The eagle sanctuary was not difficult to find and its a good place to stop on the way to Astoria from Vancouver. The lookout point is close to the road and the staircase and wood on the ground was extremely slippery. I dont recommend using this if you have any physical challenges. We did not see any eagles, but we did see a beaver with our binoculars.
When weather permits this is actually a great place to view local wildlife. Due to the conditions of the road however I can only give it 3 stars. Parts are right next to the waters edge so I wouldnt advise traveling here with heavy rain warnings or right after intense storms.
Nice and peaceful, if your lucky youll see a few eagles flying around.
I have enjoyed living in the area. There is so many different types of birds, not just Eagles. A person who likes to bird watching would be amazed.
Saw the sign, but never saw the building. Went into a loop.
I had drove by this place going to and coming from work. Finally took time and did a one-day road trip with a friend. Stopped to check this out and was a little dismayed...just a small pullout on the side of the road and a small observation deck overlooking the Columbia River. The sign said sanctuary...I was expecting an Aviary I guess where they took in injured Eagles and then returned them to the wild after recovery.
Nice little viewing platform. Good spot for photos, but theres not much else to do other than that. Worth a pop in on your way to Astoria. Theres no parking lot, just space in the shoulder of the road for a few cars to park.
Wildlife photographer here, didn’t see any eagles.
I seen a bald eagle
Beautiful!
So many Eagles
Beautiful
Somewhat disappointed about how small this sanctuary actually was could use more viewing areas and more places to sit and observe
Awesome experience
Nice place to drive through
Gorgeous little area to explore.
Peaceful and quiet
