Fernhill Park is definitely a hidden gem in North Portland. A very open space with a lot to offer. Besides all the usual stuff: a recreational area, a dog park, tennis courts, football and baseball fields, running trails; there is even an athletic track, which looks and feels very well maintained.

This Park is divided into the distinct parts: dog area, play structure area, and spots field. Last night, there were people at all three spots--buzzing with activity. It serves the local area perfectly. Its a quiet part of town that hopefully remains that way. So many dogs!

Lovely park along Holman St. Off leash dog area is very popular. By late summer much of the grass is extremely beaten down making for dusty conditions on windy days. Lots of large sycamore trees.

This park has lots to do: kids play structure, tennis courts, baseball/soccer fields, track with football field, dog park, nature area, and splash pad area. The bad thing about it is that dog owners do not follow off-lease rules (specific area) so dogs are running wild which can scare children while playing.

This is the best dog park. The park itself is really big but the off leash section is spread out, with rolling hills and valleys and is perfect for ball throwing and basking in the socially distant sunlight.

It is such a lovely park in the middle of a nice neighbourhood in Northeast Portland. I went there for a Sunday morning run and the track was in an excellent condition. There were many girls there playing some kind of team sport, a lot of people with their little kids and also a lot of dogs around. Overall a very lovely and safe atmosphere for running playing or working out. I highly recommend everyone to check it out if you are looking to spend your weekend mornings in a nice open area. It is also an ideal place to just spread out a picnic or read a book.

I found this heart turned butterfly on the sweetheart tree at the top of the hill at Fernhill. Its metamorphosis was made possible by a local who was carving hers and her lovers initials in the sweetheart tree. Loves scars are evident from the last decade, are clearly visible on the trees rough truck. I believe the tree is a Bey Tree by I know its a sight.

I love this park and it has some special memories that Ill cherish forever. This park is pet friendly and boasts a off leash dog area. The leash free zone is a big favorite of the locals and is used to the fullest. The visitors are very friendly and welcoming to new comers. The many variety of trees and some old growth make for a beautiful back drop to one of Portland most desirable and growing neighborhoods. This park does not however have year around open restroom which can pose and issue for anyone, but being it caters to a gaggle of youngsters that use the newly up dated playground and many elderly trail hikers it would be nice to see at least a couple porta potties. Over all i find this park to be generally clean and safe. During the snow storm we had in late February it was bustling with kids of all ages that arrived with anything that would slide in the snow and they raced, sled and played for two straight days and nights. Love this park, Thank You Portland

Perfect little park in a quiet neighborhood. The playground is newish and nicely maintained. There is a splash pad and bathrooms, but they are a ways away from the playground. Huge grassy area and some kind of courts (bb, tennis? We didnt get close enough). I didnt see a parking lot, but plenty of street parking. Great for kids and dogs!

Review №59

This is a great dog park!!! A little confusing because when we showed up, there werent any fenced off areas, but then we noticed people just had their dogs everywhere! This is an unfenced, non segregated dog park, be sure your dog is not aggresive or a runner because this park will not work for you! All dogs we met were very social and friendly, some barking, but great experience for our very shy whippet. Park was a little confusing in that it does have a section for offleash that is really not labeled well, or maybe only labeled if you come into the park from a different direction than we did, but either way, we didnt see it until we were leaving.

Ive lived in this neighborhood for decades and love this park. Theyve entirely redone it all. Theres a great selection of slides swings (handicapped friendly) and a merry go round in addition to the splash pad they added last summer. I will say the new upgrades are designed for grade school children more than tween teens as my granddaughter hates the low small swings from the remodel.

This is a nice city park with lots of sun. Weve mainly used the playground area for our kids, which is good, with a variety of play structures, also a couple each of benches and picnic tables, and lots of grassy space to run around. There are tennis courts, a ball field, a dog off-leash area, and a running track. The kiddie wading pool is no longer in use. There are also restrooms (though as of 5/2018 they seem to be under construction or renovation, which would be welcome).
