The Commons is a great place to visit, and these trails bordering it were wonderful. Creek running through entire area, couple little waterfalls, well marked. I was doubtful, but The Hippie Trees are actually pretty magical. Short loops, long trails, hilly but not difficult, something for everyone. Highly recommend.

The Hippee Tree is such a beautiful place to visit. A place absolutely seeped in history and local legend. A must see.

This is such a treasure for the city. The grounds of this historic site are beautiful and include wooded trails, a botanical garden, and lots of open green space. The buildings have been and are being restored and renovated into unique living quarters and businesses.

Great trails. Well maintained and more of a local spot. I love the beach but when I get out of the water its time to hike. Very beautiful countryside with a little help from our friends. I get by with a little help from my friends.

Beautiful trails, and fairly well kept up. I was a little sad to see all the graffiti, however it didnt detract from the trip and in the case of the cistern added an air of mysticism. Beautiful place.

Pretty nice trails, there are a lot of indiscriminate trails so sometimes its easy to get lost. I think whoever operates it should just make the indiscriminate biking trails official trails. This way there could be less confusion biking would still be supported.

The Commons Natural Area is a year round treasure in downtown Traverse City. Trails lead hikers & cyclists past meadows, through forests & over gentle streams and provide beautiful views from the hills.

Hidden jewel! Though the outside seems a bit plain, they have lot of unique shops and restaurants inside to explore. Feels like walking in a vintage cave. Double white chocolate in their bakery section is good. Good art work on walls. Happened to see only ground floor, and yet loved it!! Must see..!!!

Whether on one of the great trails or just milling around the historic architecture, Grand Traverse Commons and the nature preserve is a wonderful place to be. Hike, take photos, cross country ski, and simply be outdoors. The older, unoccupied buildings are dangerous and there is a lot of broken glass. These buildings are great for photos but not for young children.

This is such a great place to walk the trails, have a picnic, or browse the gift shop. We especially enjoyed the Fairy Trail, with all the cute little fairy houses along the way! And the gift shop has some of the best nature themed gifts in town.

Great place to get in some exercise and good views of Traverse City. When you update the map signs though, please make them more user friendly and put them on the posts facing away from the sun. Many of them face south and the sun has bleached the colors of the trails so you cant read the map.

This is a simple hike with several loops that can be taken on foot or on a bike. Notable attractions include an old orchard, several small stream crossings, a nice view of the Traverse City landscape and the hippy tree. While not extremely exciting, these trails do make for decent exercise with several sizeable uphill climbs and are a good way to walk off some calories from the nearby restaurants.
