This is a great city park to get out and do activities. I didnt walk/drive the entire park. As I entered, I went to the right of the park, so that is what my review is based onDog Park - one smaller fenced in area and a separate larger ones to really let dogs run. There are water fountains but not any structures for dogs to play/run on so I would suggest bringing a ball or toys to play with.Workout area - theres a spot that promotes physical activity. It has a non-motorized stepper, parallel bars, steps, ladders, etc ... And panels with workout suggestionsSkate park- great fenced in skate park area with a variety of ramps. I saw skateboards, bikes, and scooters enjoying it. Thought it was nice that a bench was also there in case parents/friends wanted to accompanyWalking path - circular path that looks like it may be a 1 mile loop. I didnt walk the entire thing but noticed the stickers along the wayBathrooms - the bathrooms are NOT porta-potties so that is a bonus. I didnt enter but ppl I was with did and said there were a decent number of stalls and seemed clean for a public restroomWater - for some reason I was under the impression there was a body of water at this park. The water I did see was off to the side of the dog park but not much of a feature to enjoy, I believe it may just be a runoff pondOther - there is a large stage, where I believe they have concerts. And several shelter/picnic areas that I imagine you can rent

This is a great park and has a dog park, walking trails, a train, exercise area and just a beautiful place to have outdoor activities like picnic, basketball, there is plenty of parking. Bring your family and friends, including your four legged ones.

Just a very well kept park...You will see the maintenance crew mowing, planting, picking up trash and maintaining flower beds/trees. Awesome bike/jogging/walk trail plenty of parking. Also, theres a dog park (2) and a skating area. Plenty of gazebos with tables and benches some even have a grill next to them. Baskeball courts, volleyball area and plenty of grass if you just want to bring a blanket and picnic or just sit and chill. I use to live in Va Beach and Mt Trashmore was my go to spot; but now I live here in Chesapeake and this is a quiet and peaceful little wonder.

Has one of the nicest playgrounds of any park. Shady and fenced in making you feel more secure.

Great park. Clean and well maintained. Playground equipment is in a more shaded area so it makes it nicer on really hot days. They have a special section for smaller ones to safely play as well as two other larger play areas.If you are going for exercise they have awesome basketball courts and paths for walking. If you are into skateboarding they have that as well.There is also a very special 9-11 Memorial that you can visit.

My favorite park in the area. It has so many separate play structures for different age ranges. Its in a beautiful forest and looks great at sunset. It can get crowded with kids easily because of its popularity.

We love taking Buddy, to the doggy park, the park is well taken care of and the dogs and their owners are very friendly.

This place is AWESOME!!! Loads of things to do, very clean, and fun for the whole family. Pet friendly, child friendly, senior friendly. Its really a nice place to spend the day catching up with family and friends in the great outdoors!

I love bringing my grandson and granddog. The staff has been great. It has been extremely hot out and the staff member turned the pump on so I could refresh my dog and he cooled off a great deal. Thank you.

Very nice and open park. Kids enjoyed themselves here. Is set back in the woods for some good shade. Plenty of equipment for kids to enjoy. Recommend this park to anyone.

The playground area for kids is really nice! Additionally, there is a skate park (fenced off) and a few basketball courts. Its also quite clean, you never see much trash there.

Nice park. If I lived in the area, I would go there often. Trails for walking; horeshoes area; areas picnic and BBQ; skateboard park; etc. We only explored about 1/3 of the park.

The playground area is great for kids! I take my niece and nephew there every time they come to visit. Ive been to several events here and hosted an event here, its such a nice open space and the pavilions are a good size. When you rent one you have electric and water access, super nice! They also have two dog parks, each with a small dog park and big dog park. Both are nice places to take your dogs. Theres several different sport courts and walking paths. This park pretty much has it all.

Used Dog park my pup loved it

Although several sections of the park were closed due to COVID concerns the parts that were open were beautiful. There was plenty of room to walk, benches for resting and chatting were also abundant. There was even a cute little area set up with a painted table to play checkers or chess. I dont have a dog, but the dog park looked to be a good size.

Someone recommended this park to me and I can see why. The park is very big. Very nice, large playground for all kids to play at. We were there for and hour and a half and it felt like 15 minutes. They had a basketball court and dog park. They even had a farmers that was just closing as we were pulling up. They also had places right next to the park where you could hold childrens birthday parties at. I definitely recommend this place if you have kids you will love it and so will they.

Nice large park that includes an area called Fun Forest for kids, basketball ball courts, a dog park and nice areas to walk around.

A very nice park, but today there was a large religious group with loud speakers preaching their propaganda. I go to the park for a walk NOT church services.What gives?

We had nephew birthday party there and it was amazing the kids loved it.

It was a good time, kids had a blast with the easter egg hunt, could have had more stuff for the kids to do, the lines were so long all they did was stand in lines waiting. Being it only lasted 3 hours didnt seem worth it standing in line for an hour or more for one thing.

What a beautiful park for the entire family! Great for workouts and to bring the fur babies too!

Beautiful park! Large playground for the kiddos and nice dog park. They also host many events. Went on my first date with my husband here, very fond memories!

