Highway robbery, no attempt was made to contact me about a toll I didn’t even know about. I don’t even know where this bridge is. Now they’re trying to charge me $105.45 for ONE TOLL. I hope they all burn in hell.Fun fact, if a business has to tell people they are “ethical and honest” that business is neither.

The company running the toll charges has given reason for complained to many drivers in this area, which I know from all the Lyft and Uber groups that I am part of.Their invoices are not created regularly. Sometimes they invoice a toll quick sometimes it takes a while and sometimes you dont get an invoice at all.I called customer support mid October and made a payment for all open tolls, some of which were not invoiced yet. I get my bill for this month and now there os an open toll + $25 admin fee for an open toll from Oct 8th. If I had gotten an invoice, I most certainly would have paid it. This area has many bridges, bit its only this one that is a nightmare when it comes to the billing and I really think that this should be reviewed by our Cities!

As you can see from my profile picture you really can get some great shots from the bridge. I enjoy walking across from Portsmouth to Chesapeake and then walking around the park. What is really unfortunate and unacceptable is the parking area in Portsmouth is like driving through a rock quarry, rocks and potholes everywhere, not a paved lot with dedicated parking spaces. And if it has been raining you can’t get to the bridge at all (unless you walk through disgusting water or walk around the water into the street and hope and pray you make it before the next car or 18 wheeler comes barreling around the corner)because the sidewalk is flooded.

SNJB, it is unfortunate that you failed to read my previous review properly and thoroughly. You merely repeated everything I had already listed as your past excuses. Additionally, you maintain the settlement offer is still valid should I choose to accept it, which I will have to (as Im sure you well know, and as Im sure many other customers must also unfortunately do, merely to put an end to the seemingly near-universal awful experience it is to attempt to communicate with SNJB). I am willing to pay the $80 to close this issue - however, I clearly said in my last review that I had attempted twice to contact SNJB to settle the account and received no response for the last month. It is very telling of how this company is run that my e-mails to customer service went ignored and unanswered and yet a public review on Google gets an almost instant response.Kindly inform me where I can go to settle this account, please.

There is parking available all around the bridge area. I park then walk up a ramp. I remember when I first saw this bridge, I would call it the hot wheels bridge because it really looks like something out of a hot wheels set. Yes, to actually use it you have to pay a toll, which sucks but hey. The EZ pass can help with that. I wouldnt suggest going on it if it was icy.

I traveled over this bridge in 2017 and only recently received a notice from collections that I owed over $100 in unpaid fees. SNJB claims they sent me previous invoices and provided electronic copies, but it strikes me as unlikely that this is truthful as many other people have complained about being unaware of toll fees until receiving a notice from collections (SNJB reiterates over and over to me and to other customers that they received no mail back as undeliverable, which they claim frees them from responsibility for not correctly contacting people about the fees that they owe). I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, but SNJB refused to waive the extra fees they had piled on, apart from their one offer of compromise of bringing the fees owed down to $80 instead of the original $5 toll fee. I then provided signed proof from a USPS postmaster stating it would have been impossible for me to receive invoices from SNJB given that they admitted to sending them to the incorrect address (my physical instead of mailing - their excuse was they only have DMV information to go by, but this is unacceptable as I provided the DMV my correct physical address as this is all they require). After BBB closed the matter without resolution, I have now attempted to contact South Norfolk Jordan Bridge more than once since January 14th of this year via e-mail to their Customer Care Center & Billing Inquiries address to settle my account and still have received no response. This process has been extremely frustrating, and I want this matter settled.

The bridge is high and presents you spectacular views as far as town center in VB! The sunset is a nice sight as well but dont ask me about a sunrise because thats early. I have parked on both sides. Portsmouth side is free for me because I dont need to make the trip over the bridge. This area is a dirt area filled with large potholes. You can find a sidewalk to lead you to the bridge. The Chesapeake side (after I pay the toll) has a larger parking area, a park with exercise equipment, picnic area, dock and other amenities available.

