Full disclosure: I work here so Im biased. It is a small museum focusing on ages 1 to 8, so its not for everyone. We have some big plans for our little museum - I encourage everyone to stop by and see what its about. If you dont like what you see let us know so we can build the best childrens museum.

Fun and educational place for children to visit! We all (4 of us) had a lovely time visiting here! Reasonable prices for admissions and gift shop. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Great location. Love the variety of hands-on-exhibits for children of all ages.

I wasnt sure if we were going to come here due to the reviews that stated it was small. Im here now with our 2 1/2 year old and it is not small? He has been having a BLAST for over an hour now. Very nice place. Tons for kids his age to do (and probably lists that are a bit older). It is geared towards toddlers, I would say. Not sure if kids much younger would enjoy themselves as much. Im very impressed. We will be back next time we visit TC!

Finding something to do with a young child during winter in Traverse City is hard. Thankfully there is the Great Lakes Childrens Museum. A 3-6 year old would love it! Had a decent size number of fun and interactive displays. My daughter kept going back to the water table as its the most fun and popular thing there. It is not a huge space but just the right size that allows the kids to be kids. Not an all day deal but good for a couple hours at least.

Being a teacher you really want to enhance a childs learning experience, and the Great Lakes Childrens Museum was a perfect choice to provide a great experience for a younger group. Really a fantastic museum for children. Plenty to do and see and the staff is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable with the information and dealing with children. If your a teacher of 1st graders this would be a perfect field trip for the afternoon.

My kiddos, a 3 year old and 2 year old twins loved it, and were engaged, very little kid friendly. The water table was the biggest hit with my kids. The downside like others have said is the cost per person. We are a family of 6, which will add up quickly if we dont decide to get the membership.

My 2 1/2 year old had a blast exploring new things. Definitely aimed at very young children and it was smaller than I expected. It was more of an indoor play place than a museum. Charging $7 for kids who are young enough to play and enjoy the experience seems reasonable, however it seems steep to charge an additional $7 for each supervising adult who enters as well. Especially considering the hours are 10am-5pm which can be a challenge for families like us with kid(s) who still nap mid-day to spend a good chunk of time there. It was a fun place for him to burn off some energy on a rainy day-he would have gone down the slides a hundred more times if I didnt make him leave!

Decent place for maybe 3 to 6 year olds! If kids are any older then 6, I would rate it a waste of money. Trying to figure out why parents have to pay to get in to watch their children.

If I could give a zero rating i would. The old lady that runs it is EXTREMELY rude. Someone should remind her it is a KIDS place. Will never return and would definitely not recommend. Save your money.

Great clean place for kids around 1-9 years old. Staff is very friendly. The exhibits are all very hands on will feel like a playground to kids. The place isnt huge but they fit a lot in without feeling crowded. Only downside is it costs $7 each for both children and adults, which adds up fast for a family. Theyre a non-profit though so I doubt they would charge that if they didnt need to.

My 2 year old loves visiting the childrens museum and its the perfect place to go on a rainy day. It is usually busy but there are many different activities that change regularly. We always bring our lunch and stay for a couple of hours. Our family has a membership, its a great deal!

This place was way to small and not nearly enough activities for all the children that were there. I was told that the max capacity of this place is 280 and that seems like a fire Hazard waiting to happen. Don’t WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!

There are two kinds of people who love this place, toddlers and individuals who are boat and navy seal obsessed. Unfortunately my 5 year olds were only mildly interested. $21 for 3 people and we stayed for about 40 minutes. Will I go again, probably not. Did my kids have fun, a little. Did the learn something new, possibly. But I could get a free library book and accomplish the same l goals. I wanted to like this place.

We were in Traverse City on vacation, and it was a cloudy day with spotty rain showers and we needed to keep our 3 and 5 year old occupied. we spent $35 to admit my wife and myself, their grandpa, and both kids to basically play in an indoor playground. This place is more play cafe (without food) than museum. The water flow table is pretty cool, but thats about it. Not worth the $35 and they were bored within an hour. If you are hoping to educate your children dont enter this place with high expectations. If you just need to keep them busy you might achieve that but you will overpay.

Museum is quite the stretch. Its more of a play area with a few informational posters. They charge $7 for both adults and children. We went on a weekday there were easily 100 people inside so $7 a pop seems exorbitant for a non profit. Its very small, geared towards toddlers and very young children. Customer service was poor also, after expressing surprise about the fees the woman at the front presented me with a logical fallacy about paying to bring children to a movie theater. If its pouring rain out and you have toddlers who really need to burn off some energy this might be your spot, otherwise I would not recommend it.

Fun for the kids, but not what I thought it would be looking at the website. The word museum made me think of something totally different. Its basically a place where the kids can come play and burn off some energy. Not happy it paid $28 for a play house.

This is a great place for kids 0-6 years of age. The museum is small, only two rooms. With that said, a lot of hands on activities to keep kids busy for a few hours. Some things they have are a lighthouse, boat, water table, climbing area, train table and a couple of outdoor things.

Its definitely more of a play area than museum. Quite a bit smaller than I anticipated with the name of museum Geared towards very little kids. My 2 year old had fun... But its a bit expensive when you have to pay full price for each adult and child.
