This is a gorgeous, thoughtful memorial to the Chinese population of old Astoria. The care that went in to the informative plaques truly shows how the Astoria community has grown and accepts blame for their dishonorable acts against the Chinese in times past. This was not only a stunning garden to behold and enjoy on a peaceful afternoon, but an educational one. I will continue to bring my friends and family to this garden to teach them about a small part of Oregon history.

Low maintenance park that is fine to walk through, but provides no space for something as simple as a lunch. Stone benches, but no tables or facilities. This is a basic guilty white people park. Sorry we were mean to the Asian immigrants!Local homeless shelter is nearby, so avoid at dawn and dusk during the cold months.

Interesting installation in memory of historic Chinese family members in Astoria. Small, but nice green space in a quiet part of town.

Not sure how this is called a park ... but sure, its nice to stroll around a bit and sit on one of the benches to contemplate life for a little while. Dont expect tranquility and silence though! This is a couple thousand square feet rectangle in a relative busy section of downtown Astoria with a road at two of its sides.

Very nice park to visit on a dry day or a nice place to enjoy a good book. It is a memoriam to many Chinese workers that contributed to building and working in Astoria back in Shanghai days. For more history please also visit the Astoria heritage museum as well as the Astoria Maritime museum.

Though not large, this is a beautiful public art installation. All the sculptures and engravings are dedicated to the Chinese population that were an integral part of Astorias growth. Well worth the visit.

Its ok a little bit of Astoria history, they could have found a different location, because downtown could have used the parking. Downtown Astoria could really use a multi-level parking garage and charge a small fee to pay for construction and maintence, thats just my opinion.

At one time Chinese made about about 2/3 of Astorias population. The area history museums fumble on this and dont talk about it. Like it never happened. Like the laws that kept them out of jobs were never on the books. Like they never existed. But they were here. They lived here. They contributed to our society. They made this country a better place. How did they get here, where did they live, and what happened to them after they left? While these bigger questions are not answered, this exhibit does at least acknowledge that Chinese lived here, just like you and me. They suffered, they lived, and they loved, just like you and me.This corner of town is well worth a visit. A visit for more than a few minutes. A visit that allows time to contemplate and imagine what was and what could have been.

It does not belong there. A garden designed to show our appreciation for how they helped develop our area, should have been placed in proximity to where they worked and lived.

It has interesting displays, but no grass. Also has no water fountains. Its basically just a corner histoic, cultural display. No comfortable place to sit and no bathrooms.
