What a fascinating show it was to see the Blue Man Group. The theatre is not too large but quite cosy. We had front row seats, which was quite an interesting experience. We had to wear rain coats to avoid being drenched with the water and the color that is splashed around. We enjoyed meeting the group after the performance, which was quite interesting.

Having seen Blue Man Group in London and Las Vegas, it is fair to say that I actually enjoy the show. I enjoyed it so much that I went along a third time to see it in New York as my boyfriend was quite eager to see it after all my raving about it. However out of all three, the New York show was definitely the worst. We were both so disappointed. The music wasnt quite as good as the other two and the venue is awful, it is much too small for Blue Man Group. The finale (Ill not spoil it!) isnt half as good in such a small theatre... Not to mention the tickets were almost double what I paid in the other two cities. I would recommend Blue Man Group to everyone... just not the one in New York.

I give Blue Man Group New York, located at 434 Lafayette St #1, New York, NY 10003 FIVE stars. This show is well worth buying tickets to watch. The show is funny and with spectacular lighting effects. The live music this show plays adds more to the enjoyment this production offers.

Rock concert movement #37, reviewing Blue Man Group at the Astor Place Theater, Ready.. Go!Blue Man Group is simply fabulous! I have seen their show in London, Roanoke, Orlando and Las Vegas and this is the original theater where it all started. The theater is the smallest they perform in, but the view is great regardless where you sit.The show is kind of a variety show of sorts, yet its hard to describe. I would go along to witness it - you will not regret it!When I attended the show at this theater, my name ended up on the ticker and ball accounts I was responsible for discovering the human genome!

Really great to see the Blue Man Group in their original location. Super small theater which makes the show really intimate. It can be loud, with strob lights and there are some slower parts, especially for young children. Because of this I wouldnt recommend anyone under the age of 8 or 9.

Wow. What a show. Pony up and sit in the splash zone. I’ve seen this show from front row mezzanine and front row center. The Blue Men bring it every time. My son and I are big fans and we ended up being gifted a painting from the show. Great family fun!

I have been a live theatre and concert lover In NYC for 40 years. This was literally the worst show I’ve ever seen. Took my Kids ages 13, 11 and 9. We all hated it. Deafeningly Loud, unfunny, uncreative, blinding strobe lights. Seems as if this show was once cutting edge in the 90’s. Lackluster at best. The men aren’t funny, or engaging. They’re just puzzling. Save your money and 90 minutes.

LOVED IT! anyone who likes to have some type of fun is going to enjoy this show. It is funny entertaining for everyone in the family. With such a small venue I feel like everyone has a great view of the action and you become a park of it when the blue dudes come climbing up the walls. I would recommend this show to anyone and I would go again!

Once again, my daughter and I headed into manhattan for another day of discovering new things. We both decided on The Blue Man Group. Aside from the fact, that we were selected to be part of the live show, we had an amazing time. We both laughed and smiled the entire time. There is so much going on with not a word spoken. This really is fun for any age.

My second time coming but you can still enjoy it. Good times. They did change up a few things which was good. Very interactive with the audience which is refreshing. Very small theater so your close to action wherever you sit. The first couple of rows are provided ponchos due to being in a splash zone. They did come out and take photos with the guests after the show which was a nice touch.

We had the chance to visit the Blue Man group with a few friends purely based on word of mouth. Having been to a ton of Off Broadway musicals and other similar shows in NY, I think this show is a bit outdated. For anyone who hasnt been to Blue Man before, its about 3 central characters [whore painted in Blue] and try to create a bunch of interesting audio-visual experiences using various props [including technology at times]We could barely relate to the numerous props used during the show. What was more disappointing was the fact that the show never really managed to make much sense and rather seemed like an abstract sequence of multiple acts that had no co-relation with each other. Fairly pricey as well. Probably a fun time for kids below 5 years of age but certainly not for a group of adults trying to find something funny and interesting.Im sorry but Id give the Astor Place performance a miss for sure

Considering the shows been on since the late 80s, it still feels fresh and relevant. The theatre is intimate which suits the style of performance. The cast are well practiced and impeccably blue.At points it felt like a really family friendly, non aggressive acid trip. Which is great for anyone interested in trying acid without a 12 hour commitment. After the show you get to meet the musicians and the blue men.The blue men dont speak. But selfie ops are welcome in 2019.

My boyfriend surprised me with Blue Man tickets for my birthday, but didn’t tell me where we were going until we were a block away. Yet, he had me pick out his outside consisting of a white shirt and suede shoes. HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend the poncho section where you get food and fruit thrown all over you, but make sure you everyone knows that they are dressing for.

Sat on the upper mezzanine area for cheaper tickets. Glad I did because show was barely worth the ~$45. The people who bought front row seats and had to wear ponchos came out completely dry and the ponchos were unnecessary. The show is definitely geared toward kids. Cheesy jokes and childish humor. Thats not always a bad thing but it was overdone and I expected more from blue man group. Alot less playing music with paint then expected. There were akward intermissions between the acts that didnt flow well with the show. There were cool parts but not enough to justify the cost. Overall it wasnt a waste but I wouldnt recommend unless you have kids younger than teenagers.

