I use both the equestrian area and the other side for the play ground for kiddos and walking on the trails. I really like the options of an arena, round pen and trails for the horses. Provide my own maintenance if needed and relaxing trails. My kids love the playground and walking to the lake inlet. When older, can use the canoes or even fish the shoreline. Nice place to have a birthday or picnic

The City of Chesapeake does a good job keeping their parks in good condition and this park is no exception. It is a very large park that has walking, booking and horses riding trails. It is heavily wooded and very scenic. You can rent kayaks, canoes, and paddle boats. They also have a large feels for leisure sports with a few pavilions. Please take note though that this is a natural area that is semi-swampy so from the middle of May through September but spray is highly recommended.

Nothing I dont love about this park. Wonderful trails, camping, canoeing, playground, horse trails, clean, friendly staff, wildlife, great mushroom variety for identifying, and so much more. Its great all year round, but if its a rainy day be sure to bring boots because some trails get pretty muddy and water filled. Still a blast though.

This park has been a family favorite for 40+ years. Its got hike trails, boat rentals, fishing (throwback), camping (cabins, RV, tents), a garden and mini golf. Its a popular site for local scout troops an locals who go camping. Usually hosts a variety of events such as Paddle To The Border and Haunted Hayrides. The staff are always good to see around and are familiar with regular visitors. Great location for all ages, clean, quiet, nature preserve, and beautiful.

Great park. Heavily shaded. They have maps at the base station to take along. Theyve always let us know if there are any obstructions on the trails. Weve only been a few times (I have a family of 6, 3 boys one baby girl) and love this park every time weve been. Wish we would go more. There are paddle boats and canoes they rent by the hour. They also have horse trails if thats something you want to do. Wide paths make for easy hikes. Longest trail is 2.5 miles(Indian creek). You could spend an hour here or 2, 3, or 4 depending on how many trails you hiked. Some of the trails open up to water which is nice. They have benches scattered throughout the park. We hope you enjoy this park as much as we do. Happy trails!

Labor Day 2018: Another beautiful, peaceful afternoon canoeing on the moss covered water. At the end, it was like gliding through a moss covered waterway with only the sound of leaves falling, dragon flies buzzing, and the distant sound of paddleboats that cant traverse the fallen trees lining the edges.End.Relaxing place.
