I really enjoyed the choice of fresh water and salt water fishing ...the landscape is beautiful ...the people are friendly the picnic area is a must try... The boat dock is very user friendly as well as a great location for beginner kayaking... There is plenty of parking in different locations throughout the park... There are playgrounds for the kids to enjoy themselves and run themselves ragged... This park is excellent for walking your fur babies... If youre ever in the area stop in and take a look at the beautiful scenery you will not be disappointed...

Great place to spending day during this COVID pandemic, scenery great you love fishing this place for you. We do kayak here is awesome great kayak launch and as well for boat ramp is great. Great for picnic gazebo and picnic tables available. Very shady around the picnic area with waterfront view absolutely great day to spend. A lot space for parking car or trailer

We love this park. A little gem right in town. Often, especially since Covid, we just grab some fast food and sit in the car and watch birds, boats and people fishing abd crabbing. Youll find many families here with young kids, but also seniors like us. Plenty of picnic tables, grills and a few covered Pavillions. Most people are friendly and it feels like community. Its 5 minutes from most spots in Great Bridge, so really convenient.

First of all, this place, this place is historic. It offers breathtaking sunsets, a different one every evening! This is a great great place because it has different amenities! Very peaceful, serene, lots of trees makes a healthy spot. A great place for meditation. A local spot for fishing, with a kayak and boat ramp. It also has a few pavillons for group picnics. If you love nearby, you should visit at least once.

I made a great discovery of this pristine little park on the banks of the Great Bridge Locks, Chesapeake, VA. I read, listen to music, and enjoy watching barges being slowly and gently nudged down the waterway through the locks, sailboats underway with their masts touching the blue skys, floating like a dream down the watercourse to destinations unknown. Motorboats of all sizes rumble at ”slow speed” in this no-wake zone, passing by fishermen with their lines in the water, famikies picnicking, playing and having fun! Its my favorite ”me” place in Cheapeake! I love it here!! You will, too!! ️ LRW

I am glad to see this park being better maintained then it used to be. The life preserver rings next to the canal need to be maintenanced though. If you see a young racoon durring the day dont worry it is not rabid it is just used to people and knows when the freshest food hits the cans. But do not try to approach it, it is still a wild animal. Also STOP FEEDING THE GEESE!!!!

Been going here since I was a child. Spent the day on a blanket with my 12 year old. We read, napped, cooked out and felt safe doing it all.The water fountains dont work and the public restrooms are closed (there is a porto-potty) That sucked!!Sad to put all that money into the area across the street and let a GB stable like Locks Par fall apart. Shame.

Theres something about being near the water that is relaxing. Peaceful. Restorative. And so when I noticed the Great Bridge Lock Park, I headed here to get some peace. The park has benches and shade and a great view of the water. This isnt the Atlantic - thats a good ways from here. Its the canal and some lakes with a boat launch which was being used by a bunch of dudes with jetskis today. Still, a nice spot for a picnic as they have some pavilions and some cookout spots and some folks are even fishing.

Its a great place to go fishing, or if you just feel like relaxing. If youve never seen it, it is very interesting to watch watching the boats pass through the locks and see how it operates. There are also many events held at this park though out the year. This park is open from dusk to dawn year around. It is a good place for young children to play under supervision and for adults to just sit and relax while watching boats maneuver the waterway. It is also experiencing some improvements at this time.

We explored this small park this summer when we first moved here. It was a lot smaller than I expected, but was well kept, had picnic tables, trash cans, a nice landscaped path, and detailed historical signs if youre a history buff. There was a dock with boats parked, but the water side had no railing, so small children would really need watched here. Its a great spot if you happen to be there when a boat

Playground at the back of the park that has a set of swings for toddlers and a set for older kids. Play equipment in the middle with a smaller set for toddlers and one for the bigger kids. Has small soft animal statues that kids can climb on. (Not the cleanest location - reason for 4 stars) Public restrooms available. Also has water where you can fish. Bring your own chairs for fishing. A few stone picnic tables available, spread throughout.

There is nothing not to like about this park. Its family, animal, boat, fishing, grilling, corn holing, biking, walking, running, hand-holding and nostalgia-friendly. Morning, afternoon or evening are the best times to come--yes, thats any time! Launch your boat, have a picnic, toss a line in the water or just simply relax and enjoy the magnificent scenery.

Great place to kayak for beginners. The back of the park has a handicap accessible boat ramp to use to put your kayak in the water. This area of the Elizabeth River is a no wake zone, so even though you may be paddling next to large boats it is still relatively calm water. There are many different birds to view flying over head and in the tall Marsh grass.

This park was not up to par at all I wont be returning. The picnic tables had dead bugs and feces on them, the slides as well he couldnt even go down the slide cause of the dead bug carcasses. Also, I brought food for me and my son to eat, and the squirrels liked hawked us, and when i took him to go play the ate thru one of my food boxes, knocked our drinks on the ground, and steadily stared at us getting real close, and there were 2 bugging us, but several around. This park used to be nice and kept up, but it doesnt look taking care of at all in a long time it looks like. Nasty, and dirty not for children, i gave a one cause he did use the swings but they had looked a little dirty too. Thank you for your time, please clean this park up i use to go here when i was little all the time and im 37 now!!

I just gave it 3stars and really thought about giving it a 2star because the bathroom. But its a nice little park with a nice view.To improve it could use some more shade to keep the play gym equipment cool. Everything was super hot to the touch. And the bathroom omg it was horrible. Id of rather my kid tinkle outside than in that bathroom, the floor looked like feces smeared all on the floor either it was that or rust i didnt look close enough to make the difference. The city park on Greenbrier definitely is a better park and restroom. Drive 5minutes down the way and go there instead, youre welcome.
