Perfect little park with PLENTY of shade for the summer. But bring your jackets when its cold. Also bring a little bug spray in the summer time, theyre not bad but they will get you on some days

I was at the dog park. Its nice. There were quite a few dogs there. They keep it up nice. People who use it are vigilant about watching their dogs and cleaning up. Good water facilities. Shovels available. Watch for large holes at the corners. Good parking. Bring mosquito spray.

Watch out for mother bears and babies! Last weekend, a fellow hiker told us to beware the trails in the woods since a mother bear had been seen acting aggressively. We walked the roads and had no problems. I hear there have been several bears spotted in Western Branch lately. One of my fave parks. For kids, it rivals Chuck E Cheese with several playgrounds. Nice big dog park too :)

We had a wonderful day at this hidden little gem of a play park. We didnt need the facilities while there, but I dont recall seeing any, or it would have been perfect. My apologies if I missed it! After all the rain recently, we were surprised there was no mud! My beautiful grand daughters had a blast!! One of my sons, his daughter, and niece were makin PRECIOUS memories!! Thank you for the well kept maintenance of this park.

Nice park, and clean! There are multiple areas for kids to play on the swings and slides. We havent seen it too crowded in the few times we have been there.

The trails are hard to find by the kids playground at the entrance. I would recommend to park at the tennis courts and take the trail which runs on either side of the road around the outer areas of the park. The bugs are terrible in the summer but the fall, spring, and winter would be fine. It is almost two miles of dirt trails with slight up and down that runs along wetland and the outer portion of the sports park.

Its not a fabulous kids focused park. Two separate playgrounds (with a nice tree shade covering)that could use a little love. A big dog park, trails, picnic shelters, tennis courts and ball fields with bleachers and stadium lights.Park is clean, plenty of parking at the separate areas. It is a nice local park to get out and get some fresh air at. Building at the end of the park has restrooms and drinking fountain where the ball fields are otherwise port-a-johns are sporadically placed throughout. I dont know how many drinking fountains there are but definitely not any by playgrounds.

Our child loves to come here. He has a lot of fun every single time we come out here. They have swings, ropes to climb, and the best part is that it is in the shade. Most of the other parks around here are in direct sunlight. This one is nice and shaded.

Great place could use an update on the soccer fields, the dog park is nice but simple, it could use a little more flavor. Theres a lot of space behind playground where nicer paths for trails could be built or possibly a small skatepark or something like that. Overall nice park with a lot of potential.

We took our beagle to this dog park and we all loved it! I loved that they have gated entrances to minimize dogs running off. There were baggies for cleaning up behind your dog, in case you forgot yours. There was even a water fountain and several bowls.

The Chesapeake Parks and Recreation Summer Program was there and the adults were blasting music, making it hard for me to keep track of/communicate with my kids amid the throng of children in the park. When I explained this to the adults running the program, they refused to turn it off and told me to talk to their supervisor.

Had a terrible experience at the dog park with my boy. He loves playing with other dogs so I was so happy to learn there was a dog park nearby. There were three other dogs and clearly it was an exclusive group. We went in and immediately my dog was not welcomed as he ended up submitting and being attacked by two of the three dogs. I felt helpless and immediately grabbed my dog and left. These owners knew their dogs acted aggressively and dominantly and told me so casually as if it was no big deal. DO NOT BRING YOUR AGRESSIVE DOGS TO A DOG PARK. This should be a friendly play date, not an opportunity to attack and keep other dogs and their owners away. I am very disappointed and will not be back to this dog park.

They have new management which focuses on racial unity unlike the way it was in the past where some people were not made to feel welcome. I applaud the City of Chesapeake for making HUGE steps towards unity and making their employees aware that EVERYONE is welcome in a city recreational center which is a place for all people in our community to take advantage of. The staff is more diverse than ever and the courts resemble the melting pot our great United States represent. Thank you and long live the rec!

Nice park with a community center, playgrounds, tennis courts, dog park, several fields (baseball, soccer, lacrosse, etc.) with lights, and a 2ish mile walking trail. I mostly use the trail and it is poorly marked in many places with winding trails in the woods. Its still nice though so hence the 4 star rating.

The only dog park in the area with a significant amount of shade. Sandy soil means its good to go an hour or two after a rain. Bring water in the winter, they turn water off to prevent freezing. Great people and dogs.