Like some made a wrong turn. Never received an invoice in the mail and now cannot renew registration at the DMV. However the 1-star review is for the fact that I am trying to pay just to get it over with, and it has been an unnecessary hassle. One would think that if a company truly was concerned about receiving payment the phone lines would be staffed and answered. My current 2 hour hold time shows difference in that. This company serves no purpose.Edit: Do not take this bridge! Whatever time you feel you are saving, will only be replaced by bs and stress created by this company.

I am writing a review since I know the SNJB review reps watching like clockwork. I must say the phone reps are nice when ones voice is no longer an indoor voice, but when I called SNJB the first time I was told about 105.10 owed to MRS (collections agency that you can transfer to within their system but both verified it). I did a repeat back and acknowledgement of said amount and asked was that all I owed this tolling company. Of course it was a yes. Thats 2 tolls that had resulted on a hold on my dmv registration. I was clear in asking was that ALL TWICE and wrote everything down as we spoke on the phone. Fast forward 1 month and some days to when I called back to pay it, MRS informed me of a figure over $1000 (11 old as hell tolls). Immediately, I called back to SNJB and spoke with PAM (collections) saying the same thing. How confused to go back and call again to talk to SNJB (vs MRS or PAM the same phone number mind you). This is where the anger comes in. The first time I called them, the SNJB rep neglected to tell me about the PAM collections bill and neither did MRS on the first call (which MRS could conveniently see on my second call to them...hmmm). I pay it because there is no time to dispute someone driving my car through toll roads while I was away years ago so I gotta sue them or just look away. And there are no settlement offers for these loan shark type of fees.To the people that want to write a response after everybodys post like it is going to change things....its insulting... for you have no sympathy in your tone at all. Combing through their mess and putting it in a response of their review of you for all to see regardless of what they wrote...come on. With the amount of money paid in tolls with fees...nobody wants to hear back from you ever and the bad reviews are gonna tip the scale; afterall, this is not a restaurant review. There is no level playing field here for there are no settlement offers on some of the fees. Simply say...please call or or email us is all you should say to defend privately. Trust half of us aint calling you back. We are going to have to pay it regardless if we want to drive legally. Dont look into my account because I fine tooth combed multiple years with your rep last week with a repeat and acknowledgement. Thank you Delvita and friends!!! BTW I already have an ezpass. I am here to review your organization without you responding to me period. Just hush already.

This place is a joke. You cant get a straight answer on what you owe. I see in other reviews they answer back saying it takes 90 days to get a DMV hold well then why are they saying a trip on April 9th 2019 is why I have a DMV hold, and its only May 29th 2019. I just wish they could give a straight answer. And why does it cost 105.10 for one trip across a bridge and its barley 40 days later. Also they never sent me a bill. I think they do this on purpose to get the extra money. I also have a EZ pass linked to my license plate that money is automatically put on once a month so I shouldnt be getting a bill anyways. I totally dont understand this. They have so many negative reviews and dont try to fix any situation.Brian

When I realized I was no longer getting charged and contacted them they informed me I owed them 33 charges at PayByPlate rate and began charging me administrative late fees while I contested the charges. The whole east coast toll system is corrupt and makes people pay just to get to work then randomly screws them over more. Toll brigdes and tunnels should be banned.

I have never in my life experienced such terrible and unhelpful customer service! I crossed this bridge one time and they sent me to collections with a $160 fine. Not once did they send me any notices or try and contact me. What kind of organization does that to people? I called multiple times trying to get answers and multiple times my calls were dropped. When I finally got through to someone, I followed their instructions exactly on how to file an appeal. They denied my appeal and said I had to pay to money. I don’t understand how they can expect me to pay for thier mistske! This is outrageous, they obviously are just looking for a way to finance their next bridge. But I am disappointed that this is the type of treatment and customer service that my tax dollars pay for. I will be sure to never go near this bridge again.

This Bridge is Great, i dont know why the others are complaining, it says TOLL Bridge Before you even get on and the rates, its a wonderful bridge that is the perfect way to get into Virginia Beach during rush hour traffic, it is also by far one of the most well taken care of bridges in the area (looks over at the high rise on 64). This bridge is although cramp very fast and easy moving and is a great connector from the 164 to the I-464 N,S its also a faster way to get to the I-64 and the I-264. although i do believe that the toll shouldnt be permanent, other than that great bridge.

