Its a sacred place for me.I have been visiting The Wall for 28 years, since I discovered my name on the black granite in 1992.He was killed in 1967, the year before I got there. Its good to be a survivor, even with a Purple Heart and Agent Orange.

Beautifully cared for. A wonderful place to take your kids to learn why we are free and just how high the price of that freedom cost, and why it so precious.

This Vietnam War Memorial is a very peaceful place. Im glad the public has not vandalized it unlike the many other memorials across the USA in recent weeks. It is nice to see Veterans and others keep this memorial a nice place.

The center part of the place was stunning. Not necessarily for beauty, although there was a case of the trees being nice, but in a sense of stillness and solemnity. To truly appreciate it it is best to come when theres less people.

I suppose this place might have more meaning if I were a veteran, but as it is it seemed like a pretty bland design, even for a memorial.

Beautiful peaceful modern natural setting. They take good care of the place, and people almost always follow the quiet rule, so if youre looking or somewhere relaxing, consider wandering the spiral or sitting at one of the benches. Being just a short walk from the Washington Park MAX stop makes access incredibly simple.

I was on a bike ride and rode past this memorial. Im not that big on war memorials, but it looked so beautiful I thought Id take a closer look. Im glad I did. Its a beautifully, thoughtfully designed memorial in a peaceful, contemplative setting. The organizers, designers and other supporters really did a wonderful job with this. The names, stories and history included on each of the monuments that spiral up the hill is so well done. The connection between person, place, daily events and stories back home, and the lost lives that never again returned to these places and events is more than moving. I encourage anyone coming to the park to visit and reflect.

A sobering memorial to Oregonians who died in the Vietnam War. The gently-turning path goes full circle, offering a contemplative garden in which to reflect on each of the lives lost as the war escalated.

This beautiful memorial is located very close to the zoo and train line within Washington Park. The path starts at the bottom and follows a spiral telling a story of Oregon and Vietnam together chronologically in many small stone monuments. The walk is easy for seniors as it gradually spirals up. I have visited here often to get some sun and take in the peaceful but modern setting that is very well designed and maintained. It is also a perfect way to begin a hike starting from the train stop at the zoo and then continuing on the wildwood trail into the hoyt arboretum to the Rose Garden and then down to the salmon train stop as a loop.
