Despite the small size, this theatre is quite cozy. Very comfortable seats. Well ventilated. Although old, it is very well kept. And because it isn’t too big, all seats are quite good and have good views. And clearly tickets are cheap.

Watched Hillary and Clinton here. Cozy theater with comfortable seats. We had orchestra seats and view was amazing. Central Times square location.

Slave Play was gut wrenching, captivating, & bold. High quality handling of race & interracial struggles. The Actors were phenomenal. Jeremy O. Harris moved the conversation on race ahead at least a generation. BRAVO!

Unobstructed View of the stage from mezzanine. No worries about looking over or between the heads of the people seated in front of you. Not much leg room for tall folks.

One of the most beautiful theatres on Broadway! Its Spanish style architecture and intimate size makes it a must see. This space was made for amazing theatre and it always delivers!

Saw an amazing play here (Slave Play). Sight lines from the front mezzanine were great but the seats were Lilliputian and the leg room zip (knees at 90°only). My right knee was screaming by 90 minutes in. You have to schedule intermissions (even if the restrooms are two levels down) or its near impossible to sit through long performances here.

Great theater very comfortable the show was very intimate all seats from anywhere you sit give you great views...they dont let you really take pictures once a place starts and it was raining on the outside so I dont have any outside images but its right off Broadway and any show that you go to their Im sure youll enjoy the seats and the atmosphere.

Very clean professional theater....very comfortable seating...bar and very clean bathrooms in basement area...ushers are very informative and mannerly....tonight i had the pleasure of viewing a play called Slave Play! Wow....what a play! Very graphic...very humorous....a must see! This play will blow you away!

Slave Play is a must see. For adults only! The cast was amazing you could feel the energy. No intermission but you dont miss it. The constant flow of energy is awesome. Joaquina Kalukango performance is award-winning.

Saw Slave Play here today and I absolutely enjoyed it. The seating was a noticeably a little cramped but not enough in my opinion to warrant any major issues. Will definitely visit again in the future.

Good theater. Allowed us to move up after show time. Seats were roomy enough and site lines were good except the upper upper mezzanine. Staff was helpful and friendly. Bathrooms were clean and all the way downstairs. Drinks were pricey.

IT IS A BEAUTIFUL THEATER. THE SHOW WAS VERY ENJOYABLE. JOHN LITHGOW IS A GREAT ACTOR AND THIS WAS MY EXITING CHANCE TO GET TO SEE HIM LIVE.WOULD HAVE GIVEN 5 STARS HAD THE SEATS NOT BEEN SO CRAMPED AND UNCOMFORTABLE.

Even though the seating is a bit cramped and steep, this is still a nice theater and even though we were all the way at the top, we still had a great view of the stage.

Usher were in place, informative and polite . Play started on time, bathrooms clean and stocked, hand soap smell great, like apples. Enjoyable experience.

Dont get me wrong, Hillary and Clinton was an excellent show. This is about the theatre. How awful is it to be crammed into seats like cattle and be made to sit in such discomfort for any amount of time. I get that a theatre makes money on butts in seats and the more butts, the more money. But thats not a good enough excuse anymore. Something actually has to be done to fix this problem. Someone like me, with a tic disorder, needs some room to move and the spacing between adjacent seats and seats front and back is just too minimal. Its humiliating and offensive. Ive sat in other theatres; still tight but not this tight. Definitely not seeing a show here again.

Seats are tiny. I was lucky enough to have legroom because i was in back center (row H seat 102, if you wanna know) so the stairs were in front of me, contrary to what the seating chart shows, I was not next to an aisle, I was crammed in between two people.

Really the name is deceptive, a great show .Who said that ? A show about therapist without a sense of humor or a weird one at best.Nothing here has to do about slave trade. Now I need therapy and physiotherapy for sitting thru the show for nearly 2 hours .

The John Golden Theatre is among some of the best seating on Broadway. If I can sit in a seat comfortably for 90 mins with no intermission, then 96% of the adult population can as well. Plenty of leg room, plenty wide, plenty cushy.Verging on the smaller side sized theater. Excellent acoustics. I was seated in Row M Seat 115. Perfect. I could see all the actor spittle with no fear of getting hit by it.Great sight lines. Well, for me... Im tall. The incline isnt all that steep so I cant tell you what it was like for the people behind me, but I dont think it was a problem. I couldnt have been the tallest person in the Orchestra and no one else looked blocked.The restrooms are on the lowest level. I didnt venture down so I cant speak on them. Theres not much of a lobby or vestibule so its slow exiting because people block the doors despite the staff politely telling them not to. It didnt help that it was pouring outside either.The stage door is to the right, accessible from both sides. Since it was pouring, I didnt stick around to get my playbill signed but I did see Jim Parsons (Sheldon, Big Bang Theory) go in. He was wearing a snazzy hat.For all the complainers, it’s a 90 year old theater, not your living room. Adjust your expectations.

Beautiful details on ceiling and walls in this old Broadway theater. Good sight lines, reasonably helpful ushers, good acoustics. Steep stairs to mezzanine as is true with pretty much all those old theaters.

Theatre was great. Seating like a stadium (steep) but no obstruction of view. Sound was great, lighting and stage were interesting. There were only 4 characters (John Lithgow and Laurie Metcalf were the headliners) who made the experience awesome. Bathroom was large and clean. Staff was great!

