A stunning example of a mound built by the Adena people. Truly amazing that this archeological wonder has survived.

Nice historical sight. Nice view of the river from the top and a plaque or two to read. Very small area, not much else to it, but it is cool to reflect on how old it is.

What a great part of history tucked in a place where you would never think to find something like that. They did a great job with plaques and it’s worth a stop to reflect on history and pay your respects.

Not really much to see. Its a mound of dirt. Interestingly, growing up this was always referred to as the Indian Mound. Only within the last ten years or so the City of Columbus put up a fancy sign declaring this to be Shrum Mound. Cant help but wonder if Shrum worked for the Parks and Recreation Department.

A beautiful example of an Ancient peoples burial mound has been preserved in this tiny park, named for a former Ohio Governor, and tucked off the side of the road. Walk up the steep and small unofficial winding path to appreciate this massive earthwork and views of the surrounding river area. Ancient peoples mounds were formerly ubiquitous in the Central Ohio area within the Scioto Watershed. It is great to see this remaining mound protected and maintained. No parking lot, but you may pull off the side of the road in a small area in front of the historical markers.

This Ancient Mound is a sacred site. Those who climb to the top of the mound may be presented with the sight of dozens of Great White Egrets nesting in a tree on an island in the quarry lake.

Shrum Mound is one of the last remaining ancient conical burial mounds in the city of Columbus, although others do exist and can be visited. The mound was constructed about 2,000 years ago by the Adena people, a native group abbot which little is known. The mound is named for the donors, the Shrum family, and the park is named for James E. Campbell, governor of Ohio from 1890 to 1892.

Shrum Mound is, well a mound of dirt. Granted it had some historical significance. If you are in the area, it is worth a stop. Parking is sparse. There is only room for about three cars at the edge of the road. The mound is considered sacred according to a sign so stay off. It is clear from other reviews and the path up the side that this is regularly ignored. Be respectful if you stop.

This large prehistoric mound is amazing and easily accessible. Its difficult to even imagine who the people were that built it or why. However it can be a fun place to get a little exercise as you climb to the top of the mound or a place to sit and reflect.

This is a lovely little piece of history (the park preserving the mound created in 1929) and a place to pay respect for those that have passed away centuries before us, tucked in a small nook right outside of Grandview. I really enjoyed my visit and will definitely go back again. Climbing up the mound isnt as difficult as Id expected it to be and only takes a minute or so. Theres somewhat of a path from where others have walked up and down it. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is a plentiful amount of avian wildlife visible from the top of the mound. Walking along the perimeter is something neat to do if you would like to extend your visit by a bit. There are many stacked, weathered stones to check out and a few trees with interesting characteristics.

Property was well maintained and kept nice. Nice piece of history detailing how little we know about native culture. In Europe they would celebrate these mounds and have museums built around them. In America we destroyed most of them and the few left are surrounded by businesses and housing developments.
