This hotel is the best. It is very peaceful plus staff is openly helpful and very sportive. My stay has been truly peaceful and have been recuperating from my physical issues resting comfortably with staff constant checkups. Thank you staff for having patient and understanding.

The information on this website is misleading. No toiletries, fridge available upon request, no towels. Found 2 small roaches in the room. Central heating is noisy as hell, and gets way too warm, aircon didnt work. I could smell weed on the hallway. Reception personal was unfriendly. The only positive I can think of is the cleaning staff. Other than that, an airbnb would be a better choice.

Watch out for the YMCA. Its costly, and they have terrible cancellation policies. For example, I received an automatic renewal notice that said Id have to submit my cancellation request in writing 15 days before the draw date. The letter was dated only 9 days before the draw date. Great news, though--I can continue to work out for 40 more days because I cant really cancel until the following month. That would be great if the childcare was any good at all, but its just not. Half the time I show up when it opens and its already filled to capacity.

I was vacationing and seen they had decent priced rooms close to a area i could easy to n from while i was here. When i went to check in which was very late due to my flight i was told i couldn’t be checked in and i wouldn’t be able to stay on the property. They were very rude about it even before they realize i was getting i room i asked for a bathroom n i was told they were closed .. but yeah i am not from here so being out by myself as a woman tourist in the middle of NEW YORK AT 1 in the morning isn’t the brightest idea. So yeah wouldn’t recommend for tourist.

Room was freezing (no temperature control), no wifi in room, wifi in coridors totally insecure, shower rooms three floors up(not on same floor), no hot water in shower room, cockroach in room, and totally rude staff.. just horrible experience. I had interview next day.. and I didnt let this affect me. Just somehow dealt with this nightmare. Never again!

I booked and paid our 2 night stay weeks in advance and when we arrived we were told we did not have a room. After 20 minutes of explaining we had paid, the front desk was able to give us a 1 room with a twin bed for two people when we had actually paid for a bunk bed. This experience was disappointing.

Ghetto Black Girl at the check In was so unprofessional and not so smart. I booked and paid for my stay with hotels.com. All she was suppose to do was charge me the 20 fee. This idiot charges me twice for the room. And then when I went to confront her about it she gets an attitude like the typical black woman. It’s sad how terrible they are in customer service towards other black people for no reason. Room didn’t have a working A.CThey lied about the WiFi. There is no WiFi No cable tv like they promised No refrigerator like they promised They place is just one big lie.

The hotel was OK. It was cheap, by the metro, and I also liked how it has saunas. Although the AC in our room barely worked and it was difficult just trying to sleep. The area was okay, a few blocks away from Central Park. Although there’s a lot of black people in this area that stare at you for being white or a tourist. Just know your street smarts, don’t talk to shady people and you’ll be fine. Would recommend for people that plan on staying a week, on a budget. Just know it’s very basic and minimal.

I wasnt expecting much as this is the Y and I was looking to stay in Manhattan on the cheap. All we needed was a place to stow our gear and lay our heads for a few hours at night. The Y provided these things. I would say that the place was safe and pretty clean. We stayed in two different rooms during our two days here. Here are the cons: Beds are not comfortable, cheap summer camp type bunk beds wrapped in plastic; one pillow, AC units in the rooms either do a poor job or simply do not work. Hotel staff is not present between 11:00pm and 9:00am. This means check in might be a problem if you plan on showing up late at night and check out can be a problem early in the morning. Shared bathrooms are clean but you have to check the hot water out. The shower in one of the bathrooms only put out cold water. If you require TV you might be disappointed; one of the rooms we stayed the TV was just static. The staff was friendly enough but its clear that they are not professional hospitality workers. Rooms are pretty small, the two of us were really in each others way when trying to pack and change clothes. This is not in any way to be considered a nice place to stay. It is lodging at the most basic.Pros: Two beds on Manhattan for around 100 bucks. Rooms are secure. You may leave your bags in a secure area until 11:00pm for free. No expectation of tips from anyone. The neighborhood seemed safe considering the reputation Harlem has.Bottom line, cheap utility.

I have stayed at the y, believe it or not, almost every week for the past two years and have booked many of these rez with Expedia. While all other stays have been acceptable, this past booking was the worst due to the very poor room: no TV, no table or chair, no fridge, motion sensor malfunction, noisy floor, no privacy gang bathrooms, dirty towel in room, no ability to change room when requested, fire drill at 5:50am.

Do not stay here!! No power in the electrical outlets + no one at the front desk. When I arrived around 10:20pm on a Friday, I waited at the front desk for 20 minutes but no one showed up. I went to the security guard and she said that the front-desk employee would still be on break for another 15min. What?!Also, there was no power in the electrical outlets in my room! Either night! Unbelievable. And, I was going to a Saturday all-day event and so went out at 7:40am and the front desk was closed, so I was unable to tell anyone. Thats not that early, so theres really no excuse for the desk to be closed then.Additionally, if you like to satisfy the human desire of thirst, too bad. They offered no options for drinking water. I went down to the front desk and asked where I could find a cup for tap water and they told me Id have to go to the corner store to buy a cup. Are you kidding me?!

The private rooms in this guest house were tiny, massively overpriced, dirty and not catered for properly. The beds had a protective layer on them but also hadnt been unwrapped, resulting in a sweaty uncomfortable night with 2 sheets of plastic catching all the moisture and rubbing together noisilyRoom had no coathangers, upon requesting them we were told we were lying when we said we didnt have anyPillows are 1 cm thick. Horrible staff! Please if someone knows the CEO or top head person of the YMCA on 135th street please give me his or her direct contact number. It would be greatly appreciated. Specifically, front desk workers and aquatic director and head manager for that place on 135th street are not friendly and very mean looking in the face. Their entire misdemeanor and presence were horrible. They don’t know how to talk to people and very belittling and degrading! This place needs new and better front desk people, aquatic director, and head manager. I think it will make a total difference. Zero stars!!!! Smh

The location is okay not the best of locations, but not super bad. The hotel is located close to Subway trains 2,3 just a block away, making transportation to most places in New York City between 20-45 minutes. The staff is very friendly and kind. Let me start by saying the staff were super friendly and I have no complaints about them whatsoever. However, this is by far the worst accommodation we have stayed in. I didnt want to spend much money to sleep for a few hours and go out visiting NYC so opted for a place I could sleep, have a shower and go out. The staff were super amazing and nice. Yes the room was tiny, the tv was old, and the bed was small but it did the job and was a 1/4 the cost of staying in a hotel. The washrooms are shared but you get the washroom to yourself and can shower and change and it has locks. Very close to the subway.

...except not as clean and with one toilet and one shower for an entire floor of women. It wasnt easy having to hustle to the elevator in the middle of the night to use the bathroom because some girl was tying up the ONE bathroom on my floor seemingly endlessly. Having a females bathroom the size of a closet for an entire floor is ridiculous, especially when the mens restroom looked to accommodate more than one person at a time. I believe I paid about $80 a night, which seems a little outrageous considering Ive paid less than $20 a night at a hostel in Europe that was cleaner and with better facilities.
