I attempted to visit the museum 25 mins prior to closing and was turned away. I was of course polite and promised to wrap my visit up well before closing (its small so easily doable) but it didnt matter to the lady at the entry. I just think its bad practice to turn business away in a small town that relies heavily on tourism and was honestly quite taken aback by the apathy. If the museum wants to close at 3:30 then just say you close at 3:30. I love Astoria but this experience left a bad taste in my mouth.

It was $6 when I went. Pretty cool layout and it was fun making a video like a movie. Worth the $6 spent, but its a quick tour (can do in 5-30min), so dont let your expectations run wild. The right room has two screens worth reinacting. The upstairs is not open.

Being a huge Goonies fan, I greatly enjoyed this place. We took our time to read the displays and reminisce on the scenes that took place at the old Clatsop County Jail. The ORV with bullet holes is parked right out front. The other half is an interactive “hot set” in which we were able to re-enact scenes from various films shot in Oregon. We met Rob, a technician that was working on the dolly cam, which enables quick 180° shots for filming dialogue. Rob was cool enough to film us fumble through our lines take after take! We will be back again. Worth every penny.

We had a great time exploring this film museum and making a little film with a film scene set they had set up. We love the movie “the goonies” so seeing all kinds of props they used on the movie was pretty neat. We took a picture in front of the Goonie Truck, pictures of the mansion across the street, tried to guess movie quotes written on pieces of paper taped onto the ceiling and walls, and did some other things. Some of their film sets weren’t working so we got in for $12- kids are free.

Havent been there yet but its the Goonies set. Honestly, there cant be any place better. Im surprised that whole town isnt a gated community by now with permanent residence. Truth is if my wife and I move back to the USA, we are moving there. Dont care if I have a long commute to work. Its too cool a place to live to care about the commute. I love it already and Im buying out the gift shop when I come. Been a huge huge fan of Goonies since I was a kid and saw it in theaters. Probably seen it 2000 times at least. I never get tired of it. Its the best movie ever made in my opinion.

The nostalgia of Goonies brought us here. While we couldn’t pass up the chance, do know it’s $6 per person and you literally see the jail cell from Goonies and a few artifacts from different Oregon movies. There’s an attempt to spice it up with some cool filming and editing features, but it’s still limited and a bit crammed. I’d recommend taking a picture outside and a quick peak from the front desk - you see pretty much everything from there. If you’re like us, fork over the $6 and say you went to the Goonies jailhouse. Just hope no one asks for more details .

Came to Astoria specifically to come check out the Goonies stuff. The Jeep out front is pretty cool, as are many of the props inside the jail. But $6 is a little steep considering the amount of stuff in there. You can re-enact some of the scenes of some Oregon movies but we didnt bother, its a little crowded. If youre going for anything other than the Goonies, I wouldnt bother. The little gift shop isnt bad but its still pretty pricey.

You goonie! this is a cool little spot to check out $6 for admission $12 for three museums total I didnt have enough time to check out the other two museums but this was worth it. If your fan of the movie or other movies that have been recorded in Oregon I would highly encourage you check this out. I didnt realize how many movies were actually recorded in this state but its an impressive amount. Whats really interesting is that somebody created this two degrees of Kevin Bacon game... Well this museum has a billboard that explains 10 degrees of Corey Feldman. There are also rooms that have sets with videos you can actually reenact certain scenes from select movies. I didnt participate in that but I saw other people, seems like they enjoyed it. Also they have a little shop that sells souvenirs, as far as tourist prices go its reasonable and worth swinging by just to check out. I wouldnt encourage groups of 4+ to go at one time, its pretty tight.

Way too small. Squeeze past people in hallways. About 75% is focused on the Goonies movies. Seriously, get over it. Just some movie props. Then there is the 20% where you can crowd in to film a scene from a movie. The other 5% is a few posters or info on walls about other movies. Youre bumping into people trying to get around. It was way too short. Felt like a rip-off for $6. Think it was probably $1/min. Oh, there is the spacious room for the gift shop.

Too much money for whats there even though it was only $6. Nothing really to see, no signage directing a person from room to room. We tried to make the best of it by making our own film. That was fun but only because we are funny. Suppose to receive our film by email. Its been a week. Ive called twice. Now they tell us it could take a month for their tech staff in SEATTLE to find our file/film and send it to us.The other museums were interesting. Go to The Column. Astoria is a beautiful city, lots of photo opportunities. Go to Fort Stevens and tour the old military base instead.

This is the jail from the Goonies. There are two parts to the museum. One part has cameras and scenes set up that you can film yourself doing a scene from a film. The other “museum” part is literally just the jail cells with some Goonies memorabilia in it.I was with a 4 year old who couldn’t do the scenes part so the museum literally took about 2 minutes. $6 NOT well spent. Wish we had done the Victorian mansion next door instead.

Was super excited when arrived, but being diabetic needed to use the restroom before hand. Was told they didnt have a public restroom and that I would need to cross the street and climb a hill to another building to use theirs. Well u now what, not cool. Im sure when the staff needs to pee they dont have to cross the street and climb a hill. So we left and took our business elsewhere. Sad seeing how we came from Texas via way of Washington. Not cool. Wouldnt want to support a business that treats potential customers/customers this way. Fyi the Maritime Museum got your money!

This museum is little more than a fan-made homage to the Goonies. Little of value to see and absolutely not worth the $6 entrance. Set in the old jail house, there is more information in wall posters on the history of the jail than there is on the Goonies film. Dont get me wrong, its cool to stand in the jail cell from the beginning of the Goonies, but there is little else here to justify the relatively minor cost of admission. Considering the sheer quantity of films shot in Astoria, it feels like there should be an extensive gallery of props and costumes, never before seen production videos or stills, facts and tidbits spanning both floors of the old jail house. What you unfortunately you see, is that most of the investment has gone into a computerized interactive system for making your own short films in a tiny studio with camears and green screens, and no way to keep other patrons from getting in the way. Its cool to have an interactive focus on the modern process of film making, but I want to see Johnny 5s stunt head, I want to see the screen used skull key from the Goonies. Maybe a cursory glance at the Goonies impact is all you need so long as you get a bite out of the film making process yourself, but I left feeling like I didnt get my moneys worth.
