Normally, I love to attend opera productions in the Metropolitan Opera House. But when I saw that War Horse was going to be staged at the Lincoln Center while I was in New York, I jumped with joy, bought a ticket, and was glad I did. When I was an elementary school teacher, my classes loved to read the original young persons novel of the same name. It was amazing how the novel could come to life in an alternative point-of-view. The theater was an outstanding venue for this production. I cant wait to come back for another show.

I visit here often. The outdoor areas are beautiful and a perfect oasis. The theaters are decadent. Productions at the Vivian Beaumont are lavish and spare no expense. Ive had the honor to see both The King and I and My Fair Lady here so far.

Madama Butterfly was my first Opera. This was also my first time to the Lincoln Center and it was an unforgettable experience.Black Voices at The Met was my special and particular favourite, showing the history of black artistes at the institution. The chandelier too was exquisite and the fountain on the outside a beautiful finishing touch.

Not to be confused with the president or the car, the Lincoln center theater is definitely neither of those things. You can sit down and watch a show or performance, but the Lincoln center theater won’t end the civil war or come in all wheel drive.

Perfect place to catch a show. Away from the bustle of times square and plenty of eats around within walking distance. Theres parking below so no need to worry about a garage. And its SELF PARK, perfect for people like me who wont trust a valet driver.

The organization observes Lincoln Center founder John D. Rockefeller 3rds mandate that the arts are not for the privileged few, but for the many. Guided by the motto, Good Plays, Popular Prices, Lincoln Center Theater makes every effort to keep admission prices low and its doors open to all. And, an innovative Membership program allows 30,000 participants to see any LCT production at the Beaumont, Newhouse and on Broadway for just $42 to $62 per ticket from the best seats available.Lincoln Center Theater was re-established in 1985 under the leadership of Chairman John V. Lindsay, Director Gregory Mosher and Executive Producer Bernard Gersten, and was named the pre-eminent theater in the country by The New York Times. Today, under the leadership of Chairman J. Tomilson Hill and Producing Artistic Director André Bishop, the organization produces dozens of plays and musicals, seen by millions of audience members at the Vivian Beaumont Theater, the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater, the Claire Tow Theater, and other venues.Lincoln Center Theater also distributes thousands of free tickets each year to culturally under-served populations throughout the five boroughs and regularly offers special performances for the hearing impaired. Other ongoing activities include the Directors Lab, a developmental symposium for new and emerging artists; Open Stages, an arts-in-education program operated in cooperation with New York City public schools; Lincoln Center Theater Review, a literary journal available in the Theaters lobbies and distributed free-of-charge to schools and libraries, and the Platform Series of free conversations with LCT artists. In June 2012, LCT opened a new 2-story addition on the roof of the Vivian Beaumont Theater. This addition includes the Claire Tow Theater, rehearsal rooms, office space and a roof terrace. It is the permanent home of LCT3, our programming initiative devoted to producing the work of new playwrights, directors and designers. Through fully staged productions and affordable tickets, LCT3 is bringing a new generation of artists and audiences to LCT. In addition, through tours, telecasts, films, publications, recordings and this website, the organization reaches audiences across the nation and around the world.

There are no bad seats in this theater. A word of warning: there is no handicapped access to the loge and most seats in the orchestra require you to use steps to access them. That being said, the staff was very accommodating when we realized this after purchasing our tickets online from the box office. There was no mention of this on the website. They placed us in very adequate seats in the upper orchestra section that did not involve steps. We thoroughly enjoyed the performance!

The theatre has an interesting configuration, and our seats in the first row of the balcony have a great view, even though we were as far stage left as you could go. We saw Oslo which was funny & as fast paced as a political retrospective can be. They dont let you bring drinks inside the theatre.

Lincoln center is designed to make you feel surrendered by art. The large open space in front, the glass shield wall and the expulsion of lights and thier reflection introduces the incoming visitors to luxurious space, full of modern exhibitions of action and melody, standing in between the columns in front opening spanning a long distance, makes the bystanders feel the aswomness of this place, and waterfronts and the fountains even in the cold of winter makes the air so fresh. You can enjoy the interior spaces even more, theres a lot to see.

How can anyone not love the Lincoln Center?!?! A tourist should never miss it but sadly not everyone is into the performing arts. Give one of their shows a try before you say no...I wish its close to me, would love to simply hang out around its premises. Grounds are extremely well maintained and not ultra busy. Tip: buy tkts at the box office to save some fees.

The Lincoln Center is beautiful and much larger than we remembered. We asked two lovely gentlemen (who happen to be Opera singers with the Met !) for directions to the “My Fair Lady” box office and they directed us to the Theater on the right side of the building. We walked up to the box office and were offered half price tickets for the 8 o’clock show. Such a treat as we were prepared to pay full price for less expensive seats rather than waiting in the ridiculously long-line in Time Square. We had some of the best seats in the house in our opinion and thoroughly enjoyed the production! Be sure to preorder you drinks for intermission and you won’t have to wait in the long refreshment line. The bathroom lines were the real shock. They need another ladies’ room in that theater. I think every woman in the building was in that line during intermission and after the show! After we bought our tickets, We went in the Lincoln Center Prelude Cafe and Bar for a bite to eat before the show. We had a very satisfying grilled cheese with the best butternut squash soup we have ever tasted!

Review №74

The venues are well kept and the theater staff is uniformly courteous and helpful. The productions are generally well done and often wonderful. However the management seems entirely unconcerned about customer responsiveness and service. I have been a subscribing member of Lincoln Center Theater for perhaps 20 years and of late have had numerous problems with purchasing member tickets through their on-line systems. I have called - and no one picks up; I have written emails and no one responds; I have written letters to management and gotten no reaction; I have spoken to clerical staff who promised to have a person on the membership staff get back to me - and gotten no call back. I have had no responses at all; no effort has been made to respond to my concerns. In the mean time I have missed a number of productions due to these problems - making the actual cost of tickets for productions viewed significantly higher than should be the case for members. That sort of insouciance toward members is untenable in my book and reflects very poorly on Lincoln Center Theater.
