If youre familiar with off-Broadway theaters, this is more of an off-off-Broadway theater in terms of size and amenities. Its literally just the stage with three stepped rows of folding chairs and a small entrance (with an even smaller bathroom, and of course the dressing room for the cast). But dont let the spartan theater fool you, as the cast are real actors performing serious theater. The other thing Ill add is that its easy to walk past the entrance to the theater as there are no exterior signs making what it is. Look for the address above the doorway, and ring the number listed on the directory if the door is closed. Also, at least for the performance I went to see, the theater doesnt open until 15 minutes before the show.

Beautiful! I loved this theatre and working with Ken. Hes a true professional and treats your play and work as if it were his baby, too. If I could, Id go back to relive every second spent at that theatre!

This is my first time going and it was worth the trip and money. There was 5 mini plays which we voted which was the best and every one was pretty good but there was a best. I cant wait to hear who won.

The Artistic Directors treatment towards myself and a fellow actor that happens to be Deaf was appalling. We were denied basic accommodation to have an interpreter in line of site of the audience members that require ASL interpretation. We were told that it was a distraction and adding that he will not under any circumstances have the interpreter on stage during the performances. I am disgusted and will never use this venue.

Manhattan Repertory Theatre provided a very professional experience for my team. All of us performed in different capacities for our MRT production, but we are all experienced playwrights first. As venues producing original work disappear and theater becomes conflated into rehashed musicals, MRT offers a vital platform for new and independent voices to reach audiences through the art and discipline of playwriting. Ken earns high marks as a respectful, efficient Artistic Director who is passionate about fostering an environment for playwrights to implement their creative vision from page to stage. Playwrights seldom get this opportunity anywhere else, and Manhattan Repertory Theatre is a great place to try things out and take risks.

Its a quaint, whole-in-the-wall theater. Very small, but that allows for an intimate show and really feeling a part of the show.

I loved the presence and raw talent in a place that highlighted the ability of the actors rather than the use of a glitzy setting to distract from what should really be seen....

Seats are uncushioned. Theater was good and different.

Its way too small and literally the folding chairs and stools (2) make it such a claustrophobic situation. I ran out of there when the performances were over.