One thing the people must understand, the toll is here to stay. Lets put pressure on wage increases instead of condeming private companies who invested in creating a safer and better way to cross the river and figured out how to get paid from it. I have young children who enjoy the play ares, two dogs who enjoy the enclosures and my wife and I enjoy the excercise equipment. 12 years ago, there used to be a porta john as a bathroom, now its a real bathroom there, granted it can get dirty especially around major cookout events, but its a public park. I had the same experience as many other people who commented here. I was driving towards the Norfolk and had to follow a detour due to some construction. Never saw any signs that this was a toll bridge. My wife was in the car next to me, and she didnt see any signs either. And of course, a month later I receive a bill in the mail for $4.25.So I thought OK, I would pay my bill online and this would be the end of the story. Wrong! When I try to fill out an online payment form on their web site, theres this field:The following (pro-rated) account plan charges will be applied to your available toll balance upon successful payment. They want you to enter at least $0.25 in that field. What for??? Am I now paying for the maintenance of my account with them? Have I just established a financial relationship with the bridge??? Franz Kafka would have been hard pressed to imagine this kind of an idiocy! This bridge is a total ripoff! Stay away from it. This is the last time they see me or my money.Feb 12, 2015 update: this is to comment on the bridge owners response.1. You claim that adequate toll signs are posted. Look, dozens of people tell you here that this is not the case, but you keep insisting. You keep telling us that we are a bunch of morons and cant see obvious signs. Did it ever cross your mind that maybe there is some truth to what people are telling you? Maybe those signs arent that obvious after all?2. I have no idea what other invoices are out there in my name. I know I crossed that bridge once, and only once. So the question remains: what was that extra charge for?3. Yes, I spoke to your customer service on the phone. Totally useless; no help at all. Thanks, and enjoy your bridge!

. Very unhappy with the toll service. I am not from VA and do not have an EZ Pass. I live in NC and was in VA taking my son to meet family for a trip and was not familiar how to get back home. I used Google Maps and followed the directions. I did not have an option to turn around or do anything once on the toll, besides go straight through. There was not a person to pay and the only other option was to be mailed an invoice. I did not receive the first invoice. I received an invoice today for $29.75! I tried to quickly pay online and the website would not accept my payment using a credit card or my checking account. I was not happy and called the phone number listed. After being treated terrible by the first agent, she took my payment for $4.75 and politely explained that my new balance was $25.00 due to this late fee, as though it were comical. I then asked for her Manager and they acted as though there was nothing they could do, and then finally waived the fee. I am not sure I believe this is over. This is pathetic Virginia!

There is no reason for there to be three ways to take a toll across the Elizabeth River and only two that are free (we still have to pay taxes for both of them anyway, these are not privately owned). I cant wait to move across the country and never have to deal with this crooked system again. Good luck getting a notification of a toll in a timely fashion, and no toll should be due on a weekend when you are closed, thats just bad customer service and reeks of a scam to make more money than youre actually due. Not everyone can get an ez pass, though thankfully I have now, and if people have to pay you to cross your bridge to save themselves having to drive literally an hour out of their way, you should have at least ONE toll booth with an actual person. I just moved to VA Beach a couple of months ago. I have never had the need for an EZ pass and always pay toll roads in cash. This bridge however does a plate check or EZ Pass, since I have out of state plates, I called them. I called the day it happened and said I understand I owe them a toll and would like to pay it. I was told I need to call back in a month so they could contact the DMV in the state where my plates were issued and send me a statement. I called back after a month since I obviously no longer live in that state to once again pay the toll. I was told today that while they see that my plates were in fact captured on the bridge, they were still waiting on reply by the DMV. WHY?!?! Im on the phone with them, I can easily give them my name, address, phone number, drivers license number, anything they want. They told me to call back in two weeks. Are you kidding me??? I called the day it happened, I called a month later to follow up, and I have to call you back to pay you $5.00?? Please! I dont think so. I believe I have done my duty. Here is an update: After my review and the friendly reply, I was able to go and pay my toll. Found out there was a clerical error and my plates were sent to the wrong state. But not all is lost, they were prompt about getting my business taken care of after my review.

Fast forward 3 years and I have a bill for $108 for 2 trips across the bridge. Dont get me wrong, its a nice bridge, but the way that they go about doing business is just wrong.

