Omg I love this park. Love the lake and the trails. It is one of my faves parks to go to in Charlotee. I just moved here from the A. So it kind of reminds me of Piedmont park area in a way. People bring their hammocks tie them on the trees and just chill, listen to music, read etc. I love it. Hope this helps.

If youre tired from strolling around, the park has shade and sun garden beds with wide grass paths where you can rest and relax. You’ll also find countless walking trails and 5 outdoor picnic spots with grills. This park showcases free films and musical performances in the park pavilion during the summer season. Meanwhile, every September, the Freedom park hosts a five-day-long festival!

This is our favorite park. Everything is so green and bright in the warmer months and beautiful autumn colors in the fall. Tons and tons of room for kids to run with fields and two playgrounds including a Panthers obstacle course type area. The pond and fountain are beautiful and its so fun to set up a picnic on the hill looking out onto the pond. Its usually super busy here, especially on weekends. But I actually dont mind. Its so nice to see so many families outside walking, running, biking, having picnics, throwing frisbees, etc.

Very beautiful park. You can go there just for a walk to enjoy nature, or also you can do jogging or ride a bike. You can also rent a bike in the park, you dont need to have one. The park has a beautiful lake with some turtles and ducks. You can find here also the Freedom Tree, a very symbolic American tree. Great place for yung kids. I absolutely recommend this park.

I must say I wish my home town had a park set up like this, the scenery was beautiful the trails were nice and easy to follow for a walk or jog. Plenty of open space to relax, read a book, walk your dog, have recreational events or just simple enjoy the view of nature. The park is well kept, bathroom and cook out areas are cleaned. The park it’s self is well maintained and beautiful above all.

This is a great park and place to take a short quick walk around the pond or hike along the trail in the perimeter. People are always friendly and no one was afraid of our dog which was a plus. The only thing missing is a dedicated “off leash” dog area.- If you’re planning a large picnic I’d recommend coming before 11am possibly earlier to set up. This place gets really busy- Parking has not been an issue and I usually find a spot within a few minutes.

Visited the park again today for the first time in forty two years. Went with a dear friend to participate in the Village Heartbeat walking. I could not believe the transformation that has taken place. The pond with two fountains are about the only two things that looked familiar. There were tennis courts, soccer fields, basketball courts, large padded play areas for children, rental bikes at every turn, picnic areas, covered picnic areas, walking trails, clean public restrooms and parking galore. Homes have been renovated, urban growth everywhere. There were signs of vibrant life all over the park. Wild ducks swimming in the Brook (waterway/stream), squirrels running about from tree to tree, sounds of the birds could be heard clearly. There were several multicultural groups walking in the park, several youth groups jogging and the most beautiful sight and inspiring act I saw this morning was a sighted man holding the hand of a visually impaired man as they jogged. Kindness and thoughtfulness is still alive and well in Charlotte, NC. THE PARK WAS CLEAN,water fountains in aboundanc (turned off for the winter season). The park is pet friendly with ample supplies to scoop up the behind your dog. Dogs must wear leashes during the entire time they are in the park. Ample handicapped parking available as well as non handicapped parking. Great place to visit.

This park is really nice and right smack in the middle of a gorgeous neighborhood. Because o that they have 2 entrances. They dont have a lot of parking but for events street parking is allowed. They have lots of green grass to pop a squat, put down a blanket or unfold a chair. They have public restrooms which is a plus for women. I personally hate port a potties. Unless thats my only option. The best is the stage. I went for a Jazz festival. You can hear the music from any location in the park.I will be back to this location.

Mother nature provided us with this beautiful space and the city made it into a place everyone can enjoy. This is my favorite park in Charlotte. The park is huge and offers something for everyone in every age group. There are huge soccer fields, a volley ball court with sand an obstacle course area for those who want a challenge. A huge playground for kids with a steam locomotive that they can play in.This park always has a wonderful and diverse crowd. Theres always plenty of people working out, walking their dogs, playing with their kids or just enjoying the scenery. My favorite part of the park is the walking/bike riding trails that snakes around the water feature with the ducks and of course all the grass and trees. Nothing I love more than laying a blanket on the grass to relax for a few after taking a lap or 2 around the park. This place always puts a smile on my face.
