absolutely incredible!!! I highly recommend this to anyone who wants a night of mystery, seduction, excitement and a touch of fear. My advice...venture on your own. That path was chosen for me, but it couldn’t have been designed any better. Also, some follow the actors room to room but what I find is going the opposite direction, staying away from the large groups always put me exactly where I needed to be. I will never forget this night. Thank you for creating something so immersive that I was able to get so beautifully lost in.

Very cool experience! Went with my family and everyone enjoyed it. Be prepared to walk so wear comfy sneakers. The cell signal for some phones are nonexistent inside so make sure if you go with a group discuss where you’re gonna meet in the end. I recommend reading a bit about what the show is about so that you know where to go at certain time (otherwise you’ll get very confused and not see much acting). Also, there are student tickets (didn’t know when I was a student)

Sleep no more has the customie to the customers. They are accustomed to lie to their customers and say they can go to the 2nd floor bar at any time and continue the store at any time. When on the second floor they have security in concert not allowing you to rejoin the experience it is a complete scam they dont care and will take all your money. Highway robbery to say the least. Report this place to the B.B.B. (The Better Business Bureau - for tourist). Dont waste your time, money and patience on this garbage of a place. They do not care or respect their clientele. So if you are into having a horrible experience by all means waste away otherwise dont fall ignorant to these con artist. Literally con artist. All of them.

Mind blown. Hard to describe something that has no equivalent. This is beyond the usual Broadway shows. I googled for something unique to see or do in NYC. This appeared and its exactly that. Its called immersive theatre and the team did a fantastic job in providing that experience. It has a somewhat choose your adventure element which I believe is why there are varying degrees of audience satisfaction. If you want a one-of-a-kind thing to do in NYC that you wont find anywhere (yet), this is a must.

A unique experience that involves almost all of your senses. You enter and your perception changes immediately, every room has its own special smell, sound or music, temperature and humidity. You can use your hands to find hidden entrances behind curtains or false walls. You dont need to worry about following the plot of the play, it is just impossible, just enjoy what you see (try to learn about the story of Macbeth in advance). All in all an unforgettable experience, really recommended!

I just came out of this and am already feeling the buyer’s remorse for the tickets.Pros:-It’s warm in here and that’s nice for NYC in the winter time.-There is a bar, so drink away, otherwise I dont see how you can tolerate this experience.-The idea of Sleep is intriguing.-The sets are elaborate and can elicit responses and convey mood and atmosphere. This is about where it ends in terms of the good.Cons-If you’re expecting any actual dialogue or acting from the play Macbeth, then sorry. Don’t think of this as theater. Think of it more as a haunted house without all of the fun.-Like all other theater in NYC, it’s expensive-Staff is rude and pushy... and I do mean the staff will literally push you while you are going from room to room even if there is nowhere to go or there are people in front of you just dawdling.-No crowd control makes it very easy to have obstruction of view when there is actually something worth watching.-The combo of lack of crowd control and being forced to wear masks makes the audience very pushy and inconsiderate of personal space.-There is no actual acting - just interpretive dance which is just awful and pretentious. As if these actors couldnt be bothered to learn lines.-No guide and no context for any of the “scenes” making the whole ordeal very confusing and frustrating. I know the play Macbeth really well and I still can’t tell you what the hell I just saw. So the whole concept and production of Sleep is a total waste for Shakespeare fans like myself.Overall, very disappointing. This is supercilious, pretentious swill at its worst.

Must try at least twice! Because you won’t know whats going on the first time, at all The best advices I can give are:1) Read Macbeth sparknotes so you know the story2) Go in at the earliest showing of a set so you can explore the story 3 times (example: 9-12 is a complete set, story resets on the hour, if you enter at 10 you’ll only go through the story twice)3) be brave & patient - don’t hesitate to make eye contacts with the cast! They pull you to have 1:1s4) Be ready to run, a lotIf you’re easily offended this show is probably not for you... it can be scary at times but it’s so cool!! Just go with it!!

The idea behind it is awesome. There are 4 floors I explored and two stories I managed to follow. I also got lucky to get to a secret room with one of the heros. The acting skills of heroes are amazing. But! A lot of people is a big minus. As many other reviewers before, I would really advise the business to limit the number of people (and raise the tickets cost to cover the gap), because at some point, you dont see anything and lose you hero being unable to follow him because of the crowd.