Lets start by saying that I been wanting to watch this show for 8 years so the expectation was very high. The stage and the whole theater are pretty small and I sat all the way in the back and the pipes on the ceiling of the theater would not let me watch some of the show. The acompaning music was overtaking the live performance. Other that that the concept is nice the acts have a touch of funny, weird and innocent and when the lights go out you know you are in for a treat. The beggining and the end are the most fun parts for sure. Definitely book your tickets in advance and get some seats in the front.

This show is interactive and fun for sure, but it is kinda limited in the actual instrumental performance. The interaction with the audience is great and the group is charismatic, just wish there was more of a musical element to it.

Summary: Disappointing overall for adults. Occasional creativity and impressive visual effects outweighed by overused slapstick humor, gross childish humor, sluggish pace, and awkward audience interactions.Details: I went to the show with high expectations after seeing Blue Man Group in Portland, Oregon 8 years ago, which I thought was excellent. Many of the same aspects in Portland that I liked were still present in NYC--the bright paint with percussion, Drumbone performance, neon band, etc. But almost everything seemed lackluster. The sound quality was only okay. The artificial fog that we were warned about in NYC (and that I saw in Portland) never appeared. The strobe lights were painful, rather than exciting. And the jokes seemed to drag on forever. The novelty of the Blue Men wandering out onto the audience chairs would have been funny if only for 30 seconds, but after several minutes I was thoroughly bored. In addition, many of the jokes seemed to be unnecessarily gross. Im in the medical field and am not particularly bothered by references to the human body, but it felt as though the Blue Men were stuck in the oral phase of human development--everything needed to go inside their mouths and be spat out again. Funny the first time, not so much repeated over and over. Maybe it was my seat in the nosebleed section in Portland, but I dont remember ever being grossed or bored.I left with the impression that the show had found that children were its most enthusiastic supporters, and that the bar of humor and effects had since been oriented primarily towards that age group, and that age group only.

Amazing! Didnt really know what to expect other than from what I saw on the poster. Its funny, unique and incredibly clever. Tough to explain without spoiling certain parts - there really isnt anything else like it that you could compare it to! Far from your typical Broadway show, its not a musical (not to say it doesnt contain music) so if typical shows normally dont appeal to you then this certainly will. A small, intimate theatre with lots of good seats. I was sat row HH and had a perfect view of everything. Brilliant fun for all the family, an off-Broadway show that you must go see!

I dont understand how in 2018 this show is still popular enough to have such a larger advertising budget that plasters print all over Port Authority. A friend gave me and my other friend free tickets and we were still disappointed when we went in October. The Rockettes have cheaper tickets and youre more wowed and impressed. There are so many incredible shows in NYC and globally and this doesnt come close so Im not understanding the justification of the ticket prices or reviews.

I wish I had read the negative reviews more carefully before I spent 200 dollars on this. It was honestly the worst show I have ever been to in my life. Absolutely not funny, no artistic talent and just juvenile humour. There was nothing about this show that makes it worth going to. The fact that they don’t respond to negative feedback is also very telling. I tried to speak to someone on the night who literally didn’t care. It may appeal to some people but personally feel totally robbed. A waste of time and money on New Year’s Eve when there are so many other far better things to see and do. I urge you not to go to this so that they start to listen and make something which demonstrates talent rather than producing this which is frankly just shockingly bad from start to finish.

When visiting NYC this was the only show we decided to see. I saw the Blue Man Group around 20 years ago and it was fantastic. My 13 year old son was so looking forward to this one event that I had planned (because I hyped it up how great an experience it was).About 15 minutes in my son said This is so juvenile - can we leave? I told him to hold on and that it may get better. It got worse. The humor was horrible and the miming timing off. Our son left first to wait in the waiting room and we joined him soon after. We left half-way through the show because it was so bad.Our son actually cried he was so disappointed! It was the one event we decided to spend our entertainment dollars on - what a waste!I would not recommend NYC Blue Men Group to anybody ... no one should have to sit through this amateurish spectacle.

I give the show itself 5 stars, but I seriously think they should consider enforcing a minimum age for the show, at least at evening performances, or run a little kid-friendly matinee once in a while or something. We were in the Mezzanine at the recent 5/28 8 PM show on a special occasion trip to new york with our 12 and 15 yo, and had people with kids who could not have been more than 4 yo behind and in front of us, and the kids were super distracting to the point of somewhat ruining our experience - bouncing around, shouting out, reaching out, and it honestly made it hard for everyone to enjoy the show. This is not a $10 kiddie theatre performance - people think of the other people around you and keep the little kids at HOME!

After purchasing tickets for my boyfriends birthday I was super excited to see BMG on 11/3/18. As soon as we sit down it was laughter and great music. We were enjoying every bit of it until the fire alarms begin to go off and we were told to exit the building. As confused as everyone was so were we, didn’t know if it was part of the act or what until a staff member tells us in a stern voice this is not a joke please evacuate. So we did and weren’t let back in. I call 2 days later to see if some kind of compensation would be done since we didn’t get to see the full show, a claim was put in and I was told I would be contacted in 7 days. Nope. Didn’t happen. I call back and was told my claim was denied because “there was only 8 min left of the show”!!!! How inconsiderate and unprofessional!! If we’re to be $8 or 8 cents short those tickets would not have been sold to me! I spent almost $200 on tickets and expected a full show! Highly upset I put in another claim and again no return call no email so I call a third time and again it was denied. I was so disappointed with the customer service and expected so much more from BMG.
