Easy way to travel between islands. Purchase tickets that get collected as boarding. When returning just hop on the next available ferry. Took the ferry to peaks Island. Ferry is also able to carry automobiles if you were interested in bringing your vehicle versus walking the island. Staff were definitely monitoring the ferry by walking around all the time. This visit was during COVID-19 so they made sure everyone was wearing their masks while on board.

Took the ferry to Long Island for a day trip. The locals were so friendly and the island was peaceful. The round trip ticket was just under $11. Theres a little market on the beach that has a good selection of beer and wine. They even have a large cooler where you can get some chilled beverages. The ferry experience was lovely. We caught the 730pm ferry back to Portland and were able to see the sunset over the water. Remember to bring your mask and wear it on board!

Roundtrip ticket to Peaks Island was $7.70 for an adult, which you can buy the same day at the window (credit cards only). It was a nice, 15-minute ride over. The ferry is big enough to allow proper social distancing. The cool thing is that residents from the Casco Bay Islands can bring their cars onto the ferry (not sure how much that cost), which is something Ive never really seen before.I would just note that the ferry times are limited now due to Covid (which is understandable). So thats how we decided on Peaks Island - because it was the only one that fit with our schedule. Would I come back the next time Im in Portland? Probably not but its nice if you just want to take a ferry ride somewhere.Tip - you can see Portland Head Lighthouse in the distance!

What an amazing experience. The ferry to Peaks Island was unforgettable. We rented a golf cart on the island and the freshest lobster you could ever have. A+++

We had a such a wonderful time on the ferry yesterday! The prices are extremely reasonable and the bits of knowledge shared were enjoyable. We would absolutely go on this cruise again. The only downside is that they dont tell you what gate the ferry is leaving at until the moment its boarding. People end up scurrying to get in line and even though we got there 40 minutes early, we were basically last in line (irritating).

First charter in 2020 a successful and wonderful cruise of Portland harbor and six outer islands and Fort George. Warm and overcast without swells and Rays of sun on occassion for celebration of life for my brother. Eternally with us, missing your humor and chats.

Fun experience and dog friendly. We were hesitant to spend 3 hours on the ferry for the mail run with the dog, and on the staffs advice, we took the ferry to Peakes Island and back. Great views and the perfect amount of time.

It was fine. They didnt load to full capacity so we could do social distancing aboard. The ferries also carried vehicles on. Just a nice 20 minute ride.

Awesome price! Friendly staff. Great environment! We had a blast visiting peaks island and using Casco bay lines to get there! $7.70 for adults and $3.85 for kids! You can’t beat it! Awesome scenery as well!

While Visiting Portland this has been my worst experience. As this is my first time using the ferry, I had two QUICK questions which I waited in line for. Other people in the line also had questions. I was told loudly and rudely to “get out of the line NOW” I have never been so disrespected in a public place before. The woman worked today 10/18/20 at 10:40am she was small, brown hair, hat on. Honestly there are lots of people that need jobs. Try hiring people that are kind.

Me and my boyfriend went on the mail ring cruise and had a good time! It was about a 3 hour trip and we just stayed on for the whole round trip and had a blast looking at all the islands. There are bathrooms on the boat,the staff was friendly,and the passengers were nice top! We went in the winter time which was very cold but we were able to warm up inside the main area and have a snack from the vending machine. In the summer time I heard its a lot more busy and the capitaine does a tour of all the islands and talks about them which is awesome. It was a really good time,if you go in the winter,be sure to dress warm!

On time, clean and fun. Only part that hurts is the parking garage which you might need to get a second mortgage on your house to afford. Somehow the fee for the ferry is 10x less than parking, my advice, just ride a bike, or park elsewhere, walk and youre Golden!

Take the tour that delivers mail up the coast of Maine. You get great views of the lighthouses and get to see the cute families waiting at the dock for their packages.

Absolutely perfect day for a ride on Casco Bay Lines. plenty of room, everyone wore masks. ship was immaculate. crew was friendly and we left and arrived exactly as scheduled.

We loved our cruise around the islands, the crew was friendly and informative with a little humor thrown in while narrating for us. The boat was clean and a nice ride. It was a perfect day all the way around!

We took the Diamond route which is about 2hrs to 4 island and day to spend the day. Very friendly staff, clean restroom and plenty of seats . We even saw bald eagles and the best.

A nice ferry. There are different ones that go to different islands. You only need to buy a ticket on the mainland, all tickets are round trip.

