A museum after my own heart Informative but mostly an art collection of cryptids, which was fine with me since I love all things weird.. we spent more time here than others, I noticed. There are some interesting details, some beings I had never heard of before. Like I said, mostly art and collectibles on display but in my opinion, cool art and neat collectibles!

I love this place. Yes its a little small, but there is a lot to read, the displays are put together well and there is a lot to look at. Its a fun and unique experience for the die hard crypto and monster fan. I had a long conversation with the volunteer there whose name escapes me as I write this (I went a few months ago and Im bad with names). She was very interesting to talk to. Also the gift shop is neat. I bought a signed copy of one of Mr. Colemans books. Highly recommended for cryptozoology enthusiasts. I plan on going again with my dad and sis in law.

Disappointed. If they want people to take cryptozoology seriously, make an attempt to be legit. Remove the teenage mutant ninja turtle toys and funko pops out of “real” exhibits for example. Focus areas for each cryptid, explain in detail, make each cryptid special, not thrown together. This place does a disservice for people who think you’ll learn something by coming here. It’s such a great idea and great concept to have museum dedicated to cryptozoology but all you get is repeated info about Bigfoot printed out and slapped on a wall. If you have any reservations about going here, I think it’s something you can skip in my opinion.

We loved it. I have always had a fascination with Cryptids and recently my 9 year old daughter has become interested too because of a Disney show called GRAVITY FALLS. You should direct parents to that show for their children and, to be fair, the show is just as great for adults. I bought the entire series at Wal-Mart for $20, so maybe you could sell that in your shop? Anyway, after leaving your Museum my daughter spent 5 hours googling and reading about the various Cryptids she discovered on our visit.

My experience at the International Cryptozoology Museum was fruitful, informative, and enlightening. These are the things society refuses to talk about! My favorite parts of the museum included cryptid feces replicas, life-size mothman sculptures, and excellent Bigfoot footage. Humans are simply students of the world, and we must listen to what it has to tell us.

I am someone who has purchased a number of versions of the book series, “Weird U.S.,” I visit Atlas Obscura weekly, and, despite being a practical person, I enjoy an odd attraction when going somewhere on vacation or road trips.I had a great deal of interest in an entire museum devoted to Cryptozoology! I eagerly anticipated the number of stories to learn about and gladly dropped $10 to get in.The clerk was knowledgeable and took her job seriously. She provided very precise information and instruction and I made my way inside. It hurts to say, but the museum was quite a bit underwhelming. There was a thin corridor downstairs and an slightly expanded one upstairs. There were a ton of cheesy toys and stuffed animals that stripped the exhibits of a sense of wonder that would be greatly welcomed for a subject that can be pretty jokey most of the time. Here’s to hoping being surrounded by food and drink options gets them enough revenue that they invest in some touches to make it feel scarier, more interesting, and realistic.

Stephen King country is the ideal location for this strange museum. Covering Big Foot, the Jersey Devil, and other folkloric creatures, the museum holds a range of memorabilia, souvenirs, toys, and research materials on all things cryptozoology. The museum has moved location several times, with its premises growing to accommodate its ever-expanding collection. Their website describes it as the world’s only cryptozoology museum, and it’s also noted as a formal collection. It’s open every day except Tuesdays, so if you want to see the Feejee Mermaid, or learn more about the coelacanth, then it’s worth a visit.

3/5 they dont mislead you at all it is what they say it is. Sorry I broke the rule, they said no pictures but I snuck one of big daddy Sasquatch. I understand why they didnt want any pictures taken. Everything in the museum can be appreciated through pictures the same as in person, for $10 less. Thats not to say you wont have an interesting time if youve got the spare $10. They have a bunch of interesting models and large fuzzy dolls. I also snapped a pic of the mermaid, I dont want to post it because its got nips and I dont want to risk Google banning my account from leaving reviews.

Uhm, what is there to say about this place? There are a lot more toys and paraphernalia than actual exhibits - theyre going for quantity over quality here. Would have preferred if they brought out more details and information on their 4 or 5 main exhibits (because they ARE interesting) and lowered their admission price to $7-8. For $10/head, its just not worthy of the museum moniker. As it stands, it feels more like youre paying $10 to see some guys collection that his wife wanted out of the house. It also reminds me of Grunkle Stans Mystery Shack on Gravity Falls.

