Such an amazing place! Lot’s of paved walking paths and areas off path too. The areas go all around the lake and it’s so beautiful! There is a lot of wildlife that I saw today in the way of birds, bunnies, rabbits, and squirrels. Quite a few bees, dragonflies and butterflies too! I can imagine in the Springtime the plants are gorgeous! It was still really pretty today even with many plants dried out. There are many varieties of trees that are so beautiful this time of year. This place is a real treasure. It’s a great place for picnics on the lawn or in the covered areas. There are playground areas for the kiddos. I’ve been told the fishing is good here too. The Rotary Observatory is going to be visited on my next visit!

Great place to get some exercise for people of all ages. In amazing amount of wildlife especially birds. The top birder spot in the greater Phoenix area. Well see birds that you never would have expected to see in Arizona. A glimpse into what different riparian areas looked like in Arizona before people. Fishing available, parking seems a little limited at peak times.

I came here to walk around, and it was great! Finally some trees and some bodies of water which are both apparently not the normal scene in Arizona hikes. Very refreshing, saw quite a few people too. Parking lot was full when I came on Thanksgiving late afternoon, but I ended up parking in the librarys parking lot. Definitely a nice stroll and some relaxing, peaceful scenery. Would recommend!

A wonderful place to visit. Innovative in process of using different ponds, allowing for control of water level in the pond leading to natural life thriving in abundance. It was extremely busy b the day after Thanksgiving and people kept their distance. The trip was so refreshing. We got to see pelican, spoonbill, grey Heron up close alongside many little birds. Highly recommend.

I love visiting Riparian Preserve. I always take my dog for a walk among the ponds and adjoining canal. There are so many birds and plants as well as a creek and play structures. You will always see people fishing by the library and taking photos near the banks of the ponds. Parking is limited but is available at the library, too. I highly suggest for people of all ages.

Great place to escape the city while staying in town. Short trails available to wander around or you can sit in the grass or picnic areas to watch the sunset over the water. A lot of families come here in the spring and fall to take family photos. Its nice to see people walking around the park all dressed up. The small lake always has a lot of ducks making noise and people fishing there. The most amazing thing here is the sunset. AZ has beautiful sunsets and the Riparian is a great place to experience them!

The word is out, this place is amazing, well kept and larger that it leads on. Enjoy a stroll around the various ponds, in and out of the pathways and take time to stop and really enjoy the terrain that is not expected in the middle of a desert city. I’ve driven by here countless times and didn’t even know it was there! Thanks to google maps, we found it. My fam and I went for the first time today. My son loves bird watching. He loved taking pictures. The trails are nice though sometimes not well marked. On a couple of occasions, we went down dead ends. The downsides, too many dogs with careless owners. We frequently encountered dog feces on all of the trails. Also it’s difficult to social distance on many of the paths. Next time we’ll bring masks.

Its so serene and beautiful here! You can fish, and its also great for bird watching as well as squirrel watching (if thats a thing )It would be a nice spot for picnicking too!Theres a spot to the East of the main Library lake that has a playground, covered area with a few tables, and a bathroom; And on some nights (not sure which, its probably on the website), you can look through their big telescope to see the planets and stars!!! I did it in highschool and absolutely LOVED it! Great for field trips and for just walking around! Its a nice spot to take your dogs on walks too, just make sure theyre on a leash! There are also a few poop-bag-poles that have recycled grocery bags in them for picking up dog poop, great idea for recycling!Ive been going here for years and its just been getting better. As I walked through the north entrance of The riparian preserve I was greeted by an ensemble of mallard ducks. Water ranch lake is the only area you can feed the ducks so thats where I headed to. Wild bird seed, Cracked corn, Whole grain cereal that floats are the only acceptable items on their menu. There are 5 walking trails to choose from so I selected one and began my walk. I discovered that the Gilbert riparian preserve is a bird watchers Paradise. From egrets to hummingbirds and everything in between. You will definitely want to bring a pair of binoculars. Before long I came to a pond where turtles were sunning themselves on the rocks and where a small group of baby geese were following their mother. spaced along the trails are benches to sit on as you relax and simply enjoy nature. Cottontails were out in abundance and a lizard or two made an appearance. Truly an enjoyable morning.

The Riparian Preserve at water ranch is a great escape right in the middle of the city. Have you had enough of the city and are ready for some Mother Nature time to get grounded. This is right on the corner of Guadalupe and Greenfield Rd. They have a telescope to see the stars, multiple ponds for water foul to live in and play ground equipment for the kids to play on. They have huge dinosaur bones the kids can discover in a sand pit. Wild life is everywhere. We saw rabbits and birds, lizards and other small things. They also have snakes, coyotes and fishing is permitted. Check it out and let me know what you think.
