Great family adventure. My children absolutely loved the place. All the grounds are kept in immaculate condition and the water is crystal clear. This was my first time but definitely wont be my last. I traveled all the way from NY and wouldnt hesitate to do it again. This is a must see if you are in CT. Families of all kind will have a great time!

Everyone was having a great time. I loved all the zip lines. There must have been about 9 of them. The highest zipline is about 200 feet above the water at the top of a steep cliff. The entire place is inside an old mining quarry, and looks cool. The place was clean. The employees were exceptional. I think the place was great and I would definitely go back. No paper tickets necessary. They can scan your ticket from your phone. Coolers are allowed and the beach is pleasant. The food wasnt overly expensive. Its a nice place to hang out all afternoon.

It was more then I expected. The facility was clean and set up perfect for those who are concern about the cova. The staff are polite and very encouraging. The attraction can seem scary but it is NOT. I am scared of heights and it was the best experience. I just have to work on up body strength as it is very required to get up some attraction. There is a lot of swimming and water is perfect temp. This was worth my long drive and I want to thank the staff as they are doing great job. They made me and my daughter feel safe.

The banks of the Connecticut River in Portland have a brownstone bedrock, which provided the building material for cities like New York, Portland, Philadelphia, Washington D.C. and Chicago. The main quarry site was in operation from the 17th century until a flood and then a hurricane ended commercial quarrying in the 1930s.Since the 2000s the flooded quarry has been transformed into a summer activity center with climbing walls, as well as paddleboards and kayaks for hire. There’s also an inflatable obstacle course, wakeboarding, a rope swing and an amazing 11 different zip-lines.

Great time! Very unique experience. Definitely better for older kids (even though there is a small kids only area) I would say ages 10+. You need to be strong to climb many of the obstacles. Love that everyone has to wear life jackets. So glad we went during reduced capacity due to covid, in a normal year the crowds must be insane! Make sure to protect your phone, mine did not survive the experience ;)

They knew theyre was a thunderstorm coming but never told people to reschedule. They closed down the park after an hour after we started doing anything. The lighting was crazy and the thunder was on going. They told me I had more than enough time in the park when I in the park water for an hour. I paid 200 and it was wasted. There was no rain check they kept saying they are opening back up. Its now cold and windy and they expect people to go na n in there. Tom and his staff are greedy for money!!! Great park but the people who work for it SUCK!

Ive heard about this place for years and I finally got the chance to go yesterday. Now granted because of the pandemic I think theyre capacity is only 50%. The place was super clean The water was great The employees were very vigilant theyre very big on safety there which is nice. I would say if you bring a kid under 12 and not strong swimmer dont just let them roam around. Food was great I had there chicken bowl and a few friends said there was food was good. I think the only thing that I can say was a few of the floating obstacles out there had broken handles and you werent able to climb up on top of them unfortunately.

I wouldnt know, their no refund/exchange policy is very disappointing. Especially with the pandemic happening it is hard to plan in advance and make plans. When I was unable to go on the date I had bought tickets for I called for suggestions and asked if they could refund/exchange them for a different date. I was repeatedly told there was nothing they could do, no sympathy or other options were given. Which is ridiculous when I just paid 80 for 2 tickets that are now completed wasted. What a great gift, thanks Brownstone. I suggest you change this policy as it has changed my opinion on your park and how you treat your paying customers.

This is not a park for everyone. Also a lot of what you see on the website is not there. I felt bad for a lot of kids that don’t have the upper body strength to lift themselves up to a small hand grip. The floats were unusable because the hand grips were missing. We could not enjoy lunch because of the bees that just seem to not go away. So if you are allergic to bees prob want to stay away. The price of admission is to high for the lack luster and quality of the park. I give it one star for the friendly staff. My first and definitely my last time visiting the park.

No doubt it was fun! The capacity was set to 25% because of the pandemic but if it was normal capacity I don’t think I could stomach paying $36 to wait in the very few attractions. We ordered food and waited 1 hour and had to remind the staff 4 times that they forgot to make our food. Also as We were packing up to leave I noticed some kinda of water was leaching into the kiddie area water. Ironic it was directly in front of the showers. I hope to good they are not pumping dirty water into the lake. To make it more sketchy the water was coming up from the sand so clearly it was covered up for a reason. Fun but enter at your own risk. Not sure if I will go back. If you go, bring your own food/drinks, chairs, Show up super early, and bring low expectations. Good luck!!

The park is amazing and the experience is insane but, their staff needs an attitude change. Out of all their employees, I was greeted nicely by maybe 3, if even. They are rude and have no communication skills. I understand its hot and during the covid period but, the attitude they perceive gives off a bad vibe for the entire park. Also, many of the workers are young which could also be the issue. Overall, the park is excellent 10/10, the employees 1/10. Something needs to change.

Fun place to take the kids. Staff were friendly and helpful. We rented the large gazebo but people kept passing through it to get in or out of the water. Also the trampoline was right next to the gazebo so we were constantly hearing screams and swearing by people playing on it. Please make more clear signage that the gazebo is private and if possible move the trampoline farther away from it. Thank you.