This place is half dedicated to Bigfoot and for Bigfoot lovers. There are also sections to inform viewers that there are many other species that until the last 100 years were also myths, like the duck-billed platypus. The first floor pays tribute to these creatures as well as many other creatures deemed made up, like gremlins, the chupacabra and the jersey devil. The also have the skin of Wessie, a giant snake that escaped captivity in Westbrook. The second floor is mainly dedicated to the search for Bigfoot. The whole museum takes about 30 minutes to look around. Unfortunately the cost might be steep for the short period it takes to go through the museum. Also some of the parking spaces are limited to a minimum of $5.00 to park.

Not at all worth it. $10 for an incredibly small museum, even trying to get my moneys worth I was only there for 20-30 minutes and could have easily left in 10. It is less of a museum than a hoarders closet, with a mix of actual interesting things and absolute junk like old happy meal toys all presented together with very little organization or context. Many of the items dont even seem to be related to the subject, including taxidermied regular animals and, most confusingly, a couple of framed pamphlets about adoption. If they took out 75% of the items and added a lot more information on what things are and what they are supposed to mean it would be much more interesting and informative.

This place was kind of fun, but unfortunately not worth the trip. What started as an exciting idea for a saturday afternoon, ended up feeling rushed and uninspired. The idea of the museum is great, but the execution left a lot to be desired. I honestly didnt think Id be posting a review for it, but I am because I felt that my friend and I were singled out and were unable to enjoy our time because of it.1 of the 2 ladies that was working the front desk ended up following my friend and I around, quite obviously, the entire 20 minutes we were there. It made us feel uncomfortable, and like they didnt trust us. Its very disheartening to go into a venue with high expectations, just to be treated like a criminal the entire time. There are more museums in the area that deserve the patronage a lot more than this one, unfortunately.

While slightly overpriced in my opinion, this place is worth a stop if you’re into cryptids and folklore. It’s not big, and you have to walk through a pizza place to get to it, but there are lots of displays with different artifacts pertaining to different cryptids like mothman, bigfoot, and others. If you go in accepting this to be basically someone’s hobby and a random collection of mildly interesting stuff, you won’t be too disappointed.

This was a really fun place to stop and learn about different cryptid stories. The history was fun and well detailed when youd read the plaques. There were plenty of displays and diagrams. They do have a few incidences in history also mentioned that Id never heard of. Interesting, not a huge area. Can drive to it and park in a pay & display. One hour will do it, lots of stuffed animals & the life size yeti is cool. Look out for the poo display. Go real slow and look at everything, if you blink you will miss it. Nothing new, have seen most of it on discovery channel. Disappointing for young kids as apart from the poo display not much else to hold their attention. Maybe a colouring in area for kids could be a cool addition.

Pretty disappointed in this place. We thought it would be pretty cool to check out, but the majority of the things on display are things you can buy on Amazon (legos, plushies, stuffed animals, bar signs). The information on display was vague, and more so just signs and picture posters. It was really tiny for an international museum. You walk thru the door to a small restaurant, and down a long hallway you reach the entrance. You cant take pictures inside, and security cameras scatter the museum. It has a small hallway of miscellaneous stuff on the first floor, and the second floor only goes the length of the small strip of building they have. They talk a lot of game but honestly outside of seeing some poop and bigfoot foot castings the place was a real bummer to experience. Not really worth the $20 for two adults.

Had a fun visit to the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland. We took the Amtrak Downeaster from Dover NH to Portland. The museum is on Thompsons Point, within sight of the train station; an easy walk. The museum spans the width of a large building, so there are entrances on each side - the side nearest the train station opens directly into their lobby, the other entrance is through a restaurant (but they dont mind). It is a quirky place and you should approach it with an open mind and a sense of humor. These are static displays, well organized, so little kids may not get much out of it; but it is fascinating for grownups. We spent about 90 minutes there. Second floor does not appear to be handicap accessible. Spacious restrooms (with showers even!). Lunch hint: From the train station, walk down Sewall St. to Ananias at 1227 Congress Street for Italians. Then we caught the next train home. Great day!

The “museum” is two rooms of collectibles—-more cryptid action figures than actual information about them. It was all neat to see and I learned of a few I didn’t know about, (Like the Dover Demon) but I’m not sure if you could call it a museum. I do appreciate that they spent time on things that have been discovered, debunked in addition to ones that we still don’t know about.
