I completely ignored all the recommendations that say to park at Trippet Ranch parking lot so I ended up following my Google and Apple Maps, which led me to some private driveways on Hillside Road. There was an access point but you end up parking near some houses. As of the hike, for those that can’t go during the week and get there on a Saturday, you need to get there early (before 9:30am) to beat the crowds and the heat. It is all uphill to Eagle Rock and this hike is POPULAR. Single file narrow trails during COVID is not the place for crowds. Many people were really good about wearing masks . You’ll reach a central point at the top that points to Eagle Rock. The path on the left will take you above the rock which gives you the best view. I did find there were a lot of flies on the Musch trail and at the top, so take some good bug spray to avoid being completely bothered by buzzing sounds. When you’re at the top, there is a small cave you can sit in and enjoy the view. It’s big enough for 2/3 people and it’s usually occupied. I sat in it for about 10min before letting other people enjoy it, but I highly recommend waiting for it! Snakes are definitely around so stay on the path and be aware of your surroundings. It’s a great hike and a nice workout. Enjoy
Highly recommend! Felt on top of the world sitting on top Eagle Rock. Really worth waking up with the sun for the peace and quiet. A lot of LA hikers start between 8-9am so I love getting on the trails by 6am before it even starts to get crowded
Great hiking and wonderful view
Remote, scenic, gorgeous. One of my favorite places in the Santa Monica hills
Love this place! Best time is during the weekday if you can. Or super early to get a parking space and avoid the cluster f%#! of people starting to just get there. Some trails are narrow and can become a single file line for a length of time.Lastly, also beware of the area; snakes and animals. Dont litter and if you see trash just pick it up. Mother nature will thank you!
Great hike! The view makes it worthwhile!
Good hike for all levels. Beautiful.
Pretty decent hike, cool rock, and awesome views.
Great destination for your hike. Great view. Nice place for a picnic lunch along the trail.
Nice spot to hang out. Easy to get to from the valley (top of Reseda) or Topanga (trippet ranch). Decent view. On a clear day, you can see to the ocean and on to Catalina.
Stuning place for run!!!
Beautiful place to hike and bike
On top of the world
Nice view and good trail course.
The eagle rock is not a very popular place to hike, is usually not too busy and I love it . The atmosphere is amazing and this place is usually super clean
I moutain bike in this area and enjoy climbing up to Eagle Rock, loop to Eagle Springs and back to the Hub, then back to the parking at the South end of Reseda Blvd.
Amazing to hike there.Especially the view down to Santa Monica and Palos Verdes through the gauge.Big rock with a lot of small caves for eagles.
A nice leisurely hike for the whole family, and it leads to a huge rock with caves to explore!
Beautiful views at the top made it worth the hike up. Eagle Rock is a great place to bring a picnic and enjoy the small caves along the edge of the rock.
One of the best places to hike to in Topanga..
Nice hike and great view
Great views of the San Fernando Valley. You cannot see the LA Basin from here. There is a ridge to the south that blocks it. There is a small cave at the top and sometimes a book that you can sign. Lots of people take food to eat here. Sometimes, they leave the food there, which is not good. Overall, it is worth the hike.
Beautiful view of Malibu, pretty easy hike about 2 miles up. Its all in the open so it does get hot mid day, pretty uphill the whole time. Its not my favorite hike in Malibu cause I prefer rocks and trees and getting lost in the woods, but its a simple hike to bring a friend from out of town. Dont forget to leave your story in the journals at the top!
Great view
Epic and awe inspiring.
Take enough water. parking is like $10. amazing view once you reach the top!
Fun hike to a neat spot. Good exercise as it is uphill to get there. We went up the fire road (views, in sun) and down the Musch trail (more trail-like and wooded) from/to Trippet Ranch parking lot. MapMyRun said 4.4 miles total. Cost $10 cash to park. Nice restrooms.
Beautiful views of SFV and Pacific Ocean. Perigrine Falcons, Swifts, Fox, lizards, flowers. Caves. Other visitors.
