Beautiful park and urge visitors to check this place out! I loved my walk and seeing the old witches house!! Sooo cool! So much nature and it’s so green and lush! Was a refreshing stroll through the park with art to be viewed and trails all over!Loved all the sites and wildlife I saw!

We actually chose this area because it had a good parking area. Some of the surrounding trails had street parking (which we werent sure we were allowed to park there). This one was clearly a parking area, and had a bunch of well-maintained trails. The witches castle is cool to see, but it is a shame that it has been tagged and defaced. Easy hike down to see the little cottage definitely picked up a few bits of trash on this hike, so it gets used, and by litterers! Hikers, please stop with the single use water bottles!

A great trail for a run, or a dog friendly light hike. Perfect balence of hills and rocky terrain to get a workout, but not too much to be a strain or difficult. The new upgrades are fantastic, and have made the trail more sturdy and wider in some areas allowing more comfortable room to pass with multiple people.

One of the best hikes in Portland. A must visit hidden gem if youre visiting Portland. But be careful, it might cause you to want to move to the beautiful city of Portland permanently. A great reality to know there is such a wilderness hiking environment so close within the city. Narrow paths, but as are most hiking routes. Hike leads to the beautiful PIttock Mansion view point. Follow signs to Pittock Mansion. Take pictures, smile, breathe deeply, observe the beauty and find your centered peaceful nature.

Macleay Park is such a beautiful place that suffers for its popularity. I wish more visitors were mindful of their impacts of wandering off-trail, their off-leash dogs, and their trash. Similarly, I wish the park had enough support to provide trail maintenance to adequately keep up with the amount of traffic in the park. Like any trail in Forest Park, it’s a Five Star trail that only gets three stars because people need to spread out when they can.

Like hiking in a rain forest. This place is crazy. Ferns, a babbling brook, light rain sprinkles await you in Oregon. Parking is free while well defined and maintained trails make this park a delight to visit. Loads of friendly people greet you as you walk along this forest trail system. So yourself a favor and check it out.

Great trail, lots of people out today. There was some lite mud on the trail, but not enough to make the shoes very dirty. There were lots of birds tweeting and some squirrels barking. Many of the other hikers were walking pet dogs, but every single one was very well behaved and easy to pass by. The trail has some new handrails and bridges but remains somewhat rugged which I like, I mean at least it is not paved! I hiked from lower Macleay park up to Pittock Mansion, there were times when the forest was nearly silent, and there was one road to cross. There is certainly a lot of Oregon Grape Holly along the trail, mostly towering Douglas fir trees, and some other decidious trees and even smaller Holly trees.

First time visiting Forest Park and I was pleasantly surprised! Lots of people but wonderful experience. Macleay Trail was easy and beautiful. Cool in the shade on a hot day. The creek was a pleasant sound as we walked and talked. Public restrooms were convenient. I was impressed by how clean the trail was! No garbage or homeless people camps. Money well spent Portland! Good Job!

A Friday hike in Forest Park on the Lower Macleay and Wildwood Trails. The Lower Macleay Trail wasfull of people and was hard to enjoy the views. The trail takes you over several footbridges over Balch Creek with a large variety of trees and plants. The sound of birds and the creek provide a nice experience as you hike. The trail ends at the Stone House and becomes the Wildwood Trail if you want to hike above the canyon. You will find rocks and tree roots on the trail that may trip you up.The trail became less crowdedafter the Stone House with a steep climb to the AudubonHouse.I turned around at this pointIt was a sharp descent backto the trailhead. The trail continues to thePittock Mansion and Washington Park if you wanta longer hike.I enjoyed the hike on the twotrails despite the crowd on the trailsParking is very limited near the Lower Macleay trailhead.

Nice hike with a great view at the end. It’s uphill almost the whole way, so be prepared! Skip the hike and head straight to the Pittock Mansion for the view, but if you like earning your panoramic Instagram pix, the hike won’t disappoint. Tucked back in a really cute neighborhood in NW Portland, there’s a decent amount of parking, an old steel bridge, and a babbling creek that runs along side you for most of the trail. Keep your eyes peeled for cool wildlife and always stay on the designated trail! It keeps the critters’ homes in tact!️

Yet another wonderful corner of Forest Park. Theres the old stone house, wildwood trail that snakes almost thirty miles into the forest, a lovely river that follows the main path. You can connect to trails up to Pittock Mansion, walk to lower Macleay Parks grassy area for a picnic, or if youre lucky, you can see some pictures f the Portland Thrones strolling about

This place was so incredibly beautiful. The trail that starts after the tunnel on the left is extremely steep when you first get going. Other than that part the rest of the trail is an easy hike. The whole hiking area is trash free and full of friendly people and dogs. ( all extremely well behaved of course.) At a certain point you come to an old witches stone house. Its incredible. If you havent been to this place you definitely have to go check it out.
