The new Amsterdam theater is a gorgeous theater. I’ve been there many times over the years for different kinds of shows. Usually family friendly shows you can take people from out of town. The last time I went they had the Aladdin musical which was so fun. I enjoyed myself more than any other time.

First broadway show in NYC and we weren’t disappointed. We sat at row N in the Center and the tickets were great (and affordable). Spirited performances by all and Genie stole the show as usual. Aladdin was definitely on point and sounded great. Jasmine was excellent also but slightly behind on the dancing (Still great nonetheless). If you’re looking to be entertained, definitely watch this adaptation of the classic.

We watched the Aladdin Broadway musical here Saturday afternoon. The theatre is very easy to recognize on the outside and is conveniently located on 42nd street, right around the corner from the 7 train. Inside, the theater itself is well laid out with wide halls and staircases for ample movement throughout the theatre even large crowds of people. We were seated at row M in the center orchestra, which was close enough to take in the entire view of the stage comfortably. The seats were also comfortable. The bathrooms were also large enough to accommodate large number of people even at intermission. The show performance itself was great and the colorful sets/transitions were done masterfully.

Its a really beautiful teather, we enjoyed Aladdin play, the space is great., highly recommend to buy tickets in Mezzanine, you will be able to see everything from there, the scenario, the lights, the effects! If you go a floor up, you might struggle and a floor down you might not see all the details of the play!Regarding Aladdin, great actors with beautiful voices, we loved the Genie role! He was playful and funny! We loved the engineering of the scenario to make us feel as real magic movements all over!Overall, you will enjoy it!

This is an old ornate theater. Beautiful to look at. Not too comfortable to sit in. The rows are narrow. The bathrooms are downstairs. No elevator so if you have bad legs, good luck. If the play isnt too long, it is beatable to sit there. There are more comfortable theaters. One thing, the acoustics are actually great.

Went to go see Aladdin yesterday. It was AMAZING! Even if you arent in the front row, it is still nice because you can hear and see clearly either way. The tickets were expensive, but it was worth it. The only problem was the snacks. The line was long, but the main problem was the price! Five dollars for a small bag of popcorn? NINE DOLLARS for a cup of coke? Four dollars for a refill??? Outstanding, but its just because Im from New Jersey. But the overall show was AMAZING! Shining lights, beautiful view, so many good things! But I recommend, if you want to buy something there, and you havent ate, bring at least $20 to get yourself a decent snack. Overall, amazing experience!

I had watched the Aladin musical tour in Houston, so I was so excited to attend the broadway show. We were seated for the front seat (row A) for less than $120 per person. Aladdin was an amazing play. The characters are really good at acting. I would advise heading towards the restrooms before the curtains close for act 1. The snack lines get long but they will go by fast. I thought this was an amazing play and the theater is nice and big. And if you have children, they have free booster seats so they can see above people.

I cant remember if Ive been to this theater before but I just saw Aladdin and wanted to comment on my experience.First of all, the staff is top-notch, super friendly, and helpful. Box office, ushers, concessions... everyone was very nice.My bus arrived after the box office opened today so I was out of luck for rush tickets but decided to try to get standing room tickets at all the main shows anyway. I struck out for almost an hour until I got to this theater. The box office lady told me that New Amsterdam does not have a standing room section but that I could get an obstructed view seat for $67. I had just walked around in the snow for 45 min looking for tickets so this seemed like a good deal to me.I got Box 6 on the third balcony. There is a single seat in this section. Facing the stage this is on the right side. The stage is numbered with zero being the center and then counting by two out towards the left and right to 18. Obstructed in this case meant I could see all of the left side (0-18) but only 0-10 on the right side. I also could not see the area further back on the stage. For Aladdin, it seemed like a lot of things happened on the right that I could not see so that is unfortunate. I am familiar with the movie, though, so I knew exactly what was happening... But, it definitely isnt ideal and takes away from the experience. See my photo.. depending on your situation you may want to spend more for a better view.

The show we saw was great. However, getting around this theatre takes patience and grace. I suggest you try not to use the restrooms during intermission unless you are close to them and can quickly get in line. Otherwise you will not make it back to your seat. Like most theaters this age, the seats are small, crowded, and uncomfortable. However, when the show is great it passes quickly. My other problem is the ushers were there at the beginning of the show and end. I couldnt locate any during the show. The women behind us talked constantly. I finally had to ask them to stop. One told me I wasnt her momma, and we could take it outside. I didnt respond and they all were appropriate after that. The architecture is beautiful. The staff was friendly and professional. They tried their best to keep lines moving and aisles open.We visited the concession and gift area when we first arrived. There was only one other person in line. At intermission, you could hardly move around in this area.

The theatre was beautifully decorated and the show was great but those seats are ridiculously small. Regardless to how big or small you are height also affects your comfort. Anyone close to 6feet or bigger will have their knees on the back of your head. Anyone bigger than a toothpick will be shoulder to shoulder next to their neighbors or like my friends and I half of my upper body on top of yours. The seating was so uncomfortable I could hardly enjoy the show. I know most venues like these have such old school seating but my goodness its time to remodel so people paying these high ticket prices can enjoy both the venue and the the show. Sitting like that for over 2 hrs can be stressful and not ideal. The staff were great and very accommodating, but I could not say I enjoyed what should have been a memorable Birthday.

The theater is very beautiful with wonderful reliefs of famous plays in the lobby entrance. The stage and ceiling are masterfully ornate. Theaters like this are not constructed anymore. I found that much of the lighting and sound detracted from the turn of the century architecture.
