River is low this time of year, but nice and cool outside. Leaves are changing, makes it pretty outside. Can easily walk to both sides of the creek

Nice, clean, fun face to relax on the beach or play in the water. It is great for young children with the shallow creek are, but just as fun for adults or experienced swimmers with the deeper section above the walls. There is also an intermediate area in the middle with a small waterfall that the kids had a blast tubing down. There is a decent bathroom and plenty if parking including a parking garage. One word of advice, the walls and the rocks on the bottom can be slippery so bring water shoes, and there are some shades spots but they are limited so an umbrella or canopy is recommended if spending an extended amount of time.

People are friendly. Its a family environment. Water is nice. Pretty spacious spot. Occasionally there will be moss gathered in the water if its not flowing. You can to swim, jump off a 30ft cliff into the water, or just hang out. There is a walking path or two. Its a very simple area for those like myself who likes to chill in natural spots. Easy parking near by. Depending on the seasons, the water is just right or very cold. Restrooms arent as sanitary as they could be. So go in with some caution if you must use it.

Kid friendly, shallow pool at the bottom area of the waterfall. clean clear water. Nice nature trails, paved sidewalks for running. But WARNING: I did see a huge 6ft snake sun bathing on the bottom right side of the waterfall the last time I was there. So just keep your eyes open.

Family friendly with shallow areas for kids, this spot on the San Gabriel river is free of charge! Parking is nearby and there is a public restroom as well. Several shaded picnic tables are available underneath beautiful live oak trees . Water quality is good as it flows out of Lake Georgetown.

Blue Hole is a fun swimming experience. There are barbecue pitts and park tables for a nice family outing. A cliff on the northside of the river looked fun, but had posted signs deterring jumping. The bathrooms are gross and unsanitary. No soap and no holes for the building to breath makes a urine soaked building fill with mold. Avoid them if possible. The parking garage is close and provides ample room. I went on a Labor Day, even so I had no difficulty finding a spot and setting out.Where the river is damned, the deepest area I found was about eight feet deep. The green algae filled waters were a bit gross, with no showering facilities to rinse off.It would be a good place to go back to barbecue and walk a dog. The shallow water after the damn made a nice area for the doggos to play. It is posted to keep all pets on a leash at all times. The rule is not obeyed.

What a wonderful little piece of heaven in the heart of Georgetown. You have a great choice of places to park and walk to the river. Not to bad of a walk maybe a block. Just depends where you want to be. Another wonderful thing is dogs are welcome. Plenty of children for your kids to play with (even 4 legged kids). Please this is one of the most wheelchair friendly spots I have found. You can get close to the water but not in it in a wheelchair. My mother would love to ride down the road in her wheelchair and see everyone playing and having fun. Please there is shade from trees..Thats a big plus in the Texas sun.

It is so beautiful here. Be careful of walking into the river on the big rocks. They are covered in algae and extremely slippery! I fell flat on my back. . Luckily the water broke most of my fall. Pickett trail is great, but it is not for the casual hiker (or young children or certain dogs). It has extremely steep ups and downs and some unprotected cliffs. Our dog was pulling me a lot of the way and it was very stressful because there were so many instances where I feared being pulled off a cliff edge or down a steep rocky decline. There was also a steep set of stairs and a bridge made of metal mesh. Our dogs did not like that at all. We almost could not get them to go down the stairs. My husband had to carry one of our (65 lb.) dogs across the bridge because she refused to cross (it did not look comfortable for dog paws). Dont let this scare you off from the trail. It is gorgeous and so worth it (bring your for sure). Just be prepared for something a little intense. And if you just want to stroll, the paved trail is a nice, relaxing alternative (we took that on the way back).

Dog friendly, fishing friendly, small grill friendly. With small waterfalls and plenty of spots to just chill out in the water this was an excellent second/third choice for my team. As both locations at Lake Georgetown caused some problems with our organization. Russell Park had and no pets or grills sign up and cedar breaks park was full to capacity with cars and overflow parking become equally full we bailed. Blue Hole happened to be around three to four miles away, and was our last hope. Not too crowded, but crowded enough to keep some of our friends at home, we had a nice shaded area by the pathway and set up shop. Great time, plenty of sun and fun, we will be back for sure.

I love this spot. Beautiful area to swim, hike or just relax and have a picnic. Good fishing spot as well. The trail along it goes on for 68 miles too. It does attract a lot of people on the weekends, but there is plenty of roomt o stretch out still and have your own place. Parking is hard to deal with when there are a lot of people, but there is a couple of parking lots. Dog friendly for those who love to bring g mans best friend. Pretty clean area as well. Have visited many times.

1st time here and it was a very nice experience. Extremely shaded so on hot days its bearable. The waters were very refreshing and cool. Historical Trail Pickett Trail was a lovely find to stumble upon. The trail from start to finish was about 1 hour with stops along the way for videos and pictures. There are restrooms on site as well as shaded table areas. Very nice place for a walk and relax w/food and friends. Theres also a hidden cemetery along the trail. So peaceful. Nice quiet walk along the water. There is an area near the top waterfall where you can go swimming. Pets are allowed in the area but must remain on a leash. There are two parking lots and one is marked with a big sign at the intersection. But you should drive down in the direction of the water because there are many spots that are much closer. The are a few disabled parking spaces there too.

I love this place! The parking seems limited but theres a large FREE parking garage just up the road a little ways (still easy walking distance). Theres trash cans every hundred feet or so, so no excuses for litter! People bring little grills and coolers and canopies and set up a spot to enjoy the day. Theres basically three water sections to enjoy, with the lowest/first section being shallow, and the highest/furthest section being deep (Ive actually never been up there but it looks like peoples shoulders and up are the only parts above water). If its been dry then the water level can be low, so just keep that in mind. The scenery is beautiful and we always enjoy our time here.

Bring a blanket and sit on the rock bank along the water if you don’t feel like swimming!