This park is expansive, inclusive, and exhaustive. Lets keep it simple with a quick list of its features. This here park has a sand volleyball court, smooth basketball blacktops with bleachers, at least one open-air performance stage, soccer camps, niche woke festivals, a ranger station, well-kept restrooms, kite-flying wind conditions, ample (shaded!) parking, fields aplenty, and a sprawling childrens playground paradise tucked into the shady, swaying forest, accessible by walkway. Arguably the most egregiously underrated and underused of the multitudinous Tidewater city parks, this one is a delight.

It was cool. Plenty of shade and acres of grass green fields.

The basketball courts and skate park are not kid friendly. A lot of foul language and inconsiderate people.

The park is routinely closed for city park functions and requires a membership. Water is an issue in one of the parks as well. All in all, MOST people are responsible/respective and keep a decent eye on their dogs. Poop bags provided!

We had never been here before until today and we thought there was no playground! We were very surprised to find this gem! What a huge park. Plenty of shade and clean too! I love that there are bathrooms too that were clean and well maintained.

Brought the family and our pet dog here. The park itself is very nice and clean. The kids play area was pretty fun and plenty of room to run around. There’s a dog park fenced in area but you have to be a paid member to bring your dogs here. Or at least the sign at the dog park entrance said so. Great family fun place. Will come again.

My family and I go here quite a bit in the warmer months. Theres a lot of room to run, play, fly a kite, have a picnic, etc. Theres the skate park for those who are so inclined as well as the dog park with an area for bigger dogs and another for small dogs. There are well kept restrooms on premise as well as a workout area, not to mention Fun Forest. This park really has it all.

Great Outdoors playground surrounded by trees offering lots of shade. It also offers different age oriented play areas for those little ones with more confidence or for the not so little ones anymore (They will always be little to us) Opens year around from sunset to sundown and the mornings we have been there it has been clean and well kept by maintenance. You’ll see a few squirrels and if lucky a deer or two on the other side of the fence.

Ive grown up here. Over the years they have really fixed this place up. Absolutely gorgeous now. Also makes the chesapeake jubilee a little better! Proud to live here in Chesapeake.

One of my favorites! Lots of great places for kids and adults to be. They always have activities and festivals and Wednesday and Saturday they have a farmers market! Very pet friendly with 2 dog parks and a skate park as well!

Went to a wine festival for the first time last month and had a ball. The grounds were well kept. The festival was well organized and the music was outstanding. Just wish they had more food options but outside of this we had a great time. Will be back next year!!

My 3 year old loves going to the kids playground here, there’s so much to do. I wish my dog wasn’t afraid of other dogs because there are two dog parks here that have separate small dog and big dog areas.

Park is super clean and very nice to walk around. Have been to the dog park in the front of the park plenty of times but never went to the other parts of the park. Walking around proved to be a delight!! Park was clean and so many places for different activities.

The kids can have a blast at the huge park here! They have pavilions, basketball courts, and all kinds of room for everyone to spread out.

Love the wide open space. Could use better marked trails. I was hoping for a good spot to run. Great for a picnic. I love the dog park and the skate park and clean restrooms.

We love coming to the park. Its a great place to work out, have the kids play at Fun Forrest or have a family barbecue. We often come on Sunday afternoons and have a picnic. The park is well kept and the bathrooms are always clean. Definitely a good family place.

The playground is wonderful and lots of fun things to do. My girls and my husband and I had a great time.we cant wait for the weather to get warmer so we can go back.

Awesome dogs park!

Great place to take the kiddos, or have a big get together. Plenty of space to explore, huge pavilions for cooking out. Heat has not been a real issue, the entire park is shaded by the beautiful trees. They have 3 main play structures, with several smaller interactions. A Field, sandbox, rock to climb, and photo opportunities on a great white, whale tail, and turtle. There are bathrooms and water fountains on site as well. We absolutely love it there.

I only experienced the side of the park with the woods. Lots of picnic tables, a playground, and very dog friendly. Very clean, friendly people, lots of different areas.

Large, beautiful, well kept park. Handicap accessible. We came here for the Wine Festival. Large grassy areas (some used for parking this particular time), paved walkways, restrooms facilities. A wonderful public facility for any occasion.

Love it we take our dogs there every now & again! It is very close to home, and is a good alternative if you dont have a fenced backyard!

Great set up and play area lots of fun

Weve been coming to this park for years and love it. Let me clarify, we typically go to the playground when we visit... Fun Forest. I have 3 boys.. 9, 7, and 3 (and a baby girl) and its always fun for them every time we go. There are actually 3 individual playground areas they bounce around in so they rarely get bored. Plenty of swings too. Most of the time we play hide and seek since there are plenty of places to hide.What I like most about this park is that it is heavily shaded and its completely fenced in on all sides so theres only one way in and one way out. This feature allows me to let my older 2 roam a bit without worrying to much about open borders. Between this and oak Grove Park, theyre both our go to playgrounds in a pinch. Hope you find this park as enjoyable as we do!

Peaceful place to walk

Fun Forest is the best playground around! Makes you wish you where a kid again. One of the nice things about it is that there is a tall fence around the whole place with only one entrance/exit. There are three different sections of playground so there is tons to do.

Nice park. Great space for just about anything. Parking is limited. Bathroom (women) needs more interval cleaning throughout the day. The Shelters and trash cans need more attention during and before the rental time slot.
