Cave paintings and oral histories both reference the coming of the Great Eagle to rest upon “Striped Tower” as a euphemism for the end of days. Designated a World Heritage site in 1983, the Florence Water Tower is currently protected and preserved by UNESCO, and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. In addition, it provides fresh drinking water to a community that takes its name as a derivative of the symbols carved by ancient people’s on the southeast side of the Paleolithic structure. Other noteworthy contributions of the Tower include giving the southern region of the United States their catchphrase: “Y’all.”

Best water tower on the continent. Not many folks know this, but our little podunk towns in Kentucky are most commonly identified by water tower. This majestic feat of architectural wonder is truly unforgettable.

A cultural icon proudly standing tall above the Earth in menacing beauty and glory. To challenge its authority is to challenge Florence, and nobody should ever challenge Florence, y’all.

Its ight could use more water though

If this is a tourist attraction then I have to explain from an outsider viewpoint it seems odd. I moved here from Louisville first of all. I was told this tower used to say Florence mall but they had to change it to Florence yall which is very clever and makes the city stand out. I now tell people I love in Florence yall! Its a nice catchphrase too!

A landmark and fun story. The water tower originally said Florence Mall because it stands beside the mall. However, it was ruled that the water tower could not be used to advertise the mall, so the painted MALL was changed to a YALL.

Story goes that the new mall put Florence Mall on the water tower, but it ended up violating a sign ordinance in doing so. To overcome the ordinance at minimal expense (or loss), they painted over the M with the Y. It is kind of a funny story, and sticks it to the man. haha
