There are times when it is too busy to walk and social distance, but during the right times, its beautiful.

The park attendants were very friendly and informative. The activities director is a little pushy but very politically appropriate. Best beach side Mai Tais i have ever had, but the frozen Margaritas were too strong. The view of the capitol building is amazing. Dont feed the ducks!

Family oriented, play ground, picnic tables, walking paths nice lake for fishing, paddle boarding, canoeing. Pet friendly as long as you have them on a leash.

I came here to walk with my daughter and we found a dead body!!! Just kidding. There are lots of things to do here... We usually walk or have a picnic. I used to live in the area and would jog around the lake a few times a week. This is a great spot to bring your kiddos to burn some energy!

Quiet, nice trails, well kept with exception of some construction. Would have given 5 stars but Ive been there multiple times with my kids and there is homeless people living at the playground.

A quick visit today, but the air was so much fresher and weather was nice! Would recommend.

If youre looking for a nice place for an evening stroll or to take in the sunset, this is one of the best in Lincoln. Its a flood prevention lake built by the Army Corps of Engineers surrounded by a city park. Theres a walking/biking loop, playgrounds, fishing and boating, baseball fields, sand volleyball, a small observatory, picnic shelters and plenty of ducks and geese to watch. Swimming is not allowed except during special events. If youre looking for a place to camp or do more aquatic activities, check out Branched Oak Lake instead. But if youre just looking for a place to exercise, relax, or just get away from life, Holmes Lake is a great choice.

This is a fantastic park for families, couples walking together, dog walkers even have deposit containers. People kayak, paddle board and fish the lake. The walking/biking path goes around the lake. Groups can reserve the shelters.

Loved this lake...fun to fishing or paddle or kayaking...but not referred to eat the fish there..

I Walk here Weekly... Have Coffee, while Parking and enjoying the Weather... Next to Pioneers Park, Holmes Lake is the Best Park to visit!... Great Trail around the Lake, but usually Lots of People around; Fishing, Exercising, Bike Riding, etc!

Just wish there was a beach I think it would work out there they could even charge to go to said beach i do enjoy the walk/run around the lake

I caught two fish a bluegill and a bass nice weather no wind perfect day for fishing happy its dinner time crash catch and I did not shop at the store bring your family and kayak

Live and active park with soft ball fiends beautiful sunset views. Plenty of parking and grills. Hiking trails and star observatory. Check out the back side of homes where you turn-into the golf course area and stay right. It is a more private area of the parks. Nice to have right in town.

Fishing great Ive caught bass bluegill walleye catfish and trout

Holmes Lake is great for its biking/walking trails. There are shelters and random tables which are great for picnics as well.

One of Lincolns finest flood plain parks, the one weve considered our neighborhood park for more than 32 years.The boys grew up fishing here on lazy summer afternoons. Never caught much but had a great time.Now that they are grown, they kayak here together.There is always something going on here, like last Sundays British Car Show ( see photos).We still enjoy a picnic here now and then.

Good easy trail for walking, running, or riding your bike, with plenty of room for everyone. The track is about 2 miles long with gentle slopes. Spots for kayaking, fishing, and bird watching. Theres a nice playground of the trail too.

Best park of Lincoln ! Beautiful lake with nice design to optimize the view as well as other activities like running, biking, fishing, BBQ). You can get the feeling of nature but not too wild nature. They also have a playground for kids. There are many parking lots around the lake so you can enter from many gates.

Whoever it was who set aside these lands for a park was a genius! Our family continues to love being at this park. The views of the lake are very stunning and its just right there in the middle of town! The addition of gravel walking/running paths a few years ago made the park even more enjoyable and you can run/ bike there from many of the excellent bike paths. Walk around the lake on a maintained path, enjoy the childrens park, watch a softball game or go fishing. Much to do and enjoy. You can watch the waterfowl and may even catch a glimpse of a fox.

Beutiful park, the only reason I didnt give it five stars is the path around it is gravel not concrete.

I go to this lake every year in the winter I love going here. Every year me and my friend come her and walk on the ice and sled down the huge hill right next to the lake I have a blast every time!

Hed around the lake with my 7 yr. Old grandson. Plenty of places to climb around on the rocks and get near the water. Grassy areas, fishing areas, walking paths and trails, a great time even during social distancing.

Holmes lake is the best lake in Lincoln

WOW, has this placed changed in the 30 years since I was last here. Certainly not what I remember but all the new walking paths & extra parking seem to make it more convenient. I kind of miss the old seclusion of it though.

Its calm and very relaxing. People can have picnics, potlucks, and parties in the summer time, and enjoy quiet walks by the lake. People can also ride their bikes and take walks on the hill.

Great place for the community. The lake is peaceful scenery and the walking trail goes all the way around. Lots of people like to bike, run, walk, or take the kids for a stroll. Others also enjoy fishing or just sitting as there seems to be plenty of bench seats. Theres also a good sized playground area for the kids and plenty of open area for groups that want to play field sports. Plenty of trees are close together for hammocks and theres a few covered picnic areas as well as some uncovered ones too. Oh and theres a baseball field.

Grew up within walking distance of this lake and love it! Fantastic bike path and playground for the kids. No swimming, but fine for fishing!

One of the most gorgeous and accessible places to visit in the city. I cant recommend going to watch a sunset here on a nice fall or summer day enough.

Our family goes here for quick fishing trips with the kids. Although, its not the best place for really good sized fish; it is really easy to catch small pan fish to get the kids into fishing. The best places to fish for larger fish are quickly filled with others fishing in those areas.

Good place to watch fire works during July 4th. Nice to do a little picnic before fire works start around sunset. Theres no display from the city but the surrounding neighborhood. You can view it 360 view if you hike up the dam. Make sure to bring bug spray. At dawn, fireflies start to come out and it was a pretty sight to see.

If you are looking for a serene place to just be, this is the place. Pray, meditate or people watch, (dog lovers ) perfect!
