The service was outstanding; our waiter was attentive and friendly. His recommendations were spot on. Everything we ordered was excellent, right down to the fruity rum punch drinks. The atmosphere is relaxed, and it would be an enjoyable place for both a casual and dressy occasion. The jazz club in the back is intimate and upbeat (no pun intended), but its a little chilly and the metal chairs arent too comfortable. The music quickly makes you forget about that, though, as well as the waitress who frequently checks in to see if you need another drink.

Quaint venue. It was out first time going so we did have dinner here. We only came for the jazz. The music was excellent and drink service was great. It is a small venue so you will be quite cozy with your neighbor. My only complaint would be that the metal chairs are not very comfortable but oh well. We will definitely go back.

I have been coming to this place since I was a kid. Great hamburgers and baked potatoes. The monsoon is an awesome drink. It is as potent as it sounds. This has been my favorite spots to visit every time I come back home to New Orleans. The music here is exceptional. I love to hear Leah Chase. Awesome Charmaine Neville puts on an impressive show. You cannot get a better musical bargain for your buck in the world if you tried.

Snug Harbor is the absolute best venue in New Orleans for live jazz. Its not fancy and sometimes youre really packed in there but it is an intimate venue with great acoustics and they have the best talent in town. Often another well known musician is invited to the stage for a song or two. The audience is serious about music and actually is quiet and listens--a rare thing in New Orleans. This place in on par with Iridium in Manhattan, just smaller. If you love jazz, you must visit Snug Harbor.

In a party of 4 we opted to have dinner before attending a tucked away musical treat. The food is really good. Each person had a different entre and walked away happy. I thought the hushpuppies were dry but everything else got a hearty thumbs up. The show carried an additional $15. charge. It was not as expected (we thought it would be traditional jazz) and it was entertaining but we would recommend. Just prefer jazz in a speak easy setting.

Wow, what a venue! What a show. We were spoiled by some wicked tunes with Stanton Moore at Drums and James Singleton at acoustic bass. These guys tore it up with the help from a pianist. If you are in New Orleans make sure you lock up some time here as it will fast become your favorite. I can’t wait to get back!

I wanted to like this place as I brought my friends here. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. The calamari was so rubbery, I dont think I have ever sent anything back before but it was inedible. Had a dinner on Sat 18-Jan for the first time at this place. Initially I booked the table for 10pm for 4 people including a wheelchair user and changed to 10:30. The guy on the phone could not find my Initial booking but said “it would not be a problem to change the time if the table was booked”. So, I was very keen to double-check it upon arrival. (It took a bit of effort to get there through very busy Sat evening streets. I did not want to disappoint 3 friends). As the receptionist was not at the desk, I looked into the bistro from by the entrance area to find someone to ask. I said hello with a smile to a waitress. I was not trying to take a table. She (a caucasian lady with a pony tail and a pair of glasses) came very angrily towards me and shouted ”You have to be seated! BACK OFF!!!”. I was so socked and stepped back out of the entrance. She then put the rope over the entrance to block me out. By this time the receptionist was back at the desk. The waitress then shouted to the receptionist “this is a problem!!!”. Obviously she was frustrated with customers who were trying to take tables without being seated and hailed her frustration to me as well as the receptionist in public. This was the only one bad experience in NOLA where everyone was very friendly. The other members of staff were fine. The food was okay but nothing special in small potion and very overpriced. What a disappointment.....This place had 2 separate parts, a bar with music (have to buy tickets) and the bistro without music. The jazz bar looked interesting but we will never go back to the bistro again.

Love love their drinks- the green one. Miss Jeanine, she made us feel like we were at Cheers she knew our name, our drink, and asked about the family- real New Orleans culture. From the restaurant I love the burgers and blackened fish, however the blackened fish has been overcooked lately, hence why they are getting 4 instead of 5 stars and their is no more Jeanine nor a close replica.

Food was good, service was excellent. Stayed around to see the legend ellis marsalis and several other talented musicians. The owner came to the stage to welcome us and introduce the musicians. Stick to promoting music and leave the comedy for the late night TV hosts.

Last night was my first time at a music show at Snug Harbor. I had no idea that their music room was so excellent and there is even a balcony for overflow seating. The seating at small round tables was comfortable and the sight lines to the band were all good. I had a couple of fruity punch drinks and my wife had a Makers Mark on the rocks. The Stanton Moore Trio was fantastic and the superb Steve Masakowski sat in on guitar and the group played many of his compositions and at least one Thelonious Monk song. I had hired Steves daughter Sasha for a Festival in Madison that I coordinate so it was enjoyable to see the talented dad. A special evening it was.

Im sure this place has great music but we did not stay long. The food was terrible, the service was mediocre. We had the mushroom burger with a baked potato. We managed to kill one but the other got away. Would not recommended for the food!

Venue is quite far away from the main French Quarter strip - about 25 minute walk - and all the better for that. There is a bar, a dining room and a music room. I was told Id have to book a concert before I could book a table for dinner. Fair enough. Did all that and booked a table. When we arrived at the restaurant they didnt have the booking for dinner. But - despite being very busy we were seated fairly quickly. The waitress serving us was really friendly and efficient. Food was excellent. Highlight of the evening was the concert in the music room after dinner. Outstanding Jazz in a relatively small, intimate room.

Every member of the staff I interacted with was as at the very least cordial. I was waiting at the bar for a show to start, and I was pleased to see they had Flor de Caña rum instead of just the usual limited selection of rums many bars carry. After some of the food smells from the patrons on either side of me started wafting over, the bartender could tell I needed a menu. I had the bowl of gumbo and the bread pudding. Both hit the spot, and thanks to the attentive bartender I ordered from, my bread pudding, that almost went to someone that had ordered it after me, was rescued and placed in front of me and I enjoyed every bite. This is definitely a good place to grab a drink, catch a show, or even just grab some food. They grind the meat for their patties, and thats a plus in and of itself. Do yourself a favor and check it out next time youre on Frenchmen.
