The Cahaba River Park is a located near Hoover Alabama between the Alabama Forever Wild Land Trust and Shelby County. The park is about 1,500 acres, is located at the confluence of the Cahaba River and Shades Creek. The park is designed and constructed trails for hiking, mountain biking and trail running enthusiasts, there is plenty to do and see. There are several river miles of canoeing, or just relax and enjoy some swimming or fishing. There are also two pavilions with restrooms and an outdoor shower. Additional improvements are planned, so check out their website for additional information. The water in the river is very clear and clean. The River is very beautiful.Fall colors are very good in autumn season.

First time out. Very impressed! Trails have a nice mix of flowy and rocky. Nothing too technical. The developers did a great job. Pretty close to Tannehill, so if you had planned a ride there, and there was, say, a long line because of Tannehill Trade Days, you could just hop on over here.

One of my families favorite places to visit. Its so much better now that its an established park on the Bibb County side. It has several hiking or biking trails, a pavilion, and a bathroom. We enjoy fishing, swimming, swinging from the rope swing, kayaking, bringing our dogs out to play in the water because most places your dogs are not allowed on the beach so this was a major plus for us and lastly we just enjoy the beauty that is the Cahaba

This is a great park for hiking and mountain biking. Its relatively new, and theyre still adding some things on, like several river acres points for launching kayaks and canoes. Those arent finished yet, but when they are youll be able to put in, go down the river, and take out again all within the park. Definitely worth a visit!

Cahaba River Park, just south of Birmingham AL is an overlooked diamond in the rough. With lots of Cahaba river access, kayaking, sun bathing, swimming, bike trails and hiking trails, this is a great place to take the family for a day out. Highly recommended.

This trail is a little ways out there but it is worth the drive. You do have to work for some of the trails by riding up hill but the rides back down are well worth it. They can a tight fit at times but even with my 29 Trek, I felt very comfortable. Once you do get to the top and have a chance to ride down be ready cause they flow well and give some good speed. Highly recommend marking this off your MTB trail list.

Lets pettition to add new stickers to the trails entry way sign! We need more places to off road and ride trucks, sxss, 4wheelers, and dirt bikes. Would be a great place. Maybe have separate areas for hiking&mtn. biking, and other trails for what Ive listed. Lets make it happen! Cool place tho

Well this is not a place you can get to quickly! And the road is pretty rough and I would prefer to go in a truck. Lovely, well maintained trails and a primo location to ride bikes. Shelby County should be commended for preserving these places for wildlife and recreation. A treasure!

This was my first time to this park. I thought it was great. They had a couple of parking lots. There were other cars parked there but we only passed a few people on the trails. We were there on a Thursday afternoon. We rode about 10 miles of trails. I got a good workout climbing and plenty of speed going down. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of wooded trails. I was expecting it to be more open with high grass. They had a pavillion with restrooms. Great views of the river. I am a 55 yr old male. I am not a beginner, but very far from a dare devil on a mt bike. The trails that I rode were probably up to intermediate level, narrow, with some tight switch backs at times. Occassionally there are rocks along the side for more advanced riders to use to get some air.

Parking is easy at this place, which also gives you a few different trail heads to start from. Options are nice and can give you another experience each time. The last two time I have gone Reflections has had a tree down across a section. Trail management probable hasnt been out there in a while. Also during those times I visited the restrooms have been locked so that has been a bit inconvenient. Over all the trail system is nice, flowy and some good chunky spots.

This park is a great place to go for a hike or bicycle ride. There are great ammenities and the trails are very well maintained. So far there are more than 12 miles of trails to enjoy. The only wish I have is that the access road were paved.

Posting about the MTB trails only.Awesome classic Alabama singletrack made for modern bikes. The soil is classic alabama dirt: hard packed sand and pine straw. Not super tacky but not a washout mayhem either. Super fast. This trail system is basically brand new so its about as fast as tarmac, not many exposed roots or rocks except for built features. If you have a good idea of where to go, its easy to get a lot of mileage and elevation without suffering through massive climbs like other places near here. The scenery is gorgeous, the trail goes through many different parts of the forest and even hugs the Cahaba River for awhile. There are some notable rock sections on Reflections and the Turtleback trail. No huge open vistas, but its very pretty. As far as the trail system goes, its more akin to national forest rides than purpose built trailcenters. Theres a fair bit of navigation and doubletrack riding required to get decent mileage. The signage is better than average, but the map could be improved slightly. The GPS overlay on satellite makes it hard to read if you just take a picture of it at the trailhead (which you 100% should because I only found one other map on the trail). It would benefit from having bathrooms at the main trailhead, but the Pavilion has toilets. My advice is to come out and ride just to get a feel for it. It lacks the massive descents akin to Coldwater and Oak Mountain, but its also doable on any bike. I could ride a road bike on it right now.

Anyone else have a problem with cell phone service out here? At best, mine was non-existent virtually everywhere, and I have a good company. What would you do in a medical emergency or your car breaks down...walk to the caretakers house and hope he/she is home? Otherwise, its a nice park...

We actually never explored the trails. The long gravel road to the site is not good for your car. If you dont have a pickup truck or high profile SUV, the road can be rough on any other vehicle. We spent most of the afternoon picking rocks out of our treads. Maybe, one day it will be paved, but until then, perhaps we can borrow an old, beat up truck and try it again.

Newly created park with hiking trails that meander through the forest and along the bluff above Cahaba River. Not as many vista points than I expected but surprisingly well designed trails. Rusty Bucket trail had some puddles and about 20 yards of mud (over 1.7 miles). Flagging tape is the only trail blazing but trails are highly visible as soon as you leave the pine forest.I will definitely be back for some more hiking. This time I didnt bring a map. had no cell phone reception (Google Fi) and at 34 F didnt want to get lost.
