This little museum in Manhattan is a must for anyone interested in heritage! It was a refreshing change to the major museums. As a heritage manager it was fantastic to see.

A wonderful historic place hidden in NYC. Tours a must, very relaxed, informative and accommodating to your interest level. Will return in the Spring to see the garden.

Well worth a visit - they offer personalized tours of the Museum (which was a day hotel in the 1800s for the middle class in NYC). David was very knowledgeable and had lots of great, fun anecdotes! Highly recommend!

Great historic building by the East River?

Its like a time warp taking you back 200 years. Who knew this delightful museum was here?

A hidden Upper East Side of New York gem that gives a glimpse of what the area was like in the late 17th and early 18th Centuries. Its open all year. They hold seasonal events too and every tour guide gives their own point of view on the houses history. Admission is only 8 bucks for adults. Tours take about an hour. Well worth it.

Great murder mystery event in October.

Interesting home and a bit of an oddity in NYC but staff seemed a bit misinformed/ couldnt answer a lot of questions about the home and the time period

Delightful and lush garden around this historic property! Also, really fun programming for all ages and backgrounds. Great spot you wouldnt expect to find by the bridge!

I can appreciate a historic site but maybe 19th Century houses and hotels are not really my thing. It was a bit small so looking through everything was pretty quick. It was interesting to see how life was back in the day and my favorite was the game room but I wasnt particularly impressed with the plastic props used throughout the rest of the house, like the food in the kitchen. It made it a bit cheesy in my opinion. The staff was very knowledgeable though and was not pushy about offering information and answering questions if we had them.

Historic house that was owned by Abigail Adams family. Period rooms, furniture and other accessories on exhibit, and a small yard/garden. Any historic house in New York is a great resource, especially because of the slash and burn building occurring everywhere. That something 200 years old was preserved, maintained, and open to the public is worth 5 stars, but since this is carefully preserved by people interested in New York and American history is even better.

DEFINITELY a Great place to explore a small part of New Yorks History.

Beautiful place!

Structure itself is amazing. Furniture and many aspects of the interior are not original to the building but rather of the period. This is a place that is good for learning about the life and times of the Mount Vernon Hotel as a hotel, rather than about the structure and building itself. The mandatory video and guided tour didnt help. Walk by and marvel, no need to go in.

Constructed in 1799 as a carriage house and turned into the Mount Vernon Hotel in 1826, this stone building sits on land originally owned by Colonel William Stephens Smith, and his wife Abigail Adams Smith - the daughter of John Adams.There are event offerings throughout the year. I attended a murder-mystery event at the Mount Vernon Hotel Museum last week and had a great time. I would very much come back for another event, possibly for one of the summer concerts.

Little quaint museum in the heart of the east side, revolutionary period day hotel.

The Murdee Mystery event I attended here was well organized and the Museum is well kept.

Nice little museum about the new york of 200 years ago. id rank it third after the merchants house and the dyckman farmhouse.
