If you like nature you will love this area. There are trails for walking, hiking, and trail running. No dogs or bicycles allowed on the trails. We have seen armadillos and deer on our hikes. Some of the trails are challenging, as they go down hill sides that are rocky. This is a beautiful area that is kept very clean and is well managed.

Great autumn foliage and wonderful vistas. Hiking is good and there is plenty of wildlife. Saw families clicking winter photos for their albums and enjoying the warm winter sunshine.

Very nice park, secluded area and only complaint i would give this place is there is no where near enough parking compared to the amount of people that use it, at 8am on a sunday cars were parked along the 2 lane highway and walking to get in, park is clean and well kept, lots of clearly marked trails and a great view of the lake.

Great walking trails. Trails are well maintained and some have a decent grade up and down. Lots of shade on the trail so you can get out of the sun. Benches and pic nic tables along the trail. Some pavilion areas too. Port a potties at key places. Good views of the lake.

For Texas this is very nice. Loved that there was a bit of rocky path to climb up and down through the trail. We only did about a 1m portion on the purple trail with the 2 kids. Beware some parts are not stroller friendly and I had to carry it but not to big of a deal. Mostly shaded on purple few good spots to eat lunch and enjoy some nature. Deer, rabbit, squirrels, bugs, snakes and people are the wildlife seen.

Great place to hike. Take the Shoreline Trail and the Overlook Trail for the best experience [less people and more deer].After the hike, head to Sammys on the Lake for a meal, only 2 miles away and great food and service.

This hidden gem is a great place to hike or trail run. It also has nice picnic tables for a nice little picnic lunch or breakfast! We went early in the morning (July) as not to get torched by the sun and it was almost fully shaded and just perfect.I am really looking forward to going back. The Hills were perfect for moderate walks/hikes. Sort of wish bikes and dogs were allowed, but totally understand why they are not.

What an incredible place. I wasnt expecting too much, but was absolutely blown away by the mileage of hiking trails, the different levels of difficulty, and the sheer awe of the scenery. The hiking trails wind, dip, climb, and lead you through some of the most gorgeous sights this side of Texas has to offer. There are hills, creeks, grassy plains, a lake, long stretches of shoreline, and trees big and tall....it seems like every area of Texas is represented at this park.

First time running the trail and loved it!! Beautiful scenery along the way. Well-marked throughout, which was nice to keep this newbie from getting lost! Very friendly people all along the trail. The waterfront parts were especially nice. There is also ample shade throughout the trail with all the large, mature trees, which kept me from getting sunburned. Overall, great experience. I will be taking my kids here next!!

Great park for hiking. There are two hiking trails, a big loop and a small loop. The big loop is 4.2 miles, the small one is 2.8. Both offer roughly identical views of the lake. On the bigger loop are several side trails if you do not wish to walk around the entire loop. There are trail maps in various areas of the park. There is also wildlife (mainly deer) to see. The trails are not flat, there are lots of hills. They are dirt trails, so never come right after it rains. At the far ends of the loop, you are right on the lake. There are a few sudden drops on the trails, so use caution. The shorter trail is probably my favorite one because it offers better views upon the highest point. Also, on a windy day, and when the lake is completely full, water will shoot up in the air off the bank and it looks really cool (this only happens with strong, southerly winds).

This park is by far my favorite place to hike in the greater DFW metro. It has beautiful views, challenging trails, and enough trails to actually be considered a legitimate day hike. Its a great place for birding, hiking, or just plain exploring. The parking is a little cramped, but its well worth the effort to get in.The things that really impressed me are how well the trails are maintained, the lack of litter, and the lack of creepy people lurking around the trails. I actually feel safe hiking here with my wife without constantly looking over my shoulder.10/10 would hike again.

Hiked 5 miles today. The trails are pretty well maintained. Some muddy areas had flat rocks to walk on which was nice since it had recently rained. The trails have elevation changes and go through forested area as well as by the lake shore. We are planning a trip with a lot of hiking and this seems to be a great place to train for that. There were quite a few people out but there is plenty if room. This park is free and they have port a potties.

The hour drive it took me to get there was so worth it! Lots of shady areas to walk. Beautiful scenic views. Parking is available but fills up fast. You can hear the birds singing. They have bathrooms available. Wear comfortable shoes. The terrain is uneven in parts and there are also some steep climbs so be prepared. I will DEFINETLY come back to hit the red trail to see the other half of the lake. We only got through the blue, purple and yellow trails yesterday.

With regard to the full loop trail, which measures at just over 7 miles for the round trip:This is an excellent trail, very well maintained and clean. It can be a bit of the challenge in the summer if youre not good with the heat as theres some pretty decent stretches with no shade. Great views of Eagle Mountain Lake can be had from either end of the trail, its well worth all the steps.Sorry folks, no dogs allowed on this trail.

This is a pretty and peaceful area. We saw two deer, each at different points on the trail and an armadillo. Some areas of the park have trail maps but there needs to be better trail markers and signs. There are some areas where you can stay straight or veer off but there are no signs to guide you.It would be a better experience for everyone to have more guidance and direction.