We hopped on the Mail Run ferry and were really impressed with the experience. We went on a weekday in November and had the boat almost all to ourselves. The islands are beautiful and this was a great way to get out of the city for a few hours and take in the sights. Well worth it!

Ive used Casco Bay Lines many times over the years and theyre always on time, inexpensive, its a fun ride, and last time I was taking the ferry from Peaks to Portland I was particularly impressed:We had taken the ferry out to Peaks to do some photography but didnt bring a car or bikes so we walked. It was very cold out, and we had walked a bit far and lost track of time but needed to make a certain ferry or there wouldnt be another for a couple of ours and we were on a schedule so we booked it, running across the island with pounds of camera gear. The guys from the ferry saw is running from quite a ways off and made sure we got on before launching. We basically made it on time but I give them all the credit because had they not been looking for potential passengers coming down the road they would have missed us, so good on them for that.

Very quick ferry service and relatively cheap. Lots of departure times. They need to put more signs and announcements as to which boats depart from which gate as well as get better more informative kiosk staff.

Most timely form of transportation I’ve ever enjoyed on holiday! The staff were super friendly getting us prepared for the ferry to Peaks Island, and everyone on the boat was very helpful as well. It’s obviously a well-oiled machine going back and forth. Best part was watching them unload all the packages and merchandise for the island... and a lobster food truck! Would highly recommend this method to getting over to the islands.

Love the coffee and doughnuts. The glazed blueberry was amazing..

So so for social distancing. A straightforward transit company otherwise!

Beautiful walking around the old port just as a tourist. Sad Ive never toured Portlands Old Port until now. 35 yrs old now and I have only seen other tourists touring it. And its my home town.

The round trip Mail boat run is a good way to see a lot of the Islands of Casco Bay.

The last boat is a fantastic way to see the bay at sunset

It reminds me of where I came from before I move to Maine and it was great to just sit there and watch the come in and out

Loved the trip out to Pecks Island

We took the mailboat cruise that is about 3 and half hour long. It stopped at 5 different islands which are Little Diamond, Great Diamond, Long, Cliff and Chebeague Islands. For the price of about 17 dollars per adult(children ride free!), the cruise is well worth it for the group of people to socialize, drink and eat on the boat while breathing the fresh sea air and enjoying the beautiful scenery of islands.

The sales associates are far too vigilant in their monitoring of the restroom facilities. I had used the restroom for personal grooming and toiletries and was told, you should be finishing up by now. It was inappropriate and rude, especially due to the fact that the posting for COVID-19 Mandates specifically exclude transient and or persons who are without permanent housing from time limits of usage of the facilities. They are especially forth coming with those who otherwise appear to be indigent.

I loved the boat ride, it was very calming & I learned a lot of history about Maine!

I have taken the ferry to Peaks for years, but have recently taken the mail boat run and the ferry to Baileys recently and really enjoyed just puttering around on the boat and seeing the bay. Theres nothing fancy about the trips. You do get a little bit of a tour from the crew over the loud speakers. If you have friends from away looking for a great New England experience, you may want to check out the schedule and take a ride.

It has elements of a biological preserve, a safari, a zoo, and a theme park. There is a luxury resort with hotels, restaurants, nightlife and a golf course. And there are dinosaurs.

Very nice tour on the mailboat run to the islands if you need to do something it is a nice tour to take highly recommend doing this we were on the cruise ship and a nice thing to do

Quick service and not a very long wait

We took an afternoon mailoat run on a Sunday, and it was rather crowded, some people did not have a seat. The route is fantastic, you ve got to see many islands, 4 stops. Narration. The whole trip took 2h 45m. The only strange thing about the boat is that the benches on the perimeter are inward looking, so if you happen to occupy one, your neck hurts a lot by the end of the trip

Inexpensive, fun trip.I took a ferry ride to Peak’s island to look around.The employees at ticketing and on the boat are polite and helpfulThe trip is inexpensive , I think it was under $8 for a round trip ( it was a few days ago ) . You can see other islands on the way to Peaks.

A part of Downeast life...if you want to get to the Islands without a charter or your own boat, this is your option. 100 Percent Maine, very scenic. Very reasonable and offers Senior rates, pets allowed on leash. Easy access to terminal and very walkable. Nice restrooms.

Beautiful day. Calm water. Saw dolphin. Didnt like people standing in front at the railing that were blocking view of people seated. Would be different if they just stopped to take pictures but they stayed there the whole trip.

Loved the ferry ride, seeing Boston from out in the harbor. Walked the Freedom Trail and this took us back to where we began. Sitting up top made me happy!
