Im always so proud of the selection of works that come to the Kimball. The permanent collection on display is always so great. The museum has a love for the impressionist and I always look forward to those exhibits. The court yard connecting the Kahn building and Piano pavilion is lovely. Such a beautiful place to walk around, take pictures, and relax. Really a wonderful place to visit in Fort Worth.

Not child friendly, the security guard here likes to humiliate and harass families. She did not like the way we scolded our three year old daughter and preferred us to use a more physical approach. Even if we wanted to do it that way her hand wasnt on the painting long enough to do so. She quickly touched a painting and as soon as we saw her do it, we quickly told her not to touch any of the paintings in the museum. She immediately stopped and understood instructions. Then the security guard felt the need to approach us and attack my husband. Because apparently he saw her do it and did not do a thing about it which is not true at all! She claimed, I did not see you take her hand and yank it away!. She wouldnt stop harassing us until we left the museum, we were probably there for 5 or ten minutes before this incident and only got to look at ONE painting. Many thanks to her for completely ruining our experience. Approaching us in a more calm and less condescending manner wouldve been 100x better for everyone. She claims she is just doing her job... Yeah, this is not how you do it. Ive been through the security training too and work night shifts. This is not how you approach a calm happy family of four! I understand the importance of not touching the artwork and I handled it how I saw fit. She can take her parenting tactics elsewhere.

This is my favorite art museum in DFW. Anytime I am making the jaunt to Fort Worth, I try to include a stop at the Kimbell. The permanent collection isnt huge, so a few hours is sufficient for most. They consistently host acclaimed special exhibits- including Monets waterlilies last summer. Parking is easy and the staff is friendly. And admission is free! Definitely worth a stop!

Looking for something to do on a Sunday during the environment were dealing with my wife and I decided to check the Fort Worth museum districtUpon entering the Kimball art museum we were confronted by a gentleman that said our face shields were not in compliance with their understanding of proper face masks and must use their face mask which I know to be inferior to what we were wearing...Every other establishment we have visited in the past 5 months here and out of state including airports and security were perfectly fine with our face coverings.Kimball needs to do better research and training to help employees understand what is acceptable and what is not!

Their security guard who is not in compliance with state laws on uniform felt he knew better about what face coverings were acceptable and constantly tried to force my wife to switch from her approved mask to one he pulled from his pocket. It was the least welcoming experience Ive ever had here but they have gone drastically downhill in quality and service over the last five or so years.

The museum exhibit itself was cool. The staff was otherwise lacking in customer support. They required that kids as young as TWO years old keep a mask on.Well, I have a two year old and its impossible to keep a mask on a two year old. She kept taking it off and they told us if she couldnt keep it on, then we had to leave. So we left. The people here have absolutely no common sense.

This was my first time to the Kimbell Art Museum. We came for the Monet exhibit, which was fantastic. Everyone is familiar with the water lilies but its his later years that really demonstrated his versatility. His vision also began to fail as he developed a cataract in one eye and was blind in the other - his perception of color and shape evolved significantly. We didnt have much time for the rest of the museum exhibits but Ill definitely go back!

They are definitely not child friendly. We came in with our three year old daughter and 6 month old son, we werent even here for five minutes. This was my daughters first time in an art museum and she was amazed. The first painting we saw was Monet and my daughter briskly touched the painting, as SOON as my wife and I saw what happened we verbally scolded our daughter and she immediately stopped and understood. Soon after, the security guard approached me angrily and told us that she saw our daughter touch the painting and that I did not scold her at all. We calmly explained to her that we did, we told our three year old not to touch the paintings and she immediately stopped. The security guards reasoning was that I (her father) did not take her hand and move it away... FIRST of all, she did not have her hand on the painting long enough to physically do anything about it. Second of all, after we told her that we did scold our daughter, she obviously was not happy with the way we did so and continued to attack me. She than proceeded to say that she was honestly concerned that we were even there because we are allowing our daughter to touch the painting. WE DID NOT ALLOW HER TO TOUCH THE PAINTING. It was a one time thing that happened very quickly. She humiliated my wife and I and insulted us by saying we were basically not welcomed there because of that one mistake. She would not leave us alone until we left. We left immediately and honestly regret even taking the time to come here. If whoever hired her cares enough about this women humiliating people this was on the second floor, it was 10/21/20 around 3:50 pm. She was about 54, a white female, with short dark brown hair. JUST so you know, my wife and I are both security guards. We work opposite shifts from each other on the weekends in a skycraper downtown. This is NOT how you do that job. We were a calm family, you aproach us in a calm demeanor.

Great art museum. Free and worth your time. They have a lot of interesting paintings, sculptures, and rock art - some of which are thousands of years old. Some paintings by famous artists like Picasso, Van Gogh, Monet, and Michelangelo. Just go up the stairs once you walk in and everything up there is free and very nice. You are required to wear mask like the employees. It took me 90 minutes to get thru all the art at a brisk pace that included reading descriptions of every other art piece. Could speed thru in 20 minutes if not reading descriptions. If you bring headphones and download the museum’s phone-app, they have audio for every art piece. And on their main website you can view the audio/descriptions at home. At the museum, there are employees required to watch every space/room you step in to make sure no one touches the art or uses flash photography. Very nice employees. Plenty of parking. I highly recommend going here whether you are into art or not. I really wasn’t until I saw this museum. It’s free and really worth seeing at least once. I would have paid in retrospect, but being free is what got me to go. Worth it. FYI, the seasonal paid-exhibit is in a whole different building behind the main Kimbell Art Museum.

The Kimbell does it again with the Monet: The Later Years exhibition. Thoughtfully displayed works and a fascinating audio guide take you quickly from Monets well known earlier style through his transformation in 1914 to a mature, exuberant experimental style that becomes almost abstract expressionism. A number of works are from the Musée Marmottan, and there is one enormous center panel (of a triptych) on display that show Monets fascination with ever larger canvases.