I was in the area briefly about a year ago for military training and I didnt realize Id crossed a toll bridge. I start getting phone calls about 6 months later asking for $80, which I assumed was a scam. Turns out they did send me something in the mail but I never got it, because it went to the wrong address. Found out today that they were responsible for suspending my registration, again without my knowledge, so the $100 or so that I had already paid the DMV to unsuspend my registration was apparently a wasted expense. Pretty sure I could have rented a boat and sailed myself and my car across the river for less than $180.

Detour due to 464 construction, then a truck wrecks in front of us. Norfolk police and the state trooper direct us to go across the bridge. Guess what we get a ticket and now the horrific phone tree of trying to get customer service to remedy this has reared its UGLY head. I am giving it 1 star as I have finally been able to contact ( leave a voice meassage) to a customer care specialist. If/when this is resolved I will update the review.

I really wish you did not have to give this bridge even 1 star. I will never ever use this bridge again. They sent bills to a previous address and even admitted that the bills were sent to an incorrect address and still charged me $540.00 for 6 citations. Although I was not even the one to use this bridge I will see to it that my vehicle and any vehicle that I occupy never ever again uses this bridge. Totally disgusted

Crossed bridge on 11/27/12 @ 10:12pm . Bridge itself is fine..no issue there. My issue is that were not not made aware that this one time crossing was going to cost me $4, and since the other bridge/road was closed, and my GPS sent me to the SNJB. I wondered why such a nice bridge had NO ONE ELSE ON IT. Now I understand why...if it would cost $4 for every use, I wouldnt have used it either. Then on Jan 18, 2013 I get an invoice in the mail for $4.00 for the honor of having used this bridge. Neat concept really, close the only other means to cross, then take a photo of your tag at the other side & mail you a bill. No signs saying toll, just a mailed invoice weeks later. Legal theft in my opinion.

This is the worst company. No accountability. They treat customers like trash. I would rather drive an extra 50 miles than cross the South Norfolk Jordan Bridge again. If you are new to the area and you cross the South Norfolk Jordan Bridge, just be ready to receive a call from collections year later. Elizabeth River Tunnels will at least get you the bill you owe.

In 2016 I received an invoice of close to $1200, the Toll roads were new to the Hampton Roads area so we did not fully understand how things worked, so my spouse and i paid it and purchased an Epass. We even asked the representative if there was anything else outstanding so we could cover it, she said you guys are fine, just get an ezpass to avoid future fees so we did just that. Here it is 2017 and we are being told we old a bill of $276.60 tolls from 2014 and 2015! How is that possible when we made a payment in 2016 to covers our tolls! No one seem to have the answer for us. and we only learned of this bill because i called the city of Norfolk to pay my property tax and was inform that i had a toll hold on my licensed and that could affect me renewing my plate and they provided me the contact information to resolve the issue. SO I call South Norfolk Jorden Bridge and they claimed they sent me an invoice that i never received! How is that possible my address has always been update with DMV and the city of Norfolk for Tax purposes. i know this was done on purpose because companies like these profit more from fee then someone paying on time! Second how is it that i made a payment in 2016 and still owe on a bill from 2014 and 2015. Nobody knows what they are doing at this company and its a shame that the state of Virginia has join forces with them to gain a $50 profit as though all the payment we make in taxes is not enough. Out of my $276.60 bill my original toll equals to $20.25, so the state of Virginia will pocket $50 and this toll company will pocket $206.35. How is this legal. How can the better Business Bureau let this company and others like it get away with robbing us! Unbelievable. please revolve this issue and i would like a company of the original invoice company that was supposedly mail to me and how is it not i have not received any collection notices?

I went through this toll when all the major detours in the area forced me on it, and I saw no indication that it was a toll bridge. I was new to the area and trying to find my hotel at 4 am. They said they sent notice to my apartment, which I never got, before sending it to the collection agency. Now I owe $104 for a $4 toll! If you can avoid this bridge please do, because they will scam you out of your money!