It was definitely a unique experience, but its not for everyone. I appreciate the work they put into costumes, design set, an choreography. However, it was slow paced and lasted 3 hours. There were times when some of the actors/dancers just danced in place for a good 5-10minutes and you felt like you just wasted your time following this character. Theres almost no dialogue and its mainly interpretive dancing so you gotta be into that. The storyline was not clear. I dont necessarily regret it, but I wouldnt go again and I wouldnt be sad if I never went. Again, this is more of a personal taste than the actual quality. The actors/dancers are good at their job, but it was at many times, boring. Also, you have to pay an extra $4 to put away your coat and bag, which is mandatory. If you do go, READ A SUMMARY OF MACBETH, because thats what its based on. This might give you a better idea of whats going on.

First of all I wanted to say that the show itself was great and deserves a 5-star rating. However, we received two tickets and a $100 gift voucher for our wedding. Living in Europe, we had 1 shot to visit and redeem the voucher. However, on this evening (25th November 2019) the cash register wasnt working, so there was an open bar concept. Furthermore, the restaurant was under construction. So we didnt have any choice to spend the $100 voucher that night. Going back to Europe two days later also made it impossible to visit the show again.Even though we explained the situation, the management wasnt understanding and now $100 is lost, as we have no use of the gift voucher. This is a lot of money and its audacious to be treated like that. Therefore, 1 star. Im sorry for the actors that might suffer from the incompetence of the management.

The concept is great ! You walk through a hotel to discover and explore a story /play. You can touch objects and see small plays / actions from different characters. You are totally free and its better to do it alone (please, leave your husband, wife, friends and enjoy it on your own!)However, I was totally frustrated because I have explored a lot but I didnt see much of the plays. The small acts were mostly very crowded and Im a small person... So I couldnt see much. Moreover, I spent 3 hours there and I experienced only 5 or 6 acts. And I didnt have the chance to see the final act completely.I would love to see it again after reading the play its based on but its quite expensive... (which I totally understand because of the cast, the staff and the stage set).So read the book first, then enjoy this show.

This is an experience you need to have on your own. Youll most likely get separated from your group so this really isnt a group activity. It was fine for our group since we had a lot to talk about at the end of the show. The performers were amazing, especially dealing with all the spectators. Some spectators just dont have basic etiquette and dont understand boundaries. Dont be that person. Dont touch the performers. The show is hard to follow, only because you might lose a character in the crowd of people. When you move on to the next character, its sometimes hard to tell where in the timeline theyre starting off with. Eventually, some scenes repeat, but I didnt mind because it helps you understand the story a little more. The only down side of the show was the amount of people they allow to enter per session. If youre vertically challenged, youll have a hard time getting through the crowd or seeing the performance/scene. Use props and platforms you can find to see over peoples giant heads. Keep up with the performer so that youll be at the front of each scene.

At least I tried once. There is basically no story line, you just followed actor or actress around. In the beginning you can see some of the act. When it really crowded, I mean you will have 20-30 people running around, you will not see anything. Sometimes people will push around to get in front of you to see a very tiny so called stages. Most of the act last about 30 sec to 1 min. The place was pretty dark and the mask they gave you was very uncomfortable if you wear glasses. Expect to walk or run a lot. Very good concept. But it really didn’t work well when you were together with a huge crowd of audience. I went on Saturday evening and there were too many people crowding around to try to catch up with the fast moving actors/actresses. I was pushed by a rude lady multiple times when following an actor and it really ruined my mood for the show. They need to do a better job to limit the population. In terms of the show itself, my biggest complaint is that while there are so many story lines of so many different roles happening simultaneously, the story of each one of them is too simple. Since the actors/actresses only rely on body language to perform, there is not that much story that can be told within one hour.

As an audience member, Ive never experienced theatre in the same way as I did with Sleep No More. The performance is a presentation of Macbeth, but with no spoken word. The story is told through dance and the props and staged throughout the many rooms on five floors of an old hotel. Each audience member wears a mask to not only hide their own emotion but to maintain that separation between cast and audience. Definitely worth seeing!

