New York City Ballet’s performance of the Nutcracker Is delightfully joyful! I haven’t attended the Nutcracker in 35 years and this year’s performance is just as magical as I remembered. I can’t imagine the New York City Holiday Season without The Nutcracker! It’s a must see ballet for all, especially if you’re visiting NYC. The children’s performance was wonderfully superb! The dancers are so talented and enthralling! The icing on the cake was to see principal dancer Teresa Reichlen perform!!! She’s mesmerizing!!!A word about the David Koch Theatre. I had orchestra seats and an extraordinary view; I was able to watch the overall ballet and also was able focus on individual dancers. I don’t think there’s a bad seat in the entire theater. I’ve read reviews that second level seating is preferable to watch the overall ballet. Regardless of your seat, you’ll enjoy New York City Ballet’s performance of the Nutcracker.

A peice of fine art by Balanchine. I watched it at third ring c_14, and personally I preferred my seat over those expensive orchestra seats; you can see the whole stage easily and also close enough to see the each and every movement of the dancers. Unless you want to see the dancers faces , Id recommend more economic options - third ring or even fourth ring seats.

My boyfriend got me tickets to see The Nutcracker for Christmas and it was the most wonderful gift and performance! I had never been to the ballet before so wasnt sure what to wear, I saw some folks in bow ties and dresses with heels and others in more casual attire. If youre looking for advice mine is to dress comfortable and respectful to the performers. I highly recommend seeing a show, I already cant wait to see another!

Magnificent setting bringing forth the vision of one of the greatest choreographers in history. Unmatched dancing by some of the worlds greatest performers. One of the worlds most creative companies, constantly nurturing new choreographers. A superlative orchestra. If only the ticket prices didnt keep going up and up and up....

Went to see the NYC Ballet production, Classic NYCB II at Lincoln Center last night. It was awesome. Included music in one piece by Michael Nyman, and choreography in another by Jerome Roberts. Both were highlights on a terrific evening. Definitely one of our favorite evenings at NYCB. David H Koch Theater is a terrific venue and we intend to see more NYCB there this season. Such a great company and amazing dancing!

This is not only the best classical dance company in the USA but arguably one of the best in the world. The company excels at Balanchine choreography, the company founder, but also dances new works from Justin Peck and Alexei Ratmansky. The company continues to produce great dancers, making each performance an exciting opportunity to discover an artist interpreting the choreography in new and exciting ways.

New York City Ballet Remains the finest ballet company in the world. Ive had the pleasure to see many in the US and Europe. We are fortunate for those living in New York that can view this fine, creative and professional company that has been offering quality ballet, dance, including modern, traditional and new choreography as well. It is most important that readers of this post get tickets as soon as you can, lovely fall season just ended, Nutcracker and separate winter seasons start soon. A fine and wonderful company, joy to see anytime, right near the Theater District, inside Lincoln Center, and easy to find and get to from multiple Subways and nearby highway too. As a lover of ballet that I am, Jan, this is the type of quality performance that any visitor to New York should not miss!

Usually not a contrarian but have to sound out my thoughts after watching Nutcracker. It is really boring, I actually fell asleep for some parts after paying exorbitant prices... Things became slightly better after intermission where there is some ballet dance by group and solo act. The issue is that for someone who is new to this, it is not really a play, neither is it a pure ballet performance. While they try to infuse story into play but there are no dialogue and the ballet dance choreography doesnt really convey the message as well. Go watch an actual musical or an actual dance performance, it will be better.

Living in NYC, I usually look to Broadway whenever I need to transport myself to another time, another place, or to simply listen to a good story. Having spent close to 8yrs here, I recently decided it was time to look to other New York institutions for entertainment. This weekend I treated myself to a ballet matinee and found myself completely blown away by the experience. First of all, the David Koch theater, located in Lincoln Center, is stunning which is a treat in and of itself. But on top of that, I found the ballet to be so beautiful, the dancing to fluid and graceful, that I was completely mesmerized for the full 2hrs, which went by so quickly it was almost like a dream. The performance I watched was La Sylphide, and it was everything you need in a story- romance, unrequited love, witches and fairies. It was followed by a set of what seemed to be more classic dance routines which were just as beautiful. All in all, it did not disappoint and I can assure that I will be going back for more before the season is over! A tip to those not looking to break the bank, I sat in the 3rd tier and had a perfect view of the stage. So dont worry about being to high up. In fact, this may be better as it gives you a better angle.

I love NYC ballet. But it was a big disappointment this time.Shen Yun was a waste of time and money. Lincoln Center is not a right place for such low level show. I couldnt wait the end of it. Boring, cheap digital decorations, too colorful, tasteless... I have to learn my lesson : If something advertised so well, it has to be BAD.

“Top Hat and Tux Optional”Ah the ballet! The NYC Ballet based in the David H. Koch theatre has a fairly storied history and one of the most expansive repertoires around the world. You can order tickets for pickup off their website ranging from affordable to sporting event affordable ($50 - $200) but if you chance getting one at the window and qualify for discounts (e.g. curious and cultural student) they can be significantly cheaper. The line at both will call and purchase is fairly crazy so give yourself 20 minutes to get through if you are approaching curtain. The theatre is clean, simple yet GORGEOUS, comfortable, and has restroom on every floor: ladies to the left, scrubs to the right. You can dress up or dress down; there is no enforced dress code and the ushers are very approachable. Fourth ring is the highest seating area and you can see all the action without the detail. Tippy toes pounding the ground? Check! Graceful leaps into the air? Check! The extra advantage is that you can see the entire flow of the dance, a view you just can’t get in the orchestra (which leans towards the more expensive). We checked out the third ring to compare the view: the difference is eye popping! What I would recommend is that if it’s a special show they are doing, spring for third ring. If Jerry Springer or ballet are your choices that night, go for fourth ring and save the cash. Remember, no pictures inside the theatre, and be sure to clap for the dozen or so bows the hardworking dancers take.Facilities: 8/10 for easy access to restroomsPricing: 8/10 for a variety of purchase options and price pointsVisibility: 10/10 for almost no blind spotsAcoustics: 6/10 for “flat sound” on the Fourth RingHumanity: 7/10 for muscles bulging through tights and an occasional weep