If I could give zero start I would. basically my ex was in the yards and would take my car sometimes, I told him the use his EZ pass, clearly he did not. Not the bridges fault, just the back story. Deployed last year and came back to this now past due bill and my registration cant be renewed in June, upset, but fine, ill pay it as we were no longer together nor on good terms. I was told $133 for the SJNB, paid it on the 23rd of June 2017, a Friday, they processed it on the 26th 2017, a Monday. I was told 7-10 days to take the hold off of my registration. Called back on the 5th and was told give it the 10th day. Called today, July 10th 2017...suddenly I owe another $103!! Oh, they ran the plate and found it...when!? I just called on the 5th and no mention was made about this money! Of course its past due and it will be another 7-10 days before I can get my registration off hold and they dont even pretend to care, I even spoke to a manager, which was pointless. How is a private company able to put a hold on your registration and how is it that they can make a mistake like that?! Thank God I called...

Every place Ive lived in the United States that has toll roads or bridges. Has either booths or locations ON THE ROAD where you can pay. However, this part of Virginia is much different they have secret electronic monitoring systems and they are all owned by different people. So if youre from out of town like me youll get a random letter in the mail saying you owe $4 dollars. If you happen to be out of town and miss this mailed letter or if it simply never makes it you get a 50 dollar fee. They say the reason for secret monitoring system is to make it convenient for drivers by keeping roads clear....So this modern innovation uses an electronic monitoring system but relies on a paper-only billing system. In the end this companys practices are predatory. It sucks for their employees because they essentially have to be thieves to work there.

This company is a total rip off!! How can you add all these fees to an account. I did forget to update my credit card information however the issue is the fees. How can you go from owing 4.oo to owing $300.00. I dont travel over the Jordan bridge alot, so for 2 fees 8.00 I owe 300.00. Im a single parent. That is more then my car note. Im asking for a fee waiver??? Ive lived here all my life

This has got to be the most idiotic tolling system ever.My boyfriend and I went over this bridge back in January and didnt notice that this was the toll that the signs were talking about since we werent familiar with the area. We only noticed that it was a toll after the flash went off due to the camera taking a picture of our license plate. After we saw the flash there was nothing, no booth, no place to throw change in so we were confused. Immediately we looked up where we were and where the toll was (we didnt care that there was a toll) and after about a half hour of searching we finally found the site for the toll...Unless you have an Ezpass you have to wait 30 days to receive your toll ticket. We were driving my boyfriends car and he is in the military so immediately we tried calling and emailing to find out how that was going to work since he doesnt live at the same place thats listed in the DMV. It was a weekend so obviously there was no answer because theyre closed so we tried emailing so at least they knew what our situation was. The email that was given on the site (we directly copied and pasted and made sure there was no random spacing) came back as invalid. For the rest of that week we tried to contact them but neither of us got out of work in time for business hours to call... so we waited...The mailing address listed under the DMV for his car is still his parents address. Finally, 2 MONTHS later 3/24/2017 we just got the toll ticket. According to the ticket we have less than a week to pay 5$ (no big deal since we did a lot of digging into how to pay for this once we get it and found out that we could pay for it online). For those who dont know they went through a toll or how to pay for this other than via mail they are screwed. How do you expect anyone in military to pay this toll if they get deployed, have training or something else that prevents them from any communication, internet access or access to even receiving mail right away because they wont be home for at least a week? If it took a month for anyone to even notice that someone went through this toll and another month to even mail something how do you expect people to pay something on time if they didnt even receive the ticket in the mail until after the due date?

Just wanted to point out that the images referred to by the owner, of the ample signage up to three miles away from the bridge, are blatantly obvious to be at the foot of the bridge (point of no return). I didnt see any images of a sign that would provide enough warning for someone to avoid the toll.

I went Chesapeake, Va. for a funeral and got lost. the next thing I know I was on this toll bridge. I think the signage is deceptive and signage is placed strategically so that you are unable to react in time to avoid it. Way to go City of Chesapeake. I would hope everyone lookout and avoid this bridge at all cost to say your hard earned dollars. Which iam sure you have already paid for this bridge anyway.....

Really high and really expensive! There is no warning about a toll or the cost and there is no booth! The only way to pay is with an EZ-Pass, If you dont have an EZ-Pass the only way to pay is to contact the website or wait a month and get an overdue invoice in the mail! Not cool.