I came here to see the Waverly Gallery at this historic theater, which was amazing. The location is intimate, and the seats are on the smaller side. I sat in the side section but could see well because a shorter person sat in front of me. Next time, Ill get a seat in the front of the second balcony.

I am surprised at the negative reviews. This is a venerable NYC theater, intimate, with great sight lines. We saw Laurie Metcalf and John Lithgow in Hillary and Clinton, and while the production had some gender issues, the theater itself; acoustics, seating etc. was excellent.

The seats were very tight, tall people BEWARE! My knees were screaming by the end of Slave Play (which was excellent btw)

Phenomenal Venue...saw The Gin Game here featuring James Earl Jones and Cicely Tyson (December 2015). Every seat is a great seat. Great service and hospitality as well. Thanks so very much for the great entertainment.

Stately ornate theatre. Unfortunately leg room is cramped so if youre 6 feet tall better check if the play has an intermission. I also wouldnt choose seats in back mezzanine due to its steep stadium seating. This is no reflection on the quality of plays they host which should be a primary motivator.

Old (1927) theatre with close in seats. Temperature was warm, but knowing that before we stripped down to short sleeves and were comfortable during Waverly Gallery. Good accoustics and sight lines from the orchestra. Bathrooms are downstairs.

The theater has the feel of an old time theater with its painted ceiling. It seems like every seat has a good sightline.

Saw Hillary Clinton.. Seats really tight and sat in the middle balcony. Visibility was fine. Show was entertaining with two masterful leads John Lithgow and Laurie Metcalf. 90 minutes no intermission which was perfect.

Youd better have very short legs. Its one of the oldest theatres in NYC. Very vertical and squeezed tight. Good acoustics though.

While I think the play Hillary and Clinton was well acted sub par written, and the theater staff here hated everyone, the theater itself, the building, the entrance and exits, the seats, they were all wonderful. Every seat is a great seat and every chance to see a show is a great day.

Watched the Wavering Gallery play. Great sound and great views. Seats are a liiiittle cramped but just comfortable enough for a 2.5hr play with an intermission. Went during winter and was a little warm...full house.

It is a beautifully detailed and intricately exquisite theater. It gets a 3 because although others have said it is intimate...the legroom is nonexistent. We sat front row in the mezzanine. Im 54, 130 lbs and my left leg fell asleep and my nerve pinched causing sciatica and my boyfriend who had knee surgery was extremely uncomfortable because the guy next to him sat on a slant because he was squished the woman to my right unfortunately, did not know how to cover her mouth when coughing...even when I first just looked at her and second when I offered her a tissue to do so. Eww. TOO intimate. As for the play, we went to see to comic icons and great actors but the play took place in a white box that was supposed to be a hotel room, and now I understand why they didnt make it look that way. If they put a bed and chairs and had a comfortable theater everyone would have fallen asleep. It was sad, depressing, and made me wish I had gone to see a true comedy I passed on the way to this theater.

Cute theatre. Waverley Gallery was amazing. The story is so real and touching. Elaine May, Lucas Hedges, Joan Allen, Michael Cera and David Cromer are all fantastic!

Like most Broadway theatres seats are uncomfortable with very little leg room. Sound system is good and good sight lines

Saw Three Tall Women. Beautiful old designs on walls and ceiling. Pretty narrow knee space in the seat rows like most theaters these days.

I enjoy the charm of this theater. Staff is friendly and its an intimate house without a bad seat. Heads up -- the restroom for the whole theater is in the downstairs lounge. If youre sitting in the mezzanine, head to the restroom before you get seated unless you want to get your steps in for the day. One accessible stall on the main level for those who cant do stairs.

This ancient NYC theatre was built when the peanut gallery was filled with the starving masses. The legroom in the balcony is less than any cut-rate sardine can airline you have ever heard of. Tonights show was 90 minutes/No Intermission. I would have been better standing the whole time.

Ive been a bit of a Goldilocks lately. Looking for something thats not too big, not too small. After seeing a couple of shows within the past two months, Ive come to realize the Golden Theater is my Just Right. Despite being seated in the penultimate row, I still had a great view of the actors & stage design. Being able to hear was not an issue - the hustle & bustle of city did not intrude on my theater-going experience. I was fully able to enjoy Seminar. Its a great play, highly recommend it.

Loved the layout. We were towards the top but could see perfectly. The downside to this was that it was very steep to get to mezzanine level, and there didnt look like there was any elevator for those who couldnt make the climb

The production of A Dolls House - Part 2 is amazing. The cast is brilliant. The starkness of the set is very effective as a counterpoint to the costumes. The lighting helps keep the focus on each character as the show progresses.As for the theatre itself the seats are small and low to the floor. Prior to the performance, a member of the theatre staff was allowing women to use the mens restroom stalls, while men were using the urinals..and telling men who needed to use the stalls that they would have to wait in line like the women. Needless to say, we found this highly unusual and disrespectful for both women and men.The usher who seated us was curt and rude. When she seated the woman in front of us, she literally threw the Playbill onto the seat.I realize the comments about the theatre itself do not pertain to the production, but they do reflect my experience as an audience member.

The theater was fine, the show, A Doll;s House Part 2 was very good. My only complaint was about the rude people in the audience who left their cell phones on. I heard phones ring multiple times and dings when people got e mail messages. Very annoying.
