Was great until my family pulled and caught a teen couple getting it on in the parking lot. Apparently its a make out point. Other then that its a great fishing spot and my 8yrold loved the play park.

Great place to relax and enjoy nature. Was able to see the locks open to allow passing boats to continue navigating the canal. Saw a bald eagle flying by and tons of geese. Great park.

Fun for kids. Different than most parks due to the lookouts

Small park just inside deep creek. A decent amount of markers and things about the history. It also has a playground for kids, an exercise course, fishing pier, picnic area, and look out towers. All in all a decent little park. It does lack in parking and the road in involves a one lane bridge and very skinny road

Went here to go fishing, not horrible but the dock pylons are too tall, making it hard as hell to cast from the dock. Only have one porta-potty for a bathroom too.

Great little park for the kids to play at. Plenty of places to toss a line and fish. There is a calisthenics park next to parking for working out. Parking is limited but not a bad thing because not too many people come to the park.

Nice quiet area! Some of the brush could be cut but some of the lack as it relates to the attention to detail could be attributed to the current pandemic causing the city to focus on other things

Sports fields, a wonderful walking/fitness trail, a shady picnic area, a playground for kids AND a terrific dog park! The city requires a dog park tag which can be purchased at any rec center (see city website for rules). This park is located in a rural area with farm fields behind it and woods alongside and is well worth the trip. Just dont come after a heavy rain, the trails do get very wet and so does the dog park! I frequent a lot of city parks and this one is worth the trip, wherever you live.

Review №17

Love this park, found it a few years ago from word of mouth and I liked it because of the size of the dog park. Now they have cut the dog park down by approximately 10 ft. to put a park beside it which is still more than enough room for dogs to run around. I can even throw my chuck it and have her run after it so its a pretty decent size.

Beautiful grassy shady picnic area. Borders Canal Locks, you can watch. Several covered concrete picnic shelters for 50 person gathering. Children play equipment. No permanent restrooms but portables. Some great views of nature along waterways. Historically 1700 1800 circa graves, monuments. Not to be confused with Deep Creek Park (+100) 2 miles South along same Canal, same business rte 17.

Surprisingly big park surrounded by trees and water. We enjoyed the walk down to the tip of the park and sitting by the water. There are three big covered picnic areas, two big play grounds, big fields, raised platforms to look around by the water, a long dock with lots of cleats, and a water level dock. Seems well kept.

Its one of the best spots around to go crabbing, but it is usually pretty crowded at the holidays and weekends. There is alot of boat traffic so I think fisherman would have better luck at one of the piers around Hampton roads. The playground is not visible from the fishing area.

Nice little park. A couple of short trails great for little ones. Not jogger friendly but does have very nice workout station. They have a nice playground, park benches, and picnic tables. Also nice bird watching decks. There is a place for docking your boats if you are coming from the water. Only porter potties for bathrooms. It was very clean and had easily accessible garbage bins.

This is one of the coolest things ive ever seen. The guy workimg there took me and my co worker on the grand tour of the place. He showed us how everthing worked. We even got to see a boat go thru. Best park in deep creek area for the kids. They have alot of new upgrades going on. I have been going there for years and it look the best now than it ever has. Awsome park. Lots of parking. No fishing from the dock. There is an eagle that lives near there as well.

As far as Facilities are concerned, its a bit sparse if youre talking about restrooms. Theres no vending machines, but thats not why I go to parks.... I love this park, but the City of Chesapeake really, really, needs to reconsider their policy on cutting back inspect spraying for some of their parks. Especially this one since its right on the water. Once Spring/Summer is in full swing, its almost unbearable, even with bug spray on. I will say that biting bugs are extremely into me, so your results may vary. I love the scenic overlooks at this park, and the fact you can cross two different bridges and check out hidden gem parts of the park.