I wished Id read the mixed reviews earlier (I was told not to look the show up in advance) ; Id have been wise enough not to go.There are some positives. The decor is fantastically elaborate and the set-up is intriguing and beautiful. Its like a hotel slash curiosity shop. The dancers are beautiful and dance beautifully (if you like contemporary dance). They are dancers though, not actors. This is not a play. There is a very loose resemblance to Macbeth, but frankly, there is no substance. The spectacle is like a series of scenes vaguely re-enacting parts of Macbeth. Its not one of those performances that is so smart that you have to search for its meaning. There is no meaning. This is style over substance at its finest. And, my, how we paid for it. 100 dollars per person for ten minutes of acting max.To add insult to injury, you have to pay 4 dollars to check your bag into the cloakroom. This isnt optional. Sleep No More clearly has the best business model on Broadway. You spend your time running round following dancers. Where they go, we the sheep follow. So much so that you cant even see whats going on as there are so many people crowding each scene, trying to pretend they get what is happening. Bring trainers; its a workout of the worst kind.Once you realise you could have a more amusing run elsewhere, you escape and get to enjoy a delicious, albeit expensive (17 dollars) cocktail.Dont be a sheep like me. Read the reviews at least, and, if vaguely contemporary dance isnt your thing, save yourself 100 dollars.

Absolutely awful! Dont waste your time. This was by far the worst thing I did in my trip to NY.You wander around in dark rooms looking for actors. When you finally find an actor they are surrounded by a mob of 50 other guests pushing to get the best view possible. 30 minutes into this trash I wanted to go home.Go see Then She Fell in Brooklyn instead. The entire thing is done in groups of 1 to 3 people with actual actor engagement.Sleep No More is just a bunch of wandering, rushing for a good view, and boredom. Trust me. Ive seen both and Then She Fell is a million times better.

It was an awesome experience. Still thinking about it months later. Got one of the special experiences at the beginning. Just watch out for fellow guests who will gladly trample you to follow one of the actors/actresses.

Equally amazing as it was confusing. Plan to go more than once to fully appreciate whats going on. Rooftop bar is fantastic too.

Great concept but ultimately, there were just far too many audience members to enjoy it. Every actor or group of actors had a massive crowd (50+ people in some cases) running after them from scene to scene, making it impossible to see anything, let alone have any interactions with the actors (there was none). Being surrounded by that many audience members also makes it more difficult to suspend disbelief, because you become keenly aware of the fact that you’re in an audience, as opposed to in the show setting itself. There also weren’t that many actors in total. The set is beautiful and intricate though, and fun to walk around (at least at first).Sleep No More may have been great when it first came out, but it’s simply unenjoyable and unwatchable in its current state.

Be sure to brush up on your knowledge of Macbeth before attending. If I understood it more it will be a 5 stars. The props and casts were amazing so were the drinks.

I couldnt recommend doing this more. The theatrical experience is amazing, wierd, scary and overwhelming all at the same time.Try and keep up with one character if you can, but they run fast so be prepared to be on the move for the entire show. Male sure you take the time to explore each floor, there is so much to see!Ill leave it as that as I dont want to spoil it for you folks!

I loved this. Don’t expect to view a linear plot, instead expect more of an atmospheric experience where you can choose your own path. You can follow one character or another, or look around a room and see what you find. The acting is fantastic, and they convey so much even though performers rarely say anything. It can get crowded at some times, but that’s mainly when an important scene is taking place, or when you’re following a main character. Hang out with the side characters for a bit to avoid crowds and experience a different side to the performance. Shout out to the porter - he was my personal favorite character! There isn’t a lot of running if you don’t want, but do expect to keep a good pace if you want to stick with one character. I highly recommend this - I’ve never experienced anything like it and it blew my mind.

Awesome experience. Might need to do it a couple of times to attend all the scenarii.Quick advise: Live your own experience, visit by yourself! (specially if you are going with a group.)

This was the most interesting play that I have ever experienced! I want to go again! My advice: 1) wear shoes that you can run in (it is dark and there is uneven ground in the hotel), and you want to be able to follow the actors. 2) Follow whatever interests you and let yourself go in separate ways from your group. You will each have way better stories to tell each other in the bar afterwards!

Hands down the best thing I did on NYC. It can get a bit crowded and I feel I like people need to chill out running after the actors (stop and smell the flowers) Keep your mind open, leave any cynicism at home... Embrace the surreal. Do it on your own.

I guess it’s not my cup of tea. I’m surprised so many people actually liked it. Happy for them cause I got out way before the end.