First time there. Had a great time. because of Covid park capacity reduced to 25% so it was not crowded and no long lines, however there were long waits. This is a very physical experience as you must climb robe ladders, toe hold wall climbing. Takes long time for some guests to climb to the attraction. For example the Fat Boy; guests from in the water must pull themselves up via rock wall toe holds. This proved quite difficult for many guests and after several attempts gave up. This added to the wait time considerably. I would think they could have built some sort of ladder to make it easier to climb. The Zip line by the slide requires guests to climb a rope ladder 3/4 the way up and then climb a pole with metal steps, quite uncomfortable if you are barefoot and again a bit challenging if you are not very strong. So if the park was at full capacity the waits would probably be really long. Other than that the place is great. Very clean, friendly staff excellent attractions and they were very Covid Conscience.

Spent the day at Brownstone Park in Portland, CT. Overall, a very positive experience. First, the positives: The staff were professional and the place felt safe; you could bring youre own food and drinks to make the experience more personal and affordable; and park wasnt too big or small, enough variation to be interesting but not overwhelming. As for the negatives: the wooden walkways between the swim stations were pretty unstable and slippery; some of the lines were long and tedious and the staff didnt seem to care about moving things along; the locker area sold out quickly and needs to be expanded and more spacious. That all said, wed go back again to spend a half day (not enough to do for a full day) and bring a cooler.

Web site make it sound very COVID safe, although everyone was asked to don a mask at the gate, no-one wore one inside. Confusing. When asked manager about wearing mask, he said it was 50% on them and 50% on uswhether to wear masks. Web site says 25% capacity with plenty of room to distance. The park was limited in distancing space by the afternoon and crowded. We arrived a little before 10 am ( park opening time)and there were already many people in the park and no tables or space available in the shaded area. We tried to rent a gazebo and were told they were all rented although there were at least 3 that had no guests up until we left. Equipment was sub par. A rope to one of the floating objects broke after a very large man jumped on it, closing it down until it was fixed. Some zip line harnesses were frayed, life jackets were ripped or old, but still used. The water that they were cleaned in was dirty. The quarry water had trash around the water edge. There were not enough visible life guards and when a child was injured, the guard paused the ride to attend to the bleeding injury with dried up alcohol pads handed to the mom. There was no injury report or accompaniment to the first aide station. Definitely will take the family elsewhere next time.

I dont know how people are posting that they felt safe here during quarantine. I guess I am extra paranoid being a nurse. They do try to get you to social distance waiting in line, wearing a mask in line and in the bathroom. But once you are in the water or on the docks (which seemed VERY crowded even though they said capacity was limited) people were always on top of each other and nobody had masks on. Also for the zip lines, slide, rock wall you still had to wait 20-30 minutes very close to other people (even with the limited capacity). As other people mentioned some of the climbing structures had broken handles and were therefore unusable, why would they not replace these every summer? My kids had fun on the slides and ziplines, but we will not be going back.

Very nice park. Overall we had a great day. We went at 25% capacity and I cant even beging to imagine it at 100% as we still waited for an hour for the bigger ziplines. I dont know why, but I had in my head more of an idea of inflatable obstacle course kind of thing, so we were a little disappointed by the amount of inflatables, although my kids still enjoyed them. Everything was clean, the staff was kind and helpful; my 11 year old daughter was nervous about her harness fitting properly for ziplining and the workers were kind and helpful; as a mom that is very important to me. I dont understand the reviews that complained about the water or the cleanliness of the beach area (maybe some people left garbage behind? Idk, but that certainly wasnt the issue today. Tons of fun to be had here! With a wide variety of activities ranging from impressive zip lines to a relaxing day swimming and lounging in the sun, there is definitely fun to be had for everyone. Most of my group got the full adventure pass and spent the day zip lining, riding the water slide, and climbing around on the inflatable water features. The less adventurous people went with the less expensive swim pass and had just as much fun staying on the ground / in the water. (they too had the option to use the floating water features). The floating trampoline was a particular hit with the kids in our group. We rented a gazebo for the day and I can not recommend that enough. The gazebo was floating attached to one of the docks and we could swim right off of it. Definitely planning on getting a season pass next year and going as often as possible. I was recommended to bring water shoes since there can be quite a bit of walking if you plan on doing a lot of zip lining, and I found that to be good advice. That being said, plenty of people were barefoot all day and didnt seem too bothered by it. Great place to spend the day, whether your goal is adventure or simple relaxation.

There is plenty of open space and activities to do, as well as plenty of space to sit and relax in between swims, cliff jumps, and zip lines.Take note that this is billed as an adventure experience, and that is worth thinking about. If you come into this park expecting activities that you just sit there for, then you will be disappointed. You basically have to swim and climb to every activity, but again thats how Brownstone bills itself. Overall this is a great place to go to have a cool mix of relaxing in the water and flying through the air!

It is a great place with lots of things to do. We had lots of fun, although there seems to be more stuff in the pictures from their website than what its actually there.Main downside is the staff, they are not friendly at all and they are not helpful. They dont care if there are people having issues with the climbing or wake board for example, they offer no help or guidance. Also there is no one supervising the inflatables, sometimes it got wild (lots of people at the same time, teenagers wrestling in some of them) so you have to be careful that you or your kids might get hurt. Also there is people lying literally everywhere, they should have specific areas for tables and picnics.

Also some of the rides are missing handles so that was a bummer that we werent able to get on. Water was warm, food was decent. Locker room is small but they were convenient. Theres also a shuttle bus that takes you to your car he stopped midway to pick us up we were so grateful.
